Great find after we had finished hiking in the poconos and were on our way to mt. Airy ..just stumbled across this place. The BBQ platter was great (pulled pork was the best). We had corned beef hash with eggs in a pan and pancakes as well, both of which were good.  The place has a very old school feel and  getting the food in pans feels great.
Review Source:Loved it! Super nice staff! put out dancing pigs yo entertain our 1 yr old. Hubby got chicken fried steak special which would have been enough for the 3 of us. I got the 1 little piggy, pancakes, eggs, French toast and then we got a side of gravy with some biscuits which was amazing! Loved every bite. So sad that I could not finish. We will be back!
Review Source:I come out to the Stroudsburg area pretty often since I do a decent amount of shooting out here. Â And whenever there's a range day, there's always new restaurants to try. Â Last time I was out here with the girl, we came here for lunch only to be disappointed that they had closed already. Â Just as a heads up, get here early because by 2:00 PM you'll be looking at locked doors. Â
Upon entering the restaurant, you realize that this place has probably been here for quite some time. Â It has the charm like you're in a grandmother's house and I'm pretty sure the family's grandmother works here as there was an elderly woman who was cleaning up tables and talking to all the staff.
The pricing for the food is reasonable with moderately sized portions. Â I tried their sampler platter (forget the name) but it was basically a little bit of all their cue. Â It came with pork loin, brisket, pulled pork, fries, sausage, and some bread. Â The pork loin was absolutely boring, tasteless, and well at least it made a good sandwich. Â The brisket wasn't terrible but much drier than I would like, indicating it had been sliced quite some time ago. Â The stars of the plate however was the pulled pork and the sausage. Â If I were to come back here again, I'd definitely get the pulled pork. Â It was loaded with flavor, moist, and oh so good.
This isn't the best BBQ I've ever had, but this is Dutch country so what did you expect?
Decided to check out this place for brunch when I was on my way to a wedding at Skytop. Â Based on the reviews, I thought I was really in for a treat. Even though the service was great, the food was mediocre. Yes, the portions are ginormous, but do I necessarily want extra hash browns with my side of eggs? Can't I just have the eggs?
I also ordered the pork biscuit with country gravy. It was a huge disappointment. The gravy was tasteless. The biscuit was heavy and not the flaky, fluffy biscuits we have down South. My dining companion ordered the BBQ sampler. The kielbasa was the best part - the brisket was super fatty and flavorless. The pulled pork had a weird sweetness to it.
Also, they wouldn't give us any vegetables. Our server's response was, 'we don't have vegetables, they're only for the omelettes.' So we tried to order a salad, but it came with very little lettuce and smothered in cheese.
Wouldn't come back here.
OMG! Â Probably one of the top 5 breakfast I've had. Â We stopped here after our stay at Mt Airy for breakfast. Â I had the 3 Little Piggies combo, and my wife had the pumpkin pancakes, both were done to perfection. Â On our next trip up this way, we will definitely be revisiting this place.
Review Source:Got the special - 2 sliders (brisket & pulled pork). Â Both were dry, especially the brisket. Â
Also ordered the sweet potato (tater tots). They were good, but not enough to bring the meal up to 5 stars.
We'll try somewhere else for lunch on the next trip.
The breakfast menu looked attractive.
This place is great. I decided to take the trip here today to check it out. So worth it. Huge portions , but the quality of food was amazing. It was a little pricey but well worth the money. I highly recommend this spot if you are up in the Pocono area. It's only 2 minutes off route 80. Check this place out you will not be disappointed.
Review Source:The portions are huge. The restaurant is nice. Old country restaurant with nice people. Two people can eat one meal. The prices are fairly expensive. Billy's pocono diner down the road is less but they give you less food. Both places are the same quality. I wouldn't go crazy over the food. Its OK. Not bad. But not "best I've ever had!" lol.
Review Source:I've lived in the area for 23 years and just ate breakfast here for the first time on November 11, 2012 with my son and I feel like the last 22 years have been marginalized from a breakfast stand point. This is without question the best breakfast I have had in the Poconos and will go nowhere else but here and Besecker's.
