One word...COCKROACHES! One in bathroom and dead one against the wall and they were large! Over it!

Our visit was in July '12. We booked on Priceline and were super-stoked about the crazy low price we got...until I read the reviews.  So, I was warned about the sketch-area and the even sketchier "private garage".  Our visit was in July '12.

We arrived super late and I went inside to check-in.  Had to dodge some of the sketch dudes out there.  They left me along and I ran in but apparently were trying to talk to my husband who was waiting in the car with an infant and two sleeping kids.  I asked the front desk clerk about the safety of the garage and he assured me that it was private.

Fast forward to getting the kids awake and unpacking our car as quickly as we could...a man approaches us and starts asking for money.  He told my husband that he'd be decent since he recognized that my husband was with his family.  Ummmm...what?  What would you do if he wasn't with his wife and kids??  Anyway...we somehow made it into the hotel and into our room.  Our room was so nice but once thing we noticed as we got off the elevator...it was HOT.  The room was no better and we thought it just needed time to cool off.  Well, it never did and only got HOTTER.  

I mentioned it at checkout and the front desk guy mentioned that it was broken.  That's it...no apologies or anything.  Ummmm...ok, so much for the Holiday Inn guarantee.

Definitely steer clear unless you don't care about sketch people and hot rooms and just want a cheap room

If you stay in this hotel, get back to your room before the sun gets down.

The hotel is located in bad part of town. The park across the street has a transient camp and the general downtown area has seen better days.

The hotel itself is very old. Although it was recently renovated and the rooms and lobby look new, the air conditioning in many rooms is terrible. The room does not have individual units, but are tied to one large duct for each floor. The entire 3rd floor A/C was broken and couldn't cool below 78 deg (some rooms are worse, as seen in the pictures)! After trying three different rooms on the 3rd floor, I finally got a room on the 6th floor, which was 72 deg.

The staff is the one positive. I did speak to a lot of them trying to move my room around and they were nothing but professional and helpful. The bartender was also great, allowing me to hang out at the bar while he cleaned up, so I could watch a hockey game which wasn't showing in my room. I also saw him take an order for dinner from another guest, even though the kitchen had already started to close down. Hopefully, they can renovate the hotel to bring it up to par with the 5 star staff.
