My husband took me here for my birthday.  We just moved from Brooklyn and since we also have a newborn, we wanted to go somewhere nice but close by, just in case.  We were recommended to go here.  With a 9PM reservation we were pretty surprised that the place was COMPLETELY DEAD.  It was like eating in an Indian restaurant.  Dead.  We were seated in a room where they had clearly set a table for us, because tied to the back of my chair were about a dozen freakin' helium balloons.  Seriously - this was not my fifth birthday.  That was bizarreness 1.  Bizarreness 2: the waitress delivered almost a 10 minute monologue on the history of the restaurant, the other restaurants the owners own, and her own history working for them.  This was before we got to the specials.  NEVER LET ON THAT IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME THERE.  We were waited on by approximately 5 people that night, so our table was visited approximately 600 times during the course of the meal.  I hardly got to talk to my husband.  Despite the preponderance of servers, they still managed to mess up a wine order, a drink order, and an appetizer order.  And here is Bizarreness 3.  When I told the chatty waitress about the appetizer switch, she LITERALLY.  I AM NOT KIDDING.  TOOK ONE OF THE FORKS THAT WAS IN MY PLACE SETTING AND TOOK A BITE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  NO!!!!  YOU DO NOT DO THAT!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!  So the food was not so bad.  It was not amazing, but I have admittedly pretty high standards.  It was really JUST OK though, nothing to write home about.   The truffled mac and cheese that everyone goes on and on about was nothing special and not worth it.  Gritty texture, too much roux, boring.  Steak was salty.  Food was fresh and well presented but not imaginative.  Just as we were wrapping up our weird and not that enjoyable meal, Bizarreness 4. occured, in which the parking attendants, dressed in outfits not unlike Alex from Clockwork Orange, came in and noisily asked everyone in the place (approximately 20 servers, 2 people at the bar, and us) whether a set of keys they had found were ours.  They were not.  Sadly there are few other places to eat in the area for a special occasion so I will probably be back, let's hope they can keep the lid on the crazy next time.

Wow.  I'm not kidding, WOW!  I've heard about Huntley Taverne for years...at least two co-workers and numerous Yelp friends give it 5-stars.  So the other night, when my son had a sleepover and my daughter had a birthday party to attend, my wife and I decided it was 'Hot Date Night' and we would finally try Huntley.

Traffic sucked on the way down, but the complimentary (but mandatory) valet was a blessing on this snowy night. We had a reservation so were seated immediately. Our drink waiter, Justin, was on us quickly for drinks...which we wanted badly. My wife had a New York Sour and I had a Bombay Sapphire martini. A nice start...along with a very nice bread and butter combo.  Our food waiter Dana, yes you get two waiters here, made some recommendations and we jumped on two of them to start the meal.  For appetizers (hey, it's hot date night- we splurged) we had the calamari salad and the pork belly with potatoes and some nice watercress. Neither of us had had pork belly before (what the hell was wrong with me?!?) and guess what???  It was totally delicious and not what I expected with an amazing five-spice sauce that really enhanced the flavors... If I knew this was what to expect from pork belly I'd have ordered it years ago.  The calamari salad-calamari tasted like it was fresh off the boat and the Thai dressing just brought it all together nicely.

For dinner, my wife ordered the NY Strip with smashed potatoes and we shared Brussels sprouts.  I ordered the hangar steak which was espresso rubbed and served with bacon-cheddar grits and a  cranberry-chipotle chutney.  When we both ordered our wine, Dana nodded his head in agreement...I think we chose wisely.  Both meals were incredible...my wife loved her steak-she said it was better than the last filet she had.  My meal was, well it was amazing. Seasoned and cooked perfectly, but the addition of the bacon grits and cranberry chutney gave each mouthful both a sweet and salty deliciousness.  Never had something like that before-I practically licked my plate. So.damn.good!

