I have NO idea why their rating is as low as it is on here!

Met my dad here for lunch, he was visiting from out of town. It was fairly close to his hotel, I figured he would appreciate the beers on tap too. I had my mouth set on steak and potatoes at 3p. LoL It was going down.

My waitress was very polite and attentive, we sat in a booth in the bar area. I'm bad with names but never forget a face, so forgive me I don't remember hers. She was an average height black woman with shoulder length hair. Anyway, she recommended a fantastic salad to my dad (who is watching his girlish figure) and a great glass of wine to pair with my steak and potatoes. Add a side of broccoli to that and you've got one happy girl happy to share a decent meal with her father. He enjoyed it too!

I have been here about 4 other times when I was visiting the area, and every time my steak was juicy, cooked to perfection, and my potatoes were the same. (Well, not juicy, but you get my drift). I've even eaten here alone with my large Long Island Iced Tea (and I'm talking LARGE LoL And only $9!) and my iPad propped up on their wifi and enjoyed every minute of it.

Friendly staff and decent food! They have great happy hour specials and a large bar area. Food is decent, but not spectacular! I definitely recommend their wings!

We went for my daughters 16 birthday.  The service was slow for a Tuesday evening.  The food was ok at best.  My daughter ordered crab cakes and they were burnt on the bottom.  I informed the waiter, and then the manager came over. He proceeded to tell me how the crab cakes weren't actually burnt.  Because it was my daughters birthday I didn't want to make to big of a scene so I let it go.  The manager then took one, of the crab cakes off the bill.  The one they took back to the kitchen and threw away.  Thanks we only had to pay for one burnt crab cake.  The rest of the food was ok, not great.

Stopped here on a road trip and the food was great!  We tried the fried pickles, pot roast fries (I can't remember what they're really called), BBQ pork sliders, and a burger.  Everything was top notch and the pot roast fries are something I'm still thinking about.  The gravy was pure perfection!  I'll be finding a way back here or to another location soon.

Went there for dinner around 630pm on Saturday and was seated right away. The wait staff was pleasant and helpful. The food was very good and warm.
The only problem was portion size. My Tai chicken was delicious but that was the smallest breast I have ever seen. It looked like they pounded it out a bit to make it look bigger. They were also skimpy with the about of french fries on two other meals. My wife's salad was the only meal I would consider large and properly sized.

The food was an easy 5/5. I know!  I was surprised too.  I dined here on a Monday night with my sister and my 2 year old.  The restaurant wasn't full but there was a decent crowd.  It seemed like almost everyone had a child in their party.  I ordered the 5oz salmon simply prepared and a side salad with salsa as dressing.  Little man wanted the pizza and strawberries.  The salmon was cooked perfectly, a great portion.  I loved the pieces of bread and the grilled asparagus over arugula with some type if balsamic sauce.  The pizza looked like typical frozen pizza and my son refused to eat it.  Gotta love 2 year olds.  He ate his strawberries and most of my bread.  My sister went with the sirloin, mashed potatoes and green beans.  She said it was really good.  Our server was kind and efficient with the exception of the 10-15min after he dropped our drinks and coming back to take our order.  All together is was an excellent meal with a few areas in need of improvement.  I would happily dine here again.  They make eating healthy easy and tasty.

Definitely one of the better Houlihan's in this chain of fern bar style restaurants.  I have always found the wait staff to be pleasant and helpful and the food to be tasty and predictable.

It can get pretty crowded at lunchtime so go early (before 12 if possible) to ensure good seating.  They can accommodate large parties.

My favorite?  The 1/2 price bottle of wine night - and you can take home the rest of the bottle!

It's on the same level as Friday's, Chilli's, Olive Garden. The Sangria was really good. I'd go for a game night, and sitting at the bar.

Went here after a volleyball game with my team, and we, surprisingly, got in very quickly. There were a ton of menu items to choose from, but I ended up deciding on the chicken enchiladas. They were really good, and a decent price. The lemonade that I ordered was alright, but I do tend to prefer uber-sweet lemonade, so it's not often that it comes out the way I like it. Good place overall, and if we end up winning another game, I wouldn't mind coming here again :)

sweeettt!!! My first review of Houlihan's actually got taken off of YELP because it apparently violated a few guidelines.I honestly have no clue why as I literally just expressed my dislike for the food. So I'll keep this review short and simple-- BAD.

Love their food. Like the remodels. Wish the one by us in Christiana, DE hadn't closed.

