About what you would expect from a night club / sports bar in Taualtin.
The food is not great, but then i don't go for the food.
The drinks are inexpensive and cold.
Plenty of flat screens to watch the games.
The bar and bathrooms are clean.
It's close ish to my house.
There's a decent pool table.
Lastly, the weekend Djs and regulars take themselves pretty seriously, so that's entertaining.
This weekend was kind of a sports blowout for me. College football all day Saturday and pro football all day Sunday. So when i arrived at the hot seat Sunday i was peacefully tired and in a good place mentally.
The restaurant/bar has too many TV for me to count and one large screen centrally located so no matter where you sit you could get a view of it. They also have a patio with a small TV and several tables and chairs and smoking is allowed out there.
Our waitress was very kind and, well, HOT! She was prompt at refilling our drinks and hooking us up with food. We were never in need of anything.
We started off with the king of bar food ,nachos. The chips were thin and crunchy but got pretty soggy as all the toppings soaked in. The nachos had all the usual toppings, 2 kinds of cheese, jalapenos, olives, chicken, sour cream and guacamole and were served with salsa. The price was $6.45 plus $1.45 for the chicken and was a more than adequate appetizer for 2 people. I would order them again without hesitation. Not my favorite nachos ever but eatable for sure.
We had several beers which were nice and cold then my friend ordered some fish and chips. They are not hand battered but had a decent flavor none the less and came with a large serving of fries and some dipping sauce that wasn't to good at all. The dipping sauce was mostly mayo with a few seasonings, so not my kind of sauce for fish.
So, it's a sports bar with OK food, kind and hot waitresses, cold beer, lots of screens, and a good football crowd. If that's not what your looking for then you gotta find somewhere else. If you want to watch sports and drink beer head on down you'll have a good time.
p.s the best part of the night was, of course, the cowboys loosing.
Just looking for a place for a beer and an appetizer while driving through Tualatin, we decided on Hot Seat. It was a Sunday afternoon so football was on probably 20 tv's or more. It was loud but oh well, what did we expect for a sports bar. Our server was really nice. Even though we chose a booth far in the back, she was very attentive. We ordered a couple beers and a mini nacho off the happy hour menue (happy hour all day sunday). The nacho was ehh, ok, decent toppings but many the chips were all stuck together in stacks and hadn't fried to a crisp so they were soggy with greese. Not nearly enough salsa on the side for a nacho that size. My husband thought she was an outstanding waitress though and insisted on leaving her a 50% tip. LOL
Review Source:I will caveat this by saying that the Hot Seat is a place I've only been to twice. On my first visit, I had the pleasure of being entertained in a way that was quite unique - at least to me. I have a lovely youtube of the evening at http://www.youtube.com/w… which still makes me crack up.
The second visit was completely benign and normal for a strip mall suburban bar. Â Good drinks, not as great patrons. Â Lots and lots of smoking and really inebriated younger people.
I will not be returning, but oh the fun I had the first night. Â Thank you for being the venue for what has turned into quite the YouTube gem.
I've only actually been here once and that was for breakfast. Â Its a nice sports bar lots of Duck/Beaver stuff all around and lots of TV's. Â Looks like it would be a good place to catch a game. Breakfast was ok, nothing outstanding but I'll be back this fall to catch some football games i'm sure.
Review Source:Depends on what your expectations are.
If you're looking for a sports bar in the suburbs that has cold beer and bar food, and is a good place to watch the game, then this place is great. Â If you're looking for something more you may be disappointed.
When I'm in the area I meet work friends here for happy hour and it works just fine.
Based off my previous review, I must've been in the sun too much...
