This was such a fun place to be at! Â The Hoxton was more than accommodating to our large group of ladies. Â Service was excellent! Food and drinks were also great! Â But the best part of the whole experience was the entertainment! Â We could not stop dancing to the live band. Â They played a variety of music from 80's, 90's, latin and today's hits. Â We definitely had an amazing time and look forward to coming back again soon!
Review Source:I was invited here by Nick Elias for an event held Tuesday night and put on by The Recording Academy. We had a blast. This is a great place to hold a meet and greet as it is large and comfortable yet everyone can sort of hang and meet around the bar. The large bar sits right in the middle of the place and makes for a great conversation starter. They have half price Happy Hour from 5pm-8pm on all drinks and the bartenders were very attentive we didn't have to wait long to be served. The bathrooms are awesome. There is plenty of them on both the first and second floor. I know the girlies love that. The Recording Academy put together an awesome event. The place has a stage for live music and they brought some award winning recording artists that had everybody on their feet and moving to the Latin rhythm. Again great overall location of the stage. You get great view of the stage no matter where you are in the bar. I will be back.
Review Source:How obsessed am I with this place?! SUPER. I went on Saturday for the first time and even though the crowd was a little older than expected, the music was on point. The vibe in there is so nice and laidback , that you can't help but have fun. The drinks are fairly priced, but be warned they add their own gratuity (the reason I knocked off a star, I HATE THAT). Still the music was so good I couldn't stop dancing. It's a mix of salsa to hip hop to dance. MUSIC FOR EVERYONE! Deff happy to see this place in Brickell. Hope its here to stay
Review Source:I am torn on this review.
I hosted a Happy Hour event here recently for an organization. The attendees loved the event, but as the organizer, I was a bit frustrated.
Attendees: Cool, beachy vibe, which is perfect for a casual summertime networking happy hour. Everyone loved the extensive cocktail menu available for happy hour. Our group was also given a small corner just for us. Everyone at the event loved the venue.
Organizer: The events woman at Hoxton was hot and cold. Sometimes she would answer emails within hours and other times it took up to 10 days! She claimed that my emails were going to her Spam....not sure I entirely buy that; I have never had problems with my emails going to someone's Spam. Especially, when the email is a reply in a long string of emails.
The plated group apps were insanely priced. It was $3 for one piece of bruschetta (its just tomatoes and bread!), $3 for a single quarter sized crab cake and $4 for a single meatball in a bun. I asked for the apps to come out at multiple times through out the evening so the food would always be available and fresh (cold/hot as required). The first batch of food was to come out at 6:45pm. Nothing appeared till 7:40pm and everything came together. When the food finally did appear, there were no napkins or plates served with the food, nor were the meatball sliders hot or the bruschetta cold.
As a side note, I ordered the apps suggested by the events woman, in hopes that she would have known her kitchen and their best items. Clearly, not the case.
Additionally, as the night wore on, I wish the second bar next door to where our group was seat would have been opened, so it would have been easier to order drinks. Alas.
Bottomline: The happy hour drinks were awesome (most everything was $6 or less), but the food was a major bust, both in terms of price and quality. Also, Jack, the GM, worked really hard the night of the event, but was stretched thin.
All my friends have been raving about the Hoxton and now I know what the fuss is all about.
It's Saturday night... it's a group of 6... just want drinks. Â Where to go you ask? Â THE HOXTON.
First of all, expect first class treatment the minute you walk out of your car. Â Valet is $10 on a Saturday night which you know is unheard of in Miami. Â You get carded at the door but there's no line which you know in Miami is unheard of. Â
We went straight to the bar. Â The drink selection was pretty good. Â The drinks are a little pricey but typical for the area. Â There's couches everywhere which is nice. Â But don't expect to chat because the music is loud.