Review Source:I really like going here for breakfast - if you like breakfast "protein"; lots of smoked meats this is the place for you. The meats are a bit greasy but that's part of the flavor, and they are always fresh.
The service is good, the meals come fast and there is a lot to look at if you have kids with. Â
When I think about it and have time I try to grab some breakfast here.
Not only was the breakfast tasty it was good value for money. The old 1950's roadside decor and ambiance made the place feel like one of those places my parents used to frequent on summer vacation road trips. And as an added bonus they were open Easter Sunday so we didn't have to eat the horrible 'buffet' at Great Wolf Lodge again.
Review Source:Hands down the best country breakfast my wife and I have ever had. Â
We shared the smoked meat sampler with eggs and french toast. Â I believe the sausages are cured and smoked inhouse. Â The quality and flavors are apparent and sets this place apart from the competition. Â
All of it from the kitchy room and service made for a wonderful experience. Â I can't see myself passing through this area and not stopping by again.
Everything from the excellent barbecue to the greeting by the manager (owner?) to the cheerful waitress, to the kid dressed up like a pig in the parking lot was first rate. Enjoyed the brisket and ribs. Sauce had just the right amount of bite. Comfort food in a comfortable restaurant.
Review Source:We have been there for breakfast and dinner and bother were excellent. Â Breakfast all came out hot and fresh. Â Good flavor. Â Had a sampler with eggs and about 5 different meats - all were excellent - Wow! Â Kids enjoyed the pancakes. Â 14 people and everyone raved about their meal. Â Good coffee.
At dinner, the ribs were outstanding - the best I have had in the Poconos. Â All good and not overpriced.
Good for families and larger groups. Â Yes, it's all served in a pan.
Yes, it is true. Â The pan of food is awesome and everything is fresh country cooked. Â I had the meat of choice (bacon of course) with 2 eggs, while Dear Husband had the meat sampler with yummy corn-pancakes... in a pan! Â Phyllis was a super sweet server and made the strat of the last day of our mountain trip great!
However, don't bother using a GPS to find this place, just got down RR 611 and you can't miss it :) Â we learned the hard way, but the near-off-roading was very scenic.
You can pass by this place on the way to any other number of diners or restaurants when you're on 611. Allow me to explain why.
Tacky signage and a dim, drab dining room greet you. I was sat at a dirty table and it took FOREVER for the waitress to get to me. Now, I've worked in the industry and I tend to think I'm a pretty patient person with matters such as this, but I was getting impatient.
I ordered some pancakes with strawberry topping, and a side of this special ham, which I perhaps mistakenly thought would be served in a pan.. since it's all over their literature and all.
Anyways.. the pancakes come out and have this gritty, frozen texture to them.. seriously, like they came from a box. The "strawberry topping" they put on it.. well, I don't know where it came from but it came in a half-frozen, half-gelatinized clump. GROSS!
And this ham? It came on a dirty bread plate and was the most POS, dried out, quarter sliver of ham that I've ever seen. With a small glass of juice.. my bill was fourteen-something and change.
AVOID THIS TOURIST TRAP!
Gets Crowded on weekends in the am. Refills are not free. We have not tried the lunch menu, but breakfast is very nice. Try the smokehouse sampler to taste all the different yummy breakfast meats. They serve the meals to you in the pan in which they are cooked. We will be back. We have been several times and usually have had good service, but there is the occasional unfriendly waitress like Phyllis.
Review Source:Enjoyed a great family breakfast here over the weekend, and very much enjoyed the entire experience.
I just can't render a 5 star review here...as this place would certainly get a 4.5 from my if I had half points to choose from.
I had eggs in the pan (like the time before) with the home fries and onions. Â Charging $.50 extra for onions..? Â Seriously...come on ..WHY? Â I needed to season the potatoes and onions also. Â My grapefruit juice looked a little strange (very dark), but tasted fine. Â Hmmm. Â So..a couple of misses, but minor ones.
The pancakes and other sides for the rest of the family where good also. Â The last time I was here I had the ham...which was fantastic.
This will always be a stop for our family for breakfast whenever we are in the area.