For dessert we went off the reservation a bit and went for a crazy sounding Sweet and Salty Sundae (we also had coffee and I ordered a Sambuca).  This sundae was NUTS!  Vanilla bean gelato, candied peanuts, house made potato chips, popcorn, chocolate & caramel sauces...ARE YOU FRIGGIN' KIDDING ME ?!?!?  One of the greatest desserts I've ever had the pleasure to eat

So good, so amazingly good.  The whole meal was great, only to be topped off by a dessert like this really made the whole night nothing but enjoyable and dare I say even romantic.  I can't recommend this place enough-we'll be back!!

    EDIT-

Ok, this was great...when we made our reservation we told the Hostess this would be our first time at Huntley...we got a call the next day, from the Manager, to check on our meals and asking for any feedback from our dinner.  I have NEVER had this happen.  A major shout out for quality customer service!

If Huntley wasn't 2 blocks away from my home, I'd probably give it 4 stars, but still I'm not one to dish out 4 stars lightly.  My wife and I moved to Summit from Manhattan a few months back.  The day we closed on our new home, we went to Huntley for dinner.  Not only was our food great and the wait staff terrific, but they went the extra mile.  Sam, our waitress, sent us a thank you note for dining with Harvest restaurant group on our special occasion.  With that letter, they won our business for life.

Take away locale and sentimental back stories and we love the restaurant and bar regardless.  We are huge California wine fans and their wine list is fantastic if that's your thing.  We mainly love sitting in the bar area by the fireplace.

Only wish I had was that there would be just a couple more bar menu items.  Their burgers are great, but aside from the burgers they really only offer a hummus plate and some flatbread pizzas for a light meal.

If you go, I recommend the soups as they rotate often.  The pulled pork mac and cheese is ridiculous...you can get it as an app instead of a side if you'd like.

Service is awesome, and the food is good. The chef uses local ingredients so the menu changes often, if not daily.  A good choice if you're in the area.  However, be warned that the restaurant is crowded, and can be a bit loud.  It's not the best choice if you are seeking a quite dinner, first date, or dinner conversation.  Otherwise, an excellent choice.

i ate here for the first time tonight! And what an overstuffed indulgence it was :) Huntley's prides themselves on a menu composed of locally grown products.. it changes everyday!

We started with some cocktails, i had the new york sour (seagrams vo with lemonade and lime juice and red wine) and we tried the winter sangria. Very spicy for a winter drink. I grew tired of the over the top winter spice simple syrup after one glass.

On the menu, I had a cup of farm fresh broccoli soup to start  which was oddly a bit oily on top and fairly bland. For entree I had a nice cut of strip steak with roasted sweet potatoes and sauteed mustard greens. Delish! I was surprised to enjoy the mustard greens as much as I did.

my friends had filet mignon with spaghetti squash (which is gross, but they enjoyed it) and the other had buttermilk fried chicken breast with local broccoli & carrot mashed potatoes. I was eyeing it up at first on the menu. We also tried a side of the pulled pork mac and cheese, which was creamy and and flavorful.. it even had a nice crisp on the end.

The service was cheery and friendly and the chef sent over a few desserts, one being this delicious sticky toffee cake thing. truly indulgent!

I cant wait to go back again :)

I am tickled pink that my friend had suggested Huntley Taverne for dinner.

It's a cozy restaurant that gives the impression of "log cabin lodge meets sports pub with a twist of some classy touches".  The dress attire suggests dressy but not strictly enforced.

It was impressive how knowledgeable the staff was about the menu and very attentive to our needs.  The staff were very attentive to the timing and pace of our meal segments (which makes the biggest difference in our experience). The service was excellent!

We ordered the Appetizer Trio (mini crab cakes, Asian vegetable spring rolls, tuna tartare), Crescent Farm Duck Breast (pan seared, crispy crackling, roasted local sweet potatoes, radish, carrots & parsnips), Tile Fish (pan seared, toasted spicy pecans, warm orzo salad of Oak Grove acorn squash, Tuscan kale, sage butter), side order of Local Tuscan Kale, Bok Choy, & Kholrabi (sautéed onions, sambal, garlic EVOO) and some house coffee.