The music selection was a perfect mix of the 80's, 90's and today. Â
The decor was my favorite part of the night. Â You feel like you are in a boat house. Â You look out the tiny windows and almost forget that you are in Brickell. Â Did I mention that there are couches everywhere. Â You can dance your little feet until you are tired and then you can actually sit. Â Shocker I know!
Why not 5 stars? Â It could be because I went on a Saturday night but at some point it got way to packed and the place itself is not very spacious. Â The upstairs area was closed. Â So 2 hours later 100 people packed in a spot meant for 10 in Florida weather=hot, sweaty, humid and muggy. Â That was my cue to go somewhere else.
Overall I loved the Hoxton. Â I was impressed and will definitely be back. Â Maybe for a Friday night Happy Hour event.
Wow- this place is fabulous in every possible way. Â I heard about this gem through a friend and I am so happy I did!! Â My girlfriends and I were in town for a bachelorette party. Â We were looking for a place with great food, drinks, and ambiance. Â I made a reservation for our group of 15 for Friday night and the staff was happy to accommodate us. Â
Customer service was en pointe! Â The staff was very friendly and attentive throughout the night, even after we had paid our bill. Â We felt welcomed and at home here. Â We had dinner and bottle service. Â Being such a big group, we asked our waiter to pick several dishes for us to share and he happily obliged. Â Everything tasted incredible, even to my critical L.A. foodie tongue. Â We devoured everything! Â Some of my personal faves: fish & chips, duck poutine, and burrata & meatballs. Â The bottle service was great too. Â We always had plenty of mixers, limes, and anything else we needed. Â
The ambiance could not have been any better here. Â There is great energy! Â First off, the space is beautiful. Â It is obvious that a lot of thought went into every detail - both big and small. Â The decor and layout is fabulous. Â It's a large space but feels very warm and cozy. Â The crowd was good looking, friendly, and fun! Â Their live band was very talented and kept the crowd dancing. Â Â
My girlfriends and I had an absolute blast. Â If I lived in Miami, I'd be here all the time!! Â It seems like it'd be a great place not only for groups on the weekends but dinner/drinks during the week as well. Â I'll definitely be back when I return to Miami. Â The owners should think about opening a branch of The Hoxton in Los Angeles! :)
I live around the area and have always loved going to Hoxtons for drink and bites with my friends.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
The staff is very friendly and attentive ( i'm big on customer service)
DRINKS
The drinks are DELICIOUS my favorite is the HOXTONS LEMONADE
AMBIENCE
Beautiful decor ! Great place for a date or a night out with friends. I love how late night it becomes very lively with amazing music. I love hearing all types of music Spanish, House, Hiphop, top 40's etc and this place has it all.
Highly recommend coming here if you wanna have a good time !!!!
Nothing has changed since my last review. Â Same great food, same sexy ambiance, same Northeastern accents. Â But you know everything before "but" is bullshit. Â This casual, cosmopolitan beach house is perfect ... but ... only until 10:00. Â As the hours creep closer to midnight, the flashing strobe lights and music amplifiers turn up. Â Way up. Â The acoustics are awful, making it impossible to hear and the attempt to transform what could be a sophisticated lounge into a full-bottle nightclub is remarkably counterintuitive to the Hoxton's early evening vibe. Â Sometimes you really can't have the best of both worlds. Â Case in point.
Review Source:Hoxton is the place to be in brickell. Each quarter my firm does an outing to a local bar/restaurant for all the associates. Last quarter we went to the Hoxton & had a blast. The atmosphere was very sophisticated & had a relaxing beach feel. The prices were very reasonable which allowed us to indulge in 3 bottles. The entire staff looks like they just came from a sports illustrated photo shoot. The bar manager Beth accommodated our party because more people arrived & we needed a larger seating area. She moved us from downstairs to the upstairs VIP which has a great view of the entire bar. Our waitress was in her early 20's but took care of us like we were VIPS. TIP: try to get there a little early or request a table upstairs. TIP: they have a pool table hidden under the stairs. I found it looking for the restroom.