Aftet a swing and a miss at Kraven's (closed down) we hit up Hot Seat on the way home to avoid the rush. Â I got here around 5pm and it was rather busy, loads of people were bellyed up on the stools, tables were full, and the pool table was empty. SWEET!! Â
So I decided to go with a scotch on the rocks and shoot a few games before my wife arrived. Â As I approached the table, I thought to myself, "damn! no lights over head?" Â But as I got situated, a really nice guy pointed out there was a switch on the wall to turn on some lights embedded in the ceiling. Â The guy had to be a owner or something, totally put off the owner vibe. Â He gets 1 star out of this review. Â Once I found a cue stick and was ready to play, I realized that it's $1.00 a game and it's bills only, no quarters...I call BULLSHIT, not only is that highway robbery, but it has to be bills?? Yeaaah, whatever....It should've been .25 a game after I cleaned off the felt....but I digress...
The bar tender on shift was NOTHING like the first guy we encountered on our 4 star visit. Â I kid you not, this guy was wearing a Santa Hat that read, "Bah Hum Bug!" Â I get the joke, but the dude was living up to it, a serious Scrooge with a twist of Grinch. Â I dont expect someone to "pretend" to be my friend, but you can at least "pretend" to like you job.
My wife showed up, we shot a game, and some fajitas came out to a table near by. Â I admit, they smelled devine. Then again, Horse shit on shingles would've smelled the same considering how hungry we were. Â My wife approaches the Scrooge and politely says, "Can I get a happy hour menu for food?" Â His response was, "Go get one off one of the tables!" Â Now this could be considered a normal response, BUT when the bar back looks at dude like he's crazy, PICKS UP A MENU from behind the bar and hands it to us, I find it not so normal. Â What a douche....The barback gets the other star. Â With that in mind, food was scratched off the list...
Simply enough, We wont be back to Hot Seat...it's a bummer because I really liked the feel of the place. Meh....Not worth it though....Especially around PDX
This bar is a home away from home. Great bartenders and servers. Always friendly people. Some servers are far better than others. Definitely if you have a larger group (more than 2) Sara is an awesome server! Always has a smile on her face and never have had any sort of problem. Drinks come on time & food is placed correctly. Two others who have been absolutely amazing are Christina and Holly. Wonderful ladies who make returning to Hot Seat always enjoyable. Jamie however...not so much. (Unless you have a small group, then maybe) Had several bad experiences w/ her on not remembering to put orders in, order the correct thing, or even enter the correct thing on our bills.
Love the Tuesday night trivia they have. Always a fun and entertaining experience. They have karaoke on the weekends too!
The bartender was aggressive and rude. I think he was trying on cute smart *** and really missed the boat. I won't go back. And just because you have a bloody mary bar does not mean I want to pay someone so I can make my own bloody mary. The bartender was snotty when I simply said I would take his own version rather than use the salmonella mary bar. Anyhow, the blonde cocktail waitress was very sweet.
Review Source:I ordered a half-pound of their unbreaded chargrilled chicken tenders, laced with their habanero sauce ($5.95). Loved the heat on the chicken, but the chicken itself (unappealing strips) was just plain dry. Appalling presentation as well. Then again, I shouldn't expect world-class presentations at a sports bar, right? in all fairness, I got pretty good service and some free popcorn.
Review Source:This place has the potential to be a place great if only they could decide on being a sports bar or a meat market. Â They recently added tons of flat screens which is great if there is a game on but if its an evening game you will watch the game on mute while they blast music or worst people singing Karaoke during the last inning or during overtime.
For Tualatin its OK but it could be so much better!!
FIRST AND LAST visit. Service and food was excellent....EXCEPT.... There were six of us first time customers looking for a good local sports bar to watch a Red Sox/NY game and music was so loud, we could not hear nor talk. Sorry that we won't be going back there. No kidding! We asked the waitress if they cold just turn it down a little bit. She agreed that it was too loud and said that customers often ask them to turn it down and the management refuses to. This is just amazing that they would not accommodate a simple customer request. Poor management.......Buh-bye Hot Seat;
Review Source:I've gone karaoking a few times now and this place was a good fit for me. Â I still get to belt it out but don't have to feel like I am onstage pretending to be a singer in front of people who likely would rather I didn't sing. Â The karaoking here is more like background noise-present, but not overbearing. Â First time (and last time) I was here, there was some great people watching drama happening. Â Can't wait until next time (Saturday night, around 9; hope you can join us!).