Everything was savory and delicious except for our side.  It was too peppery.  The staff was very quick to re-make it to our liking without hesitation.

FYI:  The restaurant will catalog your allergy issues (for the next time you come to visit) so, they could suggest specific items on the menu.  They are more than willing to accommodate any substitutions to please your palette.

Also, they have complimentary valet parking (until 10pm on Monday).  It was kinda odd to see the valet attendants asking the guests (table-by-table) about their vehicles and passing out keys in the dinning area.  They mentioned that they were leaving and wanted to assure all keys were returned to the owners.  I am not sure why valet parking was necessary for such a small parking lot.

Reservations is a MUST.  So, be sure to try out this delightful location.

While service at the high top table started a little slow, the food was delicious. Local sourced ingredients and a menu with lots of choices (lunchtime) left me choosing between sliders, pizza, and burgers. The thin crust pizza was delicious from the wood fired oven as was the mixed salad. Add a glass of wine or local brew and your stomach and senses will be happy. Sadly finished a little slow while waiting for the check.

Just came here for my boyfriend's birthday. The food  and service were awesome- period! The waiter was knowledgeable about the food, how it was prepared and where it was from. One of the waiter's actually sang HBB to him and he was pretty friggin good! The decor was different and cool which I loved.

Only "negative" thing... this place is pricey and its not a byob. HOWEVER, I would definitely recommend for a special occassion! =)

OOo forgot- theres valet parking which is just another plus

I recently went to Huntley for the first time to celebrate a relative's birthday.  We were seated in a private area for our party, which was a plus since there were a couple of kids with us and we could all hear eachother.  For the table. we ordered a few appetizers, including the calamari salad which was pretty good, even though I'm not big on seafood.  Nothing on the menu really caught my eye or appetite.  Most of the table ended up ordering and splitting the pizzas (there are four different kinds on the menu and are enough for 2-3 people IMO).  I split the fresh mozzarella pizza, which was nothing special.  My favorite part of the meal was the gouda mac and cheese- absolutely delicious!  The wine list was huge and there were also a variety of beers from local breweries.

There is only one bathroom downstairs and it's located almost inside the kitchen, which was awkward for me when I was standing there waiting  (felt in the way of waiters with trays).  I finally gave up waiting and went to the upstairs bathroom (why aren't there more downstairs?).  I may go back here for lunch and hope to try other restaurants in the area under this ownership (I like the farm to table concept!)

Huntley Taverne is another great restaurant from the Harvest Group, featuring fresh, local ingredients and inventive dishes.  The fish options are all quite good and the drinks menu doesn't disappoint.  A great option for dinner in Summit.

Consistently great food and highly efficient service every time I go. I've only been to one other restaurant in the Harvest Group (Root's) so I can't speak for the others but this place is worth every penny.  That said, be prepared to spend a lot of pennies.

One of my favorite things about this place is the continuous freshness of ingredients and change of the menu. Last I knew, they were printing new menus daily, basing the specials on whatever was in season locally.

I have two minor criticisms. First, although the service is always excellent, it can be a little overwhelming as there are waiters designated just for the appetizers and main courses and others designated just for wine and dessert.  This is sometimes confusing when you need something.  Nevertheless, everyone seems to be knowledgable of the menu. Second, the valet parking is a little unnecessary being that the parking lot is right next to the restaurant. I've noticed that most of the time I could get to my car faster than the valet could.

After eating here several times, I'm dropping the stars significantly. The Huntley is basically too expensive to be as inconsistent as the place clearly is. They have no quality control over what comes out to diners. Its a shame because we had one decent meal there and expected it to be the same everytime.

This is a wonderful place!  The cost is on the higher side for a quick meal or casual dinner however the food & ambience is certainly worth it.  It has a rustic, home-like feel with a lot of wood and natural touches.