I go to Houlihan's specifically when I am craving their buffalo bleu salad.  Beware though, this IS NOT the type of salad you should order when you are trying to fit into you favorite pair of skinny jeans.   I don't even want to know how many calories are in that puppy.  At any rate, the chicken is perfectly juicy and tender with just enough buffalo sauce, the blue cheese dressing is creamy and delicious and it is topped with a fresh large slice of gorgonzola cheese.  Yummy!

I have also had their steak salad, sliders, french onion soup, and have been satisfied with all of them but something always draws me back to the buffalo bleu salad.

It has a bit of a chain feel to it but it is most definitely a step above most of your run-or-the-mill larger chains.

We have never had bad service and there are a few of their male servers who are excellent.   However, the last few times we have been, the service has been slow and unattentive and our last server seemed like she was annoyed to be working.

I would still happily give them 4 stars but they fall very short with their selection of alcohol.  They have a great cocktail menu, but I've never ordered a cocktail there that I have actually liked.  Their mojitos are too syrupy, their flavored martinis are overly sweet, and their wine list lacks anything of high quality but is still priced high.  I've never ordered beer here since their beer selection is also lacking.  Although, if I remember correctly they have fat tire on tap, which is a plus for me.

Overall, Houlihans is a good choice for a quick lunch but it's not something that comes to my mind when I want a nice selection of drinks to choose from.

I usually am easy going with food and have I high tolerance but this place I wish I could give 0 stars, I have NEVER had a good dining here and I feel I have been treated rudely when trying to address this. Might be just me but I hope your experience is better.

I try to stop at this little place and meet a friend for lunch/dinner whenever I'm passing through this part of Maryland.  It's one of the few chains I really enjoy and since these restaurants have dropped like flies in the past...I cling to this one.

I originally chose this place because they give you a free plate of fries when you check in on Foursquare...but after trying most of the small plates and appetizers, I knew that it would be a regular for me.  When I lived in Maryland, we were here all the time and I even hosted an American Cancer Society Relay for Life fundraiser here and they were very accommodating!

For my last visit, I got my free plate of pickle fries and the mac n cheese.  I also highly suggest the tuna wontons...they aren't very filling but they taste amazing!

If you're in this shopping area or looking for a place around that is moderately priced and a good atmosphere, check this place out!  And don't forget to check in!

Good food and good portions. The best time to go in my opinion would be happy hour. You can get several of the big small plates for just $6 each. Get a few of them and share them with the table. Every time I have gone there I have had good service.

If you haven't already, you have got to try their fried pickles (in the shape of fries). They are excellent and make a great appetizer. Overall the food and atmosphere was good, but the service was a bit slow --- even during a low period when they were fully staffed.

For the salad dressing folks; the ranch dressing was not all that good ---- but their blue cheese dressing was great.

Not bad. Got in right away on a Saturday night. Though it was a little on the early side. I had the grilled rosemary chicken. It was served hot with great rosemary taste. Not dried out. Mashed potatoes and green beans on the side were fine. Also sampled the ribs. They were judged very good. Fries OK.

My first time visiting this restaurant was in Hershey, PA & the experience was so AWESOME so imagine my excitement when I found one closer to where I live, but this time was experience was an EPIC FAIL!!!!

The first thing was they tried to seat us by the bathroom when the restaurant was not crowded...the second thing was that the food was not hot and they bought the children's food last, where do they do that? The icing on the cake was how Anna, the waitress, never brought me my soup & tried to double charge me for unlimited drinks. When I brought it to her attention she got smart w/ me said she fixed the discrepancy but came back with the same bill...the only saving grace was that the manager corrected the bill but this experience has really soured me on returning to this location.

I'm long overdue to update my review of Houlihan's. I've been back numerous times and I think its a good option for a low key dinner or happy hour in the neighborhood. First off, please sign up for their e-mail list! They will have periodic deals for buy one entree get one free or similar deals and they give you a free entree for your birthday. We always use our free birthday meals here! Lately, my husband and I have really been loving their sirloin entree served with mashed potatos and veggies. I also had a burger recently that was cooked perfectly. Its a nice atmosphere inside, they have a bar area, and a private room for events too. The happy hour specials are good and they have an enormous selection of appetizers, I've been dying to come here with a group so I can sample them all! I'm not really a fan of popular chains like Ruby Tuesdays, Applebees, etc. so Houlihans is about as close as I get and I definitely think its a step above those other places.

