First time for lunch today at the Hearthstone Pub. Â Very good, service exceptional. Â Beautiful atmosphere, nice booths, hardwood floors. Â Classy. Â Started our lunch with the fresh made potato chips and bleu cheese dip. Â Very good, dressing was nice and thick with chunks of cheese. Â Chips were crispy and not too greasy. Â I had the hearthstone burger and my mother had the Reuben. Â Burger was done to my tastes, could have used a little more sauce, had that nice grill bite to it. Â Mom liked the Reuben, would have liked it on rye. Â We chose the 'funny bone' Â dessert, chocolate cake with chocolate icing and peanut butter filling. Â Fresh whipped cream on the side. Â That was 'to die for' good. Â Highly recommend that dessert, but leave your diet at the door....
A very good dining experience...would like to come back for dinner next time.
We've only been here once so far, but we will definitely be back. The seafood lasagna is very tasty, their burgers are so very juicy, the french onion soup is abundantly flavorful, and the desserts will put you into a diabetic coma (but in a good way.) They also have a very respectable beer selection with a series of rotating taps. The only slight complaint I have really has nothing to do with the staff or the food. The dining room is comprised of hardwood floors and cathedral ceilings, so if you're eating dinner and there's 1 or 2 groups of loud people with no manners, the sound becomes overbearing at times. But that's a matter of rude patrons, not the establishment, so I can't and won't fault them for that.
Review Source:Stopped in for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Â Ordered JUMBO clam cakes to start. They serve two and are about 3" X 3/4" thick. Not crispy, in fact soft...but they tasted pretty good! Not too Jumbo though.
I had the panini with prosciutto and arugala. Pretty good! Really hit the spot. My wife had the Grilled Chicken Asparagus Wrap with marinated chicken breast & asparagus with tomato, mixed cheese & sun dried tomato aioli. She said it was light and grilled lightly and good with sweet potato fries.
The fireplace was roaring too and felt really good. They have 2 little fireplaces behind the bar that is pretty wild.
GREAT place!, SERVICE is perfect, food was amazing, we had the summer salad, steak,my 11 year old had the tortellini with cheese sauce (he has this all the time, but this was amazing-not heavy or greasy, truly the best we've ever tasted), place was immaculate, they served Starbucks coffee, not only the coffee itself, but in the Starbucks Cups! We got there late, heading up to New Hampshire, they had no problem accommodating us, and there is a discount to boot if you show them your phone with your Yelp app. Â I don't get deals like this anywhere. Â Fantastic! Â We'll be back!
Review Source:I practically live here. Its close to home, the food is awesome and the service is great most of the time.
Staff: shout out to Kate, she is hands down the most polite/best server there. she is always attentive, pleasant, and genuinely interested in serving you. I haven't had very good luck sitting in the bar area (think it was because we were seated behind a pole).
Food: there is nothing here I have tried that I didn't like (seafood, burgers, pastas, you name it) I am a special sucker for there sweet potato fries, get them. They are amazing.
Atmosphere: place its beautifully decorated with wood, fireplaces a real tavern look and feel.a nice mix of all generations.the only thing I didn't like its that they closed early on Saturday night at 11p, had to go finish out the night somewhere else.
Price: the price is reasonable,I feel like I get a good value for my money.if I order a stuffed lobster,I know I will pay $25, get bread, salad and sides that will be more than acceptable. I'm okay with that. Plus you get 20% off your bill if you show you're server your http://yelp.com check in,sweet!
Wife and I went with 2 friends on a Friday night. Â Great ambiance and food. Â Nice beer selection. Â Loved the beer flights and the Patron Margarita. Â Not too expensive either. Â Our server Maggie was very friendly, fun, and attentive. Â Pleasant surprise after dinner, the live band was really good. Â We highly recommend this place.
Review Source:One of the best non-chain restaurants in the area. Delicious wine, food, and lovely atmosphere! Â You have to go here even if it's just to try the honey-butter bread; yum! Â I have had the tortellini alfredo dish with grilled chicken and a side salad. Â I also enjoy their wine selection, they have one of the best Rieslings I have ever tasted! Â Friday nights they have life music, a great place for a date.
Review Source:Took a party of 20 here for a dinner. Â Wasn't sure who our servers were as 3 or more rotated in infrequently. They brought out some of the best bread I have ever sampled and had high hopes. However, that's where the good times ended. I had their filet special of the evening and it arrived cool, a bit over cooked and the baked potato had obviously been out of the oven for awhile. Â Room temperature was uncomfortably warm and the staff seemed unable to correct.
However, the worst part of the evening was thanks to a manager who was unwilling to accommodate my group who later in the evening had grown to 30 or more. When we asked to move to a more open space so we could all mingle in a larger, climate controlled area, she told us no and offered no better reason than she didn't feel like sending a server out to attend to us. I told her we were going to move next door and she seemed perfectly fine with that. Â Poor business decision.
Do not entertain large parties here.
went here with a large group and they had no problem keeping the food & drinks coming. a big portion of the menu was sold out or no longer available (seasonal menu not updated maybe). good selection of beers on tap and in bottles. in our large group all of the food was ok - no complaints, although the prices seemed a bit high for a pub in this area. my pasta was ok, nothing too exciting really. desserts all looked amazing, my funny bone cake was a little dry but ok overall. if you are looking for a pub to drink in the bar was busy and active, the crowd wasn't very young on a friday night. Â lots of fireplaces (its owned by the fireplace guy who owns the store behind it)
Review Source:Great location, food and ambiance! My husband and I were very pleased with the menu options, mostly standard American /Italian /pub but some dishes were more creative. Â The decor and ambiance was warm and inviting. Loved all the fireplaces-cute idea. Â My favorite was the great beer selection. Everything was reasonably priced. Awesome place!!! We'll definitely be going back.
Review Source:We go by this place all the time on our way to our friends tattoo shop. It has a very inviting feel from the outside so we finally decided to try it.
The inside is very inviting as well and the staff was friendly albeit a bit stretched. Service was a little slow and at one point I think they forgot we were there.
As far as the food goes, it was ok; nothing special and pricey for the quality. I think your paying for the decor.
Went here for the first time last night. It was a Sunday night so I was surprised at how busy it was. Our waitor even admitted they were overwhelmed at the moment.
I liked the food. Large portions help ease the higher prices. Did not expect the prices to be what they were. Hearing "Pub" I was expecting pub food. This was anything but. However, it was delicious. Had the shrimp and scallop a la vodka. Highly recommend. Prices aren't outrageous, just not what I expected.
Bar looked cool and hope to come for drinks soon. Beer was reasonably priced ($4.50 for good draft beer). Nice to see new places opening up in Plantsville Center!
I have eaten here twice in the past two days, with several friends. Â The food was excellent. Â Good service also. Â We all loved what we had. Â The 1st time I went I had a chicken wrap and the 2nd time, a chicken dish with artichokes and tomatoes. Â Excellent. Â Plus delicious deserts. Â Yum!!! Â Will go again.
Review Source:I've eaten here once so far since they opened about a month ago and the food was good. Â I had the Penne a la Vodka, a salad and a few beers. Â I met the owner who was standing by the entrance door (we were sitting at the bar) and when she asked how everything was, was happy to accommodate my request for a salad and some bread. Â There were a few mistakes made w/ my order but the bartender straightened them out and I was good to go. Â
It's kind of shocking to see so many 1 review question mark heads giving this place 1 star reviews. Â I'm not sure why so many people want to see this place fail. Â Personally I would like to see this local business succeed. Â It has already begun to transform the Plantsville center by giving locals another decent dining option in an otherwise somewhat bland area.