The place can accommodate small tables or larger groups.  They offer a small private room that seats approx. 12-16 people if my memory serves me right.  We reserved it once for Mother's Day and were pleased with the service.  Additionally, they have a private upstairs dining area & bar that is great for small parties.  I had my bridal shower luncheon upstairs and it was absolutely perfect.  The food was complimented & enjoyed by all of my guests.  Service is professional and friendly, as well.

They have delicious seasonal dishes that are fresh, clean and comforting.  Add this place to your must-try list!

Huntley is a great place. Went here with a big group with work. Got the filet Pittsburgh style, which was great but they did go a little overboard on searing the outside. We ordered a ton of the sides and all of them were great. The mashed potatoes and mac n cheese both had truffles, and were very good. If you want to spend some coin on a good steak dinner with some unique sides go to this place.

Hadn't eaten here in several years and decided to treat my kids to a nice dinner here based on great recent reviews and word-of-mouth.  Huntley Taverne is still an excellent restaurant!

The place was hopping on a pleasant Saturday evening in early June.  The bar seemed to be especially busy after 8PM.  We were seated in the outdoor patio and a team of two took our drink and food orders. After we were ordered, a very large and rather boisterous party was seated behind us.  Evening ruined?  No way.  The manager walked by and I mentioned how the seats were not to our liking (we couldn't hear each other over these loudmouths).  He graciously offered to move us to a table inside after we finished our starters.  Very nice.

We shared two starters - the pork trio and the tuna tartare.  Both were excellent.  The pork trio consisted of a slice of terrine on toast, two tender ribs and a gorgeous and perfectly cooked piece of pork belly.  Oink!  Yum!  The tuna tartare was nicely seasoned and textured, served on thin sesame crisps.

We were moved to a quieter table inside in the wine room and proceed to have our main courses.  My son had the Niman Ranch pork chop, which was tender and extremely flavorful.  My daughter had the strozzapreti pasta with spinach, asparagus, Grana Padano cheese and truffle oil.  It was very nice.  I had a superb piece of duck, which was both crispy and perfectly cooked.

We were full so opted out of dessert.  Dinner was rather pricey, but we enjoyed it tremendously.  Service was great, and I really appreciated being moved to a quieter table.  I look forward to going back soon.

I happen to really enjoy many the restaurants this company represents.  I've been to all of them more than a few times and have never experienced anything negative - until last night.

We sat at the bar around 7:30.

There were 2 bartenders on.  One who was extremely attentive and one african american woman who was so interested in her beverage that she couldn't be bothered with anyone other than herself.

Unfortunately after a few minutes, she was left to tend bar by herself.

We sat with empty glasses, no menu, no service and we watched as she manipulated her tongue around the glass she was drinking from, trying to get the cubes of ice in her mouth - so lost in the process that I think she forgot where she was.  This happened not once, but every few minutes.

We were finally able to get food, but no silverware - not even napkins.

Ok, after writing such a negative report about the poor jordache jean man, I had to balance out with a 5 star experience...

    Where do I start...

This romantic rustic tavern in summit is a farm to table concept. The menu changes everyday & everything is super fresh. I've been here a few times, and it is always stellar quality, great service and in my opinion UNDER priced.

I have had the tuna tartare (excellent), the NY strip au poivre (fantastic), the salmon (fresh & wild-superb), and a bunch of the fresh tasty salads. The wonderful gentleman with whom I enjoy myself here always has the creme brulee and I think thats the real reason we always specifically come here. He loves it. We always sit in Sam's section, because she is the best- so patient and professional, we love her. My friend is a power player, so he can be a little demanding and impatient, but she handles him perfectly.

    5 star meal with a 5 star guy ;)

I've recently moved to NJ and am experiencing all things NJ which include charming restaurants where housewives come to share cocktails and talk about how awful there husbands how and how awesome there kids are.

In true NJ fashion I visited Huntley Tavern after an afternoon at the short hills mall.

I ordered a personal pizza and threw back a few old fashioned.

More than the food I enjoyed the atmosphere and off course, the cocktails.