My wife, son, and I love Houlihan's for the rare times we get to eat out as a family.  The atmosphere is nice and the dinning room is spacious.  My 5 year old has autism and is on a special diet.  They have always been extremely accommodating.  The food is consistently good and the service has always been timely.  This is a restaurant I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Houlihan's is the safety school of restaurants. Not bad, not great, but reliable. There's a wide enough menu that pretty much anyone will be able to find something they like. Service and ambiance are good, and there's a full bar with a decent beer selection and cocktails. When you don't want think too hard about where to go for dinner, this is your answer.

I'll definitely agree that it's like TGI Friday's trendier, classier cousin. Came for lunch with my coworkers after being in the area doing a volunteer project earlier in the day. For the appetizers, we got spinach artichoke dip and nachos which were both really good. I had the baked potato soup and the salmon Caesar salad. Both were good but I felt incredibly sick afterwards, and wasn't quite sure what to attribute that to. Possibly because one of my coworkers found a tiny piece of metal in her food about halfway through eating it. They took it off the bill and the manager came over but still, ew, and not safe.

The menu is pretty large and diverse (well, diverse American food) so it's probably good for a group of people.

*knocks wood* I've never had a bad meal here. Ever.

A great place for dinner and happy hour (read: really GOOD specials), Houlihan's is my go-to spot when I'm in Columbia/Elkridge area.

Appetizers:: Foursquare has a "free frites" (reg price $4-4.50)) deal that I can never resist. The Frites Bar offers several dishes, but I'm partial to DISCO FRIES (w/poutine, mozzarella and pot roast with gravy), PARMESAN FRITES (w/assorted sauces) and TRUCKSTOP FRIES (w/chipotle cheese sauce).

Entrée:: This is one of those places where I always want to order three meals and eat them all at once! Instead, I end up eating there and ordering a meal TO GO. The BUFFALO BLEU SALAD is my go-to meal. There's a ton of toppings on this large salad; saucy and spicy chicken breast, chunks of bacon, red onions and garlic ranch, just to name a few. This salad is more than enough to share, but I doubt you'll want to.

The STUFFED CHICKEN BREAST is another win.

The ENCHILADAS w/CHIPOTLE SMOKED CHICKEN is the best mexican food I've had from a non-Mexican restaurant.

Drinks:: There's a full bar and plenty of cocktails to choose from. I'll take the SKINNY MARGARITA and/or SKINNY RASPBERRY MOJITO. Please and thank you!

After all of the good things people were saying I was expecting more. It wasn't bad, in fact it was pretty good...none of us are looking for pretty good. There were a few things I liked but it is no better then TGIFridays or the like.
I may even be back, but damn it could have easily have been better.

Upon entering Houlihan's I was greeted by several hostesses (they might have too many!) who were all extremely helpful and friendly. I met up with my boss and a couple co-workers for a lunch meeting. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad which was excellent. It came with these strange little cheese bread triangle piece things (?!) on the side. They were pretty good, always cool to have a little "extra" that gives the dish some personality. I would definitely go back to try more food, and hopefully then up the stars on this review!

It's good - it's like TGI Friday's trendier, classier cousin. If you have friends that aren't really into ethnic food and like standard american fare, this is a great choice.

I have eaten in the dining room a few times, but the bar is our usual choice. The staff is friendly, and the small plates are tasty.

Mac & Cheese - it has bacon, sour cream, scallions; it's super creamy and definitely not health food.

Stuffed 'Shrooms - did not like these at all. It's filled with some kind of creamy stuff like that Alouette garlic spread and was a total turn-off. Skip it.

Calamari - awesome! Served in a little take-out box with a spicy sauce garnishing the plate and a tart ginger dipping sauce.

    Lettuce Wraps - tasty

Asian-style Ribs - much much meatier than we expected and the sauce is sweet and delicious

Scallops - I haven't had them, but my girlfriend LOVES them.

Spinach Dip w Cheesy Lavosh Crackers  - get them with tortilla chips intead. The lavosh crackers are not crisp once they douse them with sour cream, they are huge and awkward, not very good. The dip itself is fine, just skip the lavosh.

Petite Filet (4 oz) with 2 sides for less than $13... pretty great deal.

Honest Gold Mashers - it doesn't really matter what entree you get, these mashed potatoes are the truth.

X Rated Flirtini - pink and delicious!! Tastes like passionfruit and champagne. It's great.

They will bring you a Long Island iced tea in a freaking pitcher (Really, it's a giant handled mug with a spout) for $9.50. Pretty awesome.

