Well since I'm the Duke, I guess I should review it. This is a dive bar in Metairie that I never would have gone to except it is close to work and has been on the regular rotation where I work. It's a great place to go espeically on a nice day when you can sit on the patio. Inside is a little ... well divey, and the smoke can get in your eyes. But it is what it is. The drinks are very well priced and are generous pours. Finally the food is way above average. From burgers to gumbo, Jason, the owner and head chef, knows his way around the kitchen.

This place is a good Metry dive bar & restaurant.  They have a pretty good sized menu but they have a sign outside proclaiming "World's Greatest 12oz Burger" so that is what they specialize in.  The burger was very large and I had a few bites that were difficult to get into my mouth as the burger was so thick.  The burgers start at $8 and go up from there based on the toppings you get BUT they don't come with any sides (plain fries will set you back another $3).  This isn't the best quality burger I've ever had but it was pretty good considering the large size and I would probably get another one (I just couldn't handle doing it often as big, juicy, and greasy as they are).

It was approaching 11 PM.as I am driving near Cauesway and Veterans near construction Hell. and the thought of a steak sandwich crosses my mind so...I turn down Ridgelake and head for The Harbor in hopes they have what I want.  I know they have a pretty decent menu for a bar restaurant so it's worth a shot.
I get there and the parking lot is fairly crowded with cars but I manage to snag a spot close enough so I can leave my smart phone plugged in and I can run my Energy Gobbling Wi Fi Hot Spot and write this review from my laptop.  I walk straight in to the restaurant portion of the establishment.  It is dark but strangely serene despite music and noise of patrons coming through the door joining it to the bar. There are 7 stools at the bar along with the 4 tables. There are cops in and out ordering food and hanging out.   I take a few minutes to boot my laptop and begin to peruse the menu. I decide on the Harbor Fries right away.  After a while of looking I notice they have a Filet Sandwich..BINGO!..Not the rib eye I was specifically craving but certainly close enough.   I order it dressed with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo.
I sit back down to my laptop and make a post in the notorious "Ancient Thead"..(It's the longest running active thread in New Orleans for Yelp..Titled "Yelp is Hiring in NOLA").
I post my response on the AT and it's been maybe 10 minutes and the cook is holding my sandwich and fries at the bar for me as I look up.
My first impression is the sandwich is not Very Big I sit down and take my first bite, my next impression is the French bread is toasted very well.  I pay closer attention to the bread on my next bite and decide that THIS particular sandwich is THE most perfectly toasted French bread sandwich I have ever eaten.  The bread is toasted so well that the crust is very delicate and does not cut my mouth like French bread so often does.  The filet is cooked medium rare like I ordered it and it is very tender as filet should be.   I take a few more bites as I savor the natural flavor of the meat but decide I want a little steak sauce on it and find a bottle of Pickapeppa on another table which suits my want. I finish the sandwich quickly and wonder if the perfection that was this loaf can be duplicated or was it dumb luck that I got the best toast of the cook's career.  I then begin to eat the fries..  The Harbor Fries are topped with roast beef gravy, cheese and onions.  They are ok but I personally prefer the fries at the Bottom Line smothered with gravy..and I think the onions need to be grilled a bit more as they were a tad strong.  Despite a few minor criticisms, I rated The Harbor 5 stars strictly on the strength of my bread.  I just absolutely loved how it was toasted.  I don't recall ever eating bread that was toasted so crisp it was delicate like this one before.  I suspect my normal rating would be in the 3 range..but..it's about the bread..if it's this good again..then the rating will be higher..but for this one..it was perfect.
