Helga's German Restaurant and Deli

A very relaxed place to dine, try the Philadelphia type soft pretzels and beer sampler, very good, staff is very friendly and attentive, prices for german food, as with all german restuarants, is on the high side but quality of food is good

We had dinner here tonight, food was good, BUT; we waited at the door, to be greeted, close to 5 minutes.Not very impressive. When I mentioned the time to the server she said, 5 minutes? the last one waited close to 20! Are you kidding me? This was right out of a TV show on a failing restaurant, service is # 1 ! Seated at a table in the bar, nice bartender waited on us. Food was good, not great. They all seemed very rushed & understaffed, AND not TIPPED ! We did however.
For dessert we had the classic Black Forest Cake,  it seems like it came from Safeway, weak chocolate cake, fake icing & canned pie cherries. Come on, if you want to feature a great classic, make it real ! I`ve been in the food service industry for over 30 years & find no reason for this kind of poor running, no wonder they need Groupon to help. Do it right & you`ll succeed. Chef F. Walker

I rarely ever write reviews, but this place it TERRIBLE!
It left a really bad taste in my mouth so I'd like to share:

Wasted a Groupon and an additional $10 at this place!
This is NOT authentic German Food.
I was born and raised in Germany and would be ashamed
to claim Helga's Food tastes like German Food!

The Schnitzel I had looked like it was made 2 days prior and
it was gray in color! Yuck!

Don't waste your time and money at this place!

Give it a try and cook a German dish yourself -
or just find a friend that will make one for you  :)

I'm glad most people never had "real authentic German Food"
so they don't know what they are missing out!!!