Overall, for a chain, this place is pretty decent with a trendy lively decor and a fun crowd. I prefer the small plates when it comes to soaking up my liquor, but I'm sure the full size ones are fine too.

I love this place, I grew up in NY and went to the Houihans and loved it. When this place opened I was so excited. Even though this is a chain Houlihans can be very different depending on the place. Great service, good food and they put up with my two year old with a smile.

I really like their Brentwood chicken sandwich. They also have the BEST honey mustard in the world. I also really love the pot roast and i normaly hate pot roast. Good drink selection.

    Over Priced....

Overly Trendy for what it is...

    Pedestrian Menu.....

    Service is meh...

    Location is good?!

I just can't see myself even giving this place another try.  I've gone twice, first time because I've never been and the second time was because I let me friend Kevin pick.  NEVER AGAIN! I'll pick up the tab to go elsewhere next time!

Houlihans is a chain restaurant that reminds me of a more modern and trendy-looking Friday's.  Unfortunately, it's pretty mediocre and over-priced.  I'd avoid coming here if you can.

Burgers were just average as were most of the sides. The mashed potatoes were particularly bad.  It was way too buttery; those mashed potato mixes you can buy in the supermarket taste far better than Houlihan's offering.  The fried pickles however, were a bright spot in the meal.  They were nicely fried and had a good ratio of breading and pickles so that neither overwhelms the other.  The dipping sauce is good too.

Overall though, there isn't much of a reason to come here.  If you want American or bar food, there are plenty of other options in the area.

    Average. Average. Average.

I've been to other Houlihans before, and this one is very similar.   Average tasting food, but pretty good service.
They have changed their menu since the last time I came, and I like how you can order small plates of stuff, if none of their standard meals are to your liking.

The food is not the highest quality - but it is the variety that makes me like this place. They have a menu of small plates, and you can get 2-4 of those for your dinner. By boyfriend and I split 7 of them, everything from cheeseburger sliders, to scallops, to fried mushrooms. None of these items were "the best ever" but it was cool to try 7 different things in one meal.
What really saves this place is the dessert. The Italian Donoughts are deep fried cinnamon, with white chocolate baileys dipping sauce. They are sooo good. They also have those little mini desserts, which everyone loves. Don't get the S'Mores, the marshmallow thing is gross and the graham crackers are coated in sugar, which is even grosser tasting than it sounds.

A chain franchise that serves decent food.  I've been to this one in Elkridge and to the one in Indianapolis.  Both are consistent with their fares and preparations.
I like the 'shrooms appetizer.  The battered mushrooms goes really well with the mustard dip.  The french onion soup is lackluster.
The Tillamook burger is pretty good and so is the stuffed chicken (think chicken kiev).  The salads are hit and miss though.  Skip the asian salad or prime steak and wedge salad.  Those were meh..  The grilled chicken salad or buffalo blue salad were pretty good.
Overall, it's decent food, but a bit pricey.

Houlihan's serves basic cookie-cutter American restaurant cuisine. The food is comparable to Friday's, though ever-so-slightly more adventurous (and slighty overpriced).

I've come here on several occasions and have left satisfied with the food. I've yet to be either wowed or unhappy with it. The tuna wonton appetizer looks better in concept (on the menu) than in reality (on my plate). The pot roast is a bit boring. Interestingly, I find myself happier with their cheaper menu items: sandwiches are slightly better than average; also their low-priced "mini-dessert"'s are great. Even if I'm with one friend we can get 3 desserts which are perfectly sized to share between the two of us.

The restaurant itself is built with dark colors and straight edges giving it a clean, trendy feel. Honestly, the restaurant is more visually appealing than the food would lend itself to. The service is average. Parking is usually a bit crowded close to the restaurant, but there is ample parking throughout the large shopping center that surrounds it.

Recommended eat if you're looking for something that feels familiar - as in Fridays/Bennigans/Ruby's.

I believe this place is a chain, there is one in down town B-more.
I stopped by there on a Saturday night for a quick drink and snack.
It looks like a cool place when you come in, but it really is just a normal restaurant.  We had a beer and an appetizer of chicken fingers and spinach dip.  The tenders were pretty normal and nothing special about them, the spin dip was good, it had the big cheesy flat bread things for dipping.
I looked at the rest of the menu and it did not look like it was anything special.  Steak, salmon, salads, normal American food.  i was expecting something special or unique based on the exterior and name.  Maybe i was hoping to to much.
I will have to back and try something more then appetizers.