Review Source:The first time I went to The Hoxton was for a work-related event. I really liked the ambiance, the drinks were delicious and the staff super friendly. We sampled some of their food and everything was really good.
Since then, I've been back with my husband many times. I love their drink menu I usually start with the Indigo Lady and end with the Honey Rider. We tasted pretty much the whole food menu and there was nothing we didn't like! The last time we were there I noticed they added burrata to the menu as well as cheese and olives. We tried the burrata which they serve with meatballs and it was amazing!
We are having friends in town next week and I'm definitely bringing them to The Hoxton!
I could spend all night just admiring the decor. I love the vibe and feel of the Hoxton.
I didn't have a chance to try their menu items, but the hors d'oeuvres they handed out during an event were superb.
The drinks though, awful. Everything was so sweet they were undrinkable and call me crazy, but when I order a mojito, the last thing I'm expecting is a drink made out of mixers... and simply garnished with one little mint leaf. Come on.
The Hoxton, Urban Beach House. In BRICKELL? Huh?
I had never heard of this place till the beau brought it up, (a non-Yelper I may add). I immediately jumped on Yelp to see what the hell he was talking about. Skimming through the pictures I see pretty drinks and good food. Oh? Okay. BOOKMARKED.
That was 2 months ago.
Queue last Saturday, after spending the last month dealing with anything and everything legal and a new job. This little lady needed a drink. Where to go? It's Second Saturday, I. AM. NOT. GOING. TO. WOOD. Where else to go? Let me check my bookmarks. Oh! The Hoxton.
And off we went, a little early to say the least, 9:00PM. We're greeted by a doorman and a hostess. Overly friendly hostess asks if we want a table, I'm thinking bottle service. I ask "do you have a bottle service?" "No, unfortunately we do not. Let me find you guys a good table". I don't know what a "good table" means to this girl, but sitting us outside in 70% humidity and it's 85 degrees outside is NOT a good table.
Onto our experience. Our waitress was amazing. The beau ordered 'The Hoxton Lemonade', I ordered 'The Heat' thinking it'd be similar to my Stoli Peppered Vodka with pineapple juice. It wasn't. But it sure as hell was amazing! Next we ordered a 'Honey Ryder' and 'Quincy Cooler'. The Quincy Cooler was definitely disgusting, I returned the drink and I NEVER return anything, I always chum it down. But not this thing. So my waitress brought me out an 'Eleven-11', which was my favorite and a 20oz Guinness for $7.
The grand total of it all? $85.00+, why so much you might ask? 18% "service charge" automatically added to your bill.
Case and point? Hoxton, drop that 18% service charge and I'll be a regular, TRUST ME!
I came here about 2 months ago for a Miami City Social happy hour and it was amazing. Â The bartenders are very genuine and even held our seats for us while it was jam packed. Â I only had sparkling wine but, the drinks seemed intriguing. Â
Definitely go for the oysters, they are a decent size and very fresh. Â The duck poutine fries are also TO DIE FOR, they're smothered in a pulled duck gravy sauce. Â
The mussels were also incredible with thick chunks of bacon. Â
The atmosphere is unbeatable and is an extremely refreshing bar for brickell. Â It's very beachy inside yet, dark and exciting.
Saturday night yearning for a drink but not sure where to go???? Solution the Hoxton.
The vibe here is The Hamptons meets Miami. Dark, sexy and chic the Hoxton is multifunctional venue. Perfect spot for a flirty date, dim lights cushy sofas and champagne cocktails. Going out with friends? Â That works too, the main bar is a big square with white leather stools and a lot of open space. Â Too crowded? Â Worry not there's also a second bar in the back area with additional intimate seating. Â And did I mention there's an upstairs? Â Add in the DJ, music and lights and BAM what a fun evening!
Yes I am a fan. Â I am looking so forward to going back very soon.
