Very aesthetically pleasing bar with nice staff and customers! Â My roller derby league was skating through Tower promoting our next bout, etc. and a really nice lady flagged us down and invited us into the bar. Â Then she bought us all a round of drinks on her! Â We posed for pictures and mingled with the other bar patrons. Â We all had a great time!
Review Source:I have been reluctant to write a review of Tower Sports Club because I really want to love this place, but after my most recent experience, I finally felt compelled to Yelp...
I have been coming here off and on since it opened. I am a Livingstone's person, but come here to mix things up. The venue itself is decorated with care and attention. I am sensitive to ambiance, and this place delivers. Most likely the ambiance is the reason I want to love this place so much. Drinks are cheap, and usually poured on the heavy side. Cheap drinks and a heavy pour? I can get on board with this.
The bartenders are another story - they're terrible. The older, sloppily dressed lady takes her sweet time to pour a drink. She's been taking her time for months - would think she'd get the hang of it by now. She's nice enough, awkward as hell, but she's no bartender. They have a younger guy now who is more bartender material, but doesn't know his liquor. I'm sure this will improve. The venue is gorgeous - the owner obviously has pride in it - so why not take the time to properly train your bartenders??
But let's get to the dirty. A few weeks ago, after finally deciding this place has the worst well vodka in Tower, my friend takes issue with the pour on his Guinness beer. The owner's response, you may be wondering? "I've been pouring beer for eight months!" Wow - you really showed him! Note to self: don't order a Guinness here! But then it got worse...
A bystander was listening in on this short Guinness-induced conversation between my friend and the owner, and this intoxicated bystander decides to get into an argument with the owner after my friend relinquishes and returns to our small group. The owner - with full right - decides to kick him out. That's fine. The bystander was pissed off and wasn't leaving. As the young male bartender came around the bar to, I assume, escort the intoxicated man out, the owner PULLED OUT A BAT and THREATENED the guy! Not knowing really what was happening - all I saw was the owner threatening a patron with a weapon!
Needless to say, I don't feel safe at Tower Sports Club any longer. I really wanted to like this place... The End.
