It's a little bit of everything...
Sports bar when sports are on - AND they have the volume on of the game.
When the games are over - they'll have live music most weekend nights, or DJs on the other nights. Â If you go during the day they have good prices on bar food (good burgers) and great booze selection. Â Just need more Michigan beers!!
This is an HP lifer Local Yokel...
On any given Thursday, for me, it can be like a high school reunion... this can be good or bad..but it's strangely comforting. Â They have a pool table and dance floor, a small stage for DJs and bands.. They have karaoke during the week but I can't remember what day.. and usually on weekends they alternate bands and DJ. Â They have a sign on the street that they keep nicely updated so you know what's going on that week.
The thing I love about Shammies is that there is another outside area, privacy-fenced in, that you can smoke if you want, or get away from the band. They usually have either dance music being piped in through the speakers, or another DJ outside. Â They have these awesome huge heaters too, so even in the winter you'll be pretty warm out there. Â There is another bar out there too, so I guess you could say it's 2 bars in 1. Â
Drinks are reasonable and the crowd is pretty decent. Â
If you're in the area, it's the greatest of the bars in HP, and there are quite a few for such a small city! Â LOL
Come up on a Thursday, and you just might see me there! Â :) Â
/Patio party!!!
Shams is a great neighborhood joint offering live music and a spacious outdoor seating area (covered and heated in the Winter).
It is a great place for large groups to gather and have a great time.
This place offers something for everyone and the crowd reflects its inclusive diversity.
Enjoy!
I went here with a friend last Saturday to see a band, I think they were called Longneck Stranglers or something. The band was O.K. I wasn't really impressed w/ anything about this place...there was just a bunch of meat head guys and desperate girls in too tight dresses and tube tops.
Typical bar scene: smoky, loud, crowded, annoying people. I guess if I were a little younger and a little less jaded it would have been a better time. I guess the best part about it was the live music, and they had this punching bag thing that looked like it would be fun to take your frustrations out on!