We had heard so much about this place we decided to give it a try. Loved the decor, chic modern, beachy, comfy, classy all in one. Â Who would have thought to see this in the pretentious Brickell. Â They have couches everywhere and super comfy white leather bar stools with a back.
We sat at the bar. Â This particular night was slow with only a few people inside which was fine in my book. Â Our bartender was Armando and what an awesome guy. He handed us their happy hour specials that go til 8pm. Â They have four signature cocktails, wine and some food specials for their happy hour. Â I ordered the "Josh Cabernet Sauvignon which is their house wine and man I was happy. Â Full bodied, rich tannins, blackberry, touch of smoke with a smooth medium finish.
We ordered some fish dip, wings, fries, pork and beans, and meatball sliders. Â The fish dip was the only item I did not care for. Â The meatball sliders had cheese on them, the buns were super fresh and they were great. Â The wings are spicy, yeah baby they make your lips pucker which is why I ordered fries cause my mouth was on fire but holy heck they were awesome. Â The fries are hand cut, some of the best I have tasted. Hubby enjoyed the pork and beans.
Our service was excellent from Armando, he continuously refilled our water and my five glasses of wine and hubs four signature cocktails, which were all wonderful. Â They make some killer specialty drinks. He was super friendly talked to us quite a bit. Â He told us Friday nights are the younger crowd and on Saturday's the age is from 30 and up. Â They get super crowded on the weekend.
I was so relaxed. Â Enjoyed all the apps, my wine, the signature cocktails and the awesome company with such great service. Â This place is super cool and fun. Â My scene for sure. Â I am hoping and praying when I return I love it as much as my first. Â You know you never forget your first. Â Let's please keep it awesome.
Thanks for coming to Brickell. Â Finally another good place.
I had to admit, I found my number one 'Date Spot' and I will tell you why.
This palace is so unique. From the different secluded zones with uber comfortable couches perfect to, oh say 'cuddle up next to that special someone' to the unique bar setting , 2 bars actually. Â
Armando our Bar Keep was amazingly on top of everything, polite and an expert Mixologist. One of the best Long Island Ice Teas ever.
Start from the amazing front Entrance (from where you can Valet, or there is a nice
10$ Garage 50 feet away) it states 'Elegance' at a Roman-esk Decadent simplicity.
Uber White which colorful couches, I saw so many beautiful people lounging and relaxing.
I asked about the 'Best Nights' and found out Friday Night is the 20's crowd with a great DJ and House Music and Saturday's are the 30's and up crowd.
This by far is my #1 Date Spot. Â And after the 'Vibe' sunk into me I had to write a review.
Just be careful, Spicy Wings are ..well Spicy ! Â The Drinks run Strong and the Crowd is upscale and beautiful, yet no velvet ropes... How cool is that !
I'll only give 4 stars for now because I didn't try the food. The decor is nice and the vibe is great. I loved it!! The drinks that my group had were all on point. The draft beer I had was amazing, some of the best I've ever had anywhere. The service was great too. The live band was great, I loved the different arrangements they did to the songs they played. They totally made them their own. The dj was great as well he mixed it up nicely. I'd go back for sure!
Review Source:The new year took me, my husband, and my good friends Nicole A. and Nate M. to The Hoxton. Thanks to a last minute impulse to purchase vouchers on Gilt City, and some coazing from Jax G, we selected to party in the new year at The Hoxton. Neither of us had been there, so that evening we were really stepping blindly into a location we had no idea about. But at 18.00 bucks a head, we figured, why not?
What resulted was easily one of the best New Year's experiences of my lfie! From when we arrived we got the total VIP treatment : champagne, lite bites, etc. The boo and I shared their fish and chips from the bar menu and it was delicious! I also had some delicious cocktails from their bar menu, including the Honey Ryder, which was a smooth mix of bourbon, honey, fresh lemon, blackberries and rosemary. I had about two of these, and with the rest of the night fueled by the non-stop flow of Prosecco and the bangin tunes of Locos por Juana we welcome the new year in happy, fuzze haze of cheer and music unlike any other celebration I have ever been a part of. The crowd was perfect- everyone dressed in their New Year's garb without any pretention or typical Miami attitude of holier-than-thou. It was classy by laid back, my kind of groove.
