I lived nearby the Hi Way Restaurant for years and have given them many opportunities for my business. Needless to say, I have no problem with never going back.
I'm surprised this establishment is still in business, the staff is rude and constantly rude. The food is tasteless and on several occasions cold.
Not many other options directly nearby, but worth driving the extra 5 minutes to Whitehall for a better meal.

I've lived in the area for over 15 years and routinely dine at the Hi-Way Restaurant.  The patrons consist of a nice mix of friendly locals and some travelers (it's located off of Highway Route 145, which leads north to a ski resort and south to Allentown among other areas).

I (and especially my family) have come to know the waitstaff well over the years.  All-in-all everyone is very friendly.

The restaurant owners are two brothers who are very hands-on (they work pretty long hours).  Both are friendly.  An interesting fact, I believe the Restaurant began years ago as an ice cream stand (or was it fruit?) and then expanded into the now restaurant.  Several years ago it received an interior upgrade and is very clean.

Now the best part- the food!  The food is very reasonably priced, and the menu is fairly diverse for a diner.  There are typically always specials (often in the form of whole meals) which are very filling.  Honestly I've never really had anything there that wasn't good, but following are some personal favorites:  Their soups are excellent, particularly the cream of broccoli and the seafood chowder.  Their breakfasts are wonderful, especially the omelets (I like their ham and mozzarella cheese omelets).  If you're stopping in for lunch, I enjoy the Tuna Sandwich on Rye.  And their milkshakes are wonderful.  Finally, their pies are delicious (our family frequently orders them for get-togethers).

All-in-all it's a wonderful place to dine- highly recommend it.  Oh, and the owners recently purchased Prime in Bethlehem (off of Stoke Park Rd I believe)- it was previously the Steak and Ale.  I have yet to eat there, but I heard it's basically like Steak and Ale (but slightly better).  Friends and family say the food is wonderful- I'll have to check it out.
