Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse

A very competent steak house but better options are available.  I ate at the bar, had the KC strip (bone in) with brussels sprouts/pancetta as a side.  They start the meal with fresh made chips (I was at the bar, so this may be a bar thing), which were too good, ate a lot more than I should of.  I then had the KC Strip, which was a nice steak, right amount of fat, good flavor.  It was, however, slightly overcooked; I ordered medium rare and it was medium.  Not a huge problem but in a steakhouse, it should not happen.  The brussels sprouts were very flavorful and actually quite spicy, an interesting side.  Service was very friendly and nice.

Why I only gave it three starts was that everything was good but it is not at the same level as the 20-30 other top Chicago steakhouses (from the Mortons to Bennys to Gibsons), even though the prices are comparable.  They would never mis-cook a steak and they just are a tad better quality.

Had dinner, crab cakes were amazing! Big lumps of crab perfectly seasoned with a small mixed salad on the side. the brownie dessert! Wow.

After four visits to Harry Caray's I can officially say I love this place. The bar is lively with ample TV's throughout showing various sporting events. The dining room offers a great ambience in which to enjoy a quality dinner from a nicely varied menu.

Their steaks are outstanding, and in the $40 range the priciest items on the menu. Worth every penny in my opinion, they are quality cuts of beef and very nicely prepared. My favorite item on the menu is the Italian Sausage & Peppers - a generous serving of sausage and sautéed peppers for a very reasonable $18. They offer a nice selection of seafood items as well. Last night I opted for the Rock Shrimp special served with pasta, grape tomatoes and a spicy Pomodoro sauce. My tastebuds were dancing as cleaned up every bit of this tasty dish, and priced at just over $20 it was a terrific value for the money.

Harry's offers a substantial wine list with something to please every palate. I especially appreciate the ample choices available by the glass and half-bottle.

I stay in Rosemont often when on business in Chicagoland, and Harry Caray's has become a reliable staple for me. Thank you, Harry!