Looking forward to many more nights at The Hoxton! Definitely hope it lasts.
Thought I had reviewed the Hoxton already, but I guess not...
Probably reviewed it when the location was still called Lucky Clover (must be my trouble keeping up with the names in my old age lol).
Anyway...
I visit often (probably about once a weekend) and it's usually very different. I can't say that the place maintains the same crowd each night because they don't. What I like about it is the look of the venue (love the couches and beachouse style). Also, the drinks are good and the food is yummy. If you drink scotch, they put these very neat circular ice cubes in your drink to preserve the integrity of the drink. I like that in a place... All in all, a good venue and it's extremely large, so you have plenty of space to walk around and people watch. Good change for the corner spot...
I LOVE the vibe of this bar. Â I definitely felt like I was back in New York even if just for an evening.
The drink prices are standard for the Brickell area, the waitress was excellent and very accommodating, and the live band/music was wonderful.
I am very impressed with how they managed to turn the old Irish bar into such a sleek and beautiful lounge.
Happy New Year!!!
Thank you to my lovely wife Michelle Z we got tickets to spend New Years Eve at this urban beach house in Brickell. We were joined by some dear friends and made some new ones that night.
I am not one to spend new years eve at a club or bar but if i had to do it all over again...I WOULD. This place was great and i will definitely be returning for a happy hour or dinner this year. We got there around 9pm and this place was chillin'. More than enough room at the bar to start the night and get some light bites. So we made our little spot and began the evening.
To start party we toasted some great drinks from our super awesome bar tender. We knew after 10pm the free proseco and beer started so we kept it light until then. However after 10 we got the party going!
THe crowd was very cool and fun and Locos por Juana were jamming the night away. Midnight came and went and all we have now are some great memories of a great night at a great place.
Until the next one.
As a new resident of Brickell, I have gone out in the area a few times. Â I haven't been a big fan of any spots in this area until a friend brought me to the Hoxton last weekend. Â It was so refreshing to walk into an atmosphere like this! Â I am a huge fan of live music and the singer that night (Brenden O'Hara) was really amazing (and not too bad to look at, either)!
The cocktails were so creative and delicious! Â I love tequila so I had to try the Pimlico (I actually had 2) while my friend tried the famous Hoxton Lemonade, which was recommended by the bartender. Â Both were really great choices. Â They also have a pretty extensive and eclectic beer selection.
I love seafood, so one glance at the menu and I knew I was in the right place. My favorites were the lobster roll and the mussels with white wine and homemade bacon. The service was friendly and engaging. Â
I absolutely love that this place is in my neighborhood! Â I will be back as often as possible!
I have been waiting for a place like this to open up in Brickell!!!
The Hoxton is more than just an urban beach house. It is a place to get a drink with a friend, a place to have a nice dinner with a significant other, and a fun lounge to hang out at with the girls on the weekend.
There is something for everyone at the Hoxton.
Their specialty cocktails are refreshing and delicious, and the ambience is seductive and laid back.
Music ranges from live reggae and live singer-songwriters, to sexy moody tunes that extend into the wee hours.
Come on a Friday and Saturday and you are sure to see a fun, laid back crowd. The Hoxton does not disappoint and is my new favorite go to place in Brickell!
This place was incredible.
Something new and refreshing to Brickell (Miami in general). My friends and I couldn't think of anywhere else like it.
We came a couple months ago and the place seemed to still need some construction completion (they were still putting up a mirror on one of the walls). Well we decided to revisit the lounge this past weekend, and boy did we all have a blast celebrating my friend's birthday.
The band playing were these two extremely talented musicians, cycling through like five instruments. At first, the singer appeared to be your typical guitar playing vocalist accompanied by a keyboardist. Out of nowhere, the guy playing the keyboard leaps over to a drum set and continues to pound away.
All along, we dove into the Hoxton's very tasty beer selection and tried all of the specialty cocktails recommended by our server.
Service was ON POINT. At first we sat at this really big table since we were bringing about 15 people. Then we noticed a "reserved" sign, so we quietly shifted over to one of the couches where people would be comfortable. When one of the managers caught word of our last-minute group, she actually offered the huge table back to us. My beer bottle kept magically emptying itself into my glass without me noticing. Our server was never intrusive and was always there waiting for me before I realized I even had anything to ask of him.
Without a doubt in any of our minds, we will be here again... and soon!
Dropped in to the Hoxton for a late night snack. Downstairs, a band was playing and there are several bars. Upstairs, some tables, couches and a bar. I had a cold draft Strongbow Apple Cider and an order of Fish & Chips. The fish was perfectly cooked, a crisp deep fried batter with a tender piece of fish.
It's less than a block from the Brickell Metro Station. You can park in the Mary Brickell Garage or nearby metered parking.
I wish I could recommend the Hoxton, The location is extremely convenient, as I live in the Axis, the same building as they're located. As a local, I was relieved to see them replace the Lucky Clover. I anxiously awaited the opening of the Hoxton and even posted articles promoting it on my social networking sites.
On opening day, we eagerly went by to check out the beautiful Martha's Vineyard style restaurant and bar. We loved the decor and ambiance. We sampled cocktails and salivated over their New England seafood menu.
After several visits for cocktails, we returned one evening for dinner. Â This would have been a great experience had it not been for the goons they call bouncers.
Drinks:
The Hoxton Lemonade $12, a vodka drink made with freshly squeezed lemons and ginger beer. Â It was good, but a little sweet for my taste. Â They have a full liquor bar, standard craft beers like Monk in the Trunk, and a nice selection of after dinner drinks. Â After dinner, we ordered the Fernet which was served in cute long stemmed dainty sipping glasses.
Food:
Soup was average, nothing to write home about.
Peel and eat shrimp was served with a large position of huge shrimp. Â It was refreshing to enjoy large portions of quality shrimp.
Clam Bake is served on a large skillet with a plethora of delicious lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp, grilled corn on the cob, and red potatoes. Â Everything was great! Â We considered ordering two clam bakes but it was large enough to share.
Maine Lobster Roll on brioche roll is filled with an abundance of lobster salad. Â It was tasty but had way too much mayo, and I like mayo. Â They did not skimp on the lobster but the heavy mayo only allowed me to take a few bites before passing it my date to eat.
Ambiance:
The modern New England beach house decor is a nice concept and a great change from the numerous Irish Pubs in Brickell. Â The band plays fun 90's music which is a refreshing change from the techo and Spanish music blaring at most of the local hangouts. Â The band was a little loud but they were good so we didn't mind.
So why give the Hoxton a poor review? Â On my last visit to the Hoxton, my date and I sampled several items off the dinner menu. Â We ate dinner at the bar and ordered enough food that our tab was around $200. Â We paid our tab and included a standard 20% tip for the good service. Â We left the Hoxton happy and planned to return soon.
It appears we returned too soon, when we returned an hour later to grab a drink. Â We went to their main bar and order two drinks. Â After a few minutes, a bouncer approached us and told us we had to leave. Â We were shocked and asked for an explanation. Â We were not given an explanation. Â The bouncer screamed at me and called other bouncers over to escort us out. Â
Keep in mind, we are both 30 something professionals, who live and work in the area. We were publicly humiliated for no reason.
I have lived in Brickell for over 3 years and never been treated this way. I eat out 4+ nights a week and always tip at least 20%. I am well known and friendly with the staff in most of the Brickell spots. For instance, our waiter at Doraku always reserves a table for us if there is a wait. Â
As no apology OR explanation was given, I have made it my personal mission to encourage people to avoid this restaurant. Â Â But let's be honest, Â I don't need to do anything but wait, Â the location is way too large for this restaurant to earn a profit. Â It won't last. Â I give the Hoxton 3 more months max...
The Hoxton rocked so hard.
So I'm from Massachusetts.. Boston is my hometown. Â So when I saw this place being branded as new england in miami... first my heart skipped a beat... and then the new england skepticism came forward... so the honey and I went to check it out. Â Inside... very cape cod with the white washed walls and the driftwood decor... and the mix of high end and shabby chic style... definately a fan. Â it's an amazing space... full of comfy couches. Â
this is going to sound weird... but all of the former teeny boppers out there will know exactly what i mean when i say this... it felt like we were at the bait shop from the OC. Â really great live music until 11... and then dj andres amadeus came on and he really was awesome. Â
now the food.... we had only two dishes that night... the duck poutine... which i think its one of the best things to eat in miami.... was ridiculous and sweet and savory and tender and fabulous all at the same time. Â last few bites had some hardened cheddar .... but you know what... cheese is fabulous in every form... it really was a stellar dish. Â i will order that every single time. Â
now... as a new englander .... i have to say... i was not impressed in the least with the lobster roll. Â we have a word for lobster rolls that rely too much on the mayo.... "globster rolls." Â there wasn't any element of crunch in this roll... not from chives.... not from celery... not from scallions... and there was next to no citrus in the mix. Â and it needs to be served with pickles! Â i wasn't happy that it seemed like the crunch was supposed to be supplied by the big piece of romaine in the bun.... that's not what it's all about. Â and please toast the bun like you mean it! Â if you want to be a piece of new england... get our signature dish right ... please!
the gin and tonics (with a splash of st. germaine) were... phenominal... one of the best drinks i've ever gotten at a bar... and i got three consecutive excellent drinks in a row (hey! Â no judging).. it was... amazing. Â and they have some great local beers which really impressed the honey.
now give us some extra items on the menu.... a solid burger... some clam and jalepeno flat bread... some apple cider based drinks (maybe a cider sangria or a hot toddy?), something cranberry based... maybe a dish of fried clams... then we're talking. Â
for real love this place. Â can't wait to come back this weekend... but let's get that menu a little more boston style!! Â :).
Attended a multi-class high school reunion-type party here and LOVED it, here is why:
* Awesome, polite, and professional service from everyone I interacted with
* Cool and atypical decor
* Nifty second level to overlook the dancefloor
* Conveniently located across from a MetroRail station (decide before you drive)
* The place was packed with awesome people (mostly Killian Cougars this night)
* My date was gorgeous, so were most of the other guests
* The oysters were a hit! Big, fresh, delicious
* The shrimp were a hit! (the same reasons)
* Live music and then a DJ
* The list goes on...
Great experience all around. Video review: http://bit.ly/VxxVKL
Cabeza, OUT!
Visited the Hoxton a week ago with a good friend, also Elite.
I never went to Lucky Clover, but the new design and décor was nice and different to say the least; a very attractive concept indeed. I found The Hoxton very welcoming to the already-Irish-packed Brickell Area.
That evening ~3 drinks from the cocktails menu were featured on happy hour. We both ordered the "Honey Ryder". An interesting mixture made with: bulliet bourbon, honey, fresh lemon, blackberries, and rosemary. I found it very sour... perhaps less lemon would make it tastier.
For food, we shared the New England Clam Bake. I love Clam Bake so my expectations were high based on their theme and marketing hype.
A skillet is served with lobster, clams, mussels, shrimp, grilled corn, and red potatoes. The seafood was seasoned just right. Lobster was 'meaty' and served whole with clarified butter. Shrimps are presented in 'peel-n-eat' style, which I absolutely hate. I like shrimps to be cleaned and ready-to-eat... they were meaty though, which I enjoyed. While I enjoy finger eating, shrimp is not one of those foods I want to labor with. Â The mollusks were perfect, and so were the corn on the cob and potatoes. Corn was incredible tasty and potatoes were cooked perfectly too. Â Moist-- with an outer crunch. Yum!
Dessert was ok. The cobbler is a must. On the other hand, forget the cheesecake.
Overall, The Hoxton could become a very popular hangout place in Brickell. While cocktails need a little work, good food and a nice ambience may bring more people in weeks to come.
Is it just me or does anyone else want to say Huxtables when you hear Hoxton? Just me? Either way, like the Huxtable family, this place is beautifully dressed with the New England flair of Beach meets Posh but with a cool modern twist. I Love the lounge sofas and outdoor wooden tables. We sat upstairs without an actual dinner table, but the lower coffee like tables suited us just fine (our group wasn't the tallest bunch in there).
Huge Shout out to our AMAZING server, Ximena. She made our visit PERFECT and was extremely helpful throughout the night.
Drinks: Comped round of drinks..THANK YOU!!!!!
Tequila with Watermelon- Twenty thumbs up if I could. Not too strong of Tequila, and refreshing.
Lemonade- fun drink with a nice twist
Cucumber Cooler?- I heard it was really nice but a bit strong.

Maine Lobster Rolls: It comes with a light salad on the side. The brioche roll is nice and soft and compliments the lobster salad inside. Note: this dish does NOT lack lobster, the thing practically overflows with chunks of Lobster meat. Tasty without being too heavy!
Farm Egg Quiche: Salad with this as well served as a Slice of Quiche. Loved this! Light, airy, not heavy with the cheese with slightly crisped crust. Recommended for the light eaters!
Duck-something over their Fries: Right out the kitchen, steam rising, cheese melted- GREAT. 10 plus minutes after, and its colder, and not as inspiring. So you basically have 10 minutes to enjoy and I am sure you'll be finished WAY before then.
Dessert:
Cobbler: LOVE THIS! Its not too sweet, and if you like tart, the berries are fresh! The crust is not overly sweet and baked beautifully. I wish it had some Ice cream or light cream to go with it, but overall I would order this..or try those Cookies Joann C raved about.
Overall- Go for it! Try it out! I'll be there again this week!
So I finally got the opportunity to stop by this place after reading the extensive posts about it and its "all-star" lineup of owners and chefs and lets just say it left a little to be desired. Unlike others it takes a bit more than appearance to win me over, I'm looking for service and of course great food!
Lets start with the menu, I appreciate the fact that you want to serve seafood (not a new concept by any stretch as 2 doors down you can visit oceanaire) but the menu is lackluster and limited at best. There aren't many options if any for vegetarians or vegans, i myself am not but a few if my friends and family members are and this is supposed to be reminiscent of my living room where I can enjoy the company of my friends and family but with such a limited menu it just doesn't live up to the hype. I tried the duck poutine it was okay but poutine is normally made with fresh cheese curd and that's definitely not what was on it, it'd be better to call them cheese fries but its not poutine without the fresh cheese curds.
The drinks aren't anything to write home about either, it's basically a smorgasbord of popular cocktails from various trendy restaurants, I'm sure I can point out a few off Sugarcane's menu ;) Let's just say given the background of the manager I would have expected more.
Service! Where to begin, let's just say the servers need a bit more knowledgable about the dishes on the menu, we asked our server a few questions regarding a couple of the dishes and she had a hard time coming up with an answer. She was also unable to decisively recommend a dish, her reactions just weren't sincere.
To wrap it up The Hoxton Beach House, nice decor good view of a 7 eleven and the metro rail... Considering it's supposed to be a beach house their aren't enough varieties on the menu every dish seemed to contain the same ingredients (very 1 dimensional) if you're looking for seafood there are better alternatives, sorry guys but I can't recommend this place for what it's supposed to be.