My husband and I went here for our one year anniversary after being recommended by a friend and I was not disappointed at all.
I made a reservation a few days in advance, and there were only two slots available for that Saturday night so beware, this place gets busy. They asked me if were celebrating a special occasion and I told them that it was our anniversary. At the end of our meal they graciously brought out a decorated dessert plate that said Happy Anniversary with a candle lit in the middle. It really was beautiful and made the night extra special.
Now on to the food and general service..... We were a bit late for our reservation so had to wait a few moments to be seated. No problem though. The place is beautiful and there was plenty of seating at the bar which had an extensive wine and drink menu. Our 2 servers were very pleasant and carefully explained the menu since we were first time diners. They did take a bit of time taking our orders which is why I gave them 4 stars, but I really I would have given them a five had it not been for that. My hubby and I were a bit pressed for time, but had we not been it would have been fine since I hate when servers bring out my main course and appetizers together.
The food, I must say was outstanding. We had the appetizer trio which is the crab cake, tuna tartare, and spring roll. All three were excellent, especially the tuna. We also had the calamari salad which was great. I had the Hangar steak which was cooked to perfection and served with grits. My husband had the beef short rib which looked amazing and really tender. We also split a side of carrots, which were glazed and now I am trying to replicate at home.
If you are looking for a great, intimate, dining restaurant with great ambience and great food you must try this place!

How about them Cowboy Steak!  I think it should be named the NY Giants Steak

Place is literally a high class tavern that serves up great dishes (bit more fancier than your normal taverns).  Specials differs depending on the season but their regular menu shouldn't disappoint.

This place is a no brainer. It is expensive but you get what you pay for. So if you are a foody give this place a try. Have been here a few times and I am never disappointed last night I had the Goffle Road Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Turnips and my friend had the Crispy Miso glazed monkfish both were equally perfect.

Came on a Sunday night expecting "tavern" food but received a pretty fancy (ie expensive) menu. Only after we had ordered and a large party sat next to us did we realize there was actually a Tavern Menu with more affordable options (burgers, buttermilk fried chicken).

Service was excellent: great with drinks, bread, asking us how everything was.  The bread basket selection was a nice mix of cheese, foccacia, corn bread.

Food was average.  I ordered the seared scallops which tasted sweet but were a tad overdone and the portion was somewhat small for the price ($27).  I received 4 scallops on top of a cous cous.  I'd say about half the scallops were true diver size and the other 2 were quite small.   My husband ordered the Hanger steak ($26) which he enjoyed very much - good portion and cooked as ordered.  As a side we got the Mac and Cheese which apparently they are known for, but I've definitely had better at other places.  It was definitely on the dry side and not as rich as I would have liked. I would not order that again.

Dessert was the best part of my meal.  We ordered the Lavender Creme Brulee which was fantastic and came with a small lemon shortbread.

I would come back only for the dessert and ask for the Tavern Menu instead!

One of my co-workers recently told me that he was going to Huntley Taverne for a dinner with his in-laws. After the dinner, he was amazed by how good the food and atmosphere at the Taverne was. So...Father's Day rolls around and I made a reservation for Saturday at 6:45 p.m.

Courtesy valet parking. Instantly know that this place is "fancy".

The hostess brings us to our table outside looking onto the street, but unfortunately, my dad doesn't want to sit outside so we had to forfeit that table for another table inside. The first of two waiters comes over quickly asking about drinks. He was very informative about the drink menu and offered up some extra tid-bits. Within a few more minutes, our food server came over to explain the menu a little bit more as well. I really liked the two waiter combo that Huntley Taverne offers. It lets both waiters really hone in on what they have to know about and both had answers to EVERY question we could throw at them.

For the food, we ordered a couple Caesar Salads, a Fried Calamari Salad, two Tuna entrees, a Hanger Steak entree, and the Espresso Rubbed Cowboy Steak. Everything was delicious. My parents said the Caesar Salads were on point and were exactly what they were suppose to be. They even come with freshly made croutons that are soft on the inside (really freaked my Dad out). I enjoy my Fried Calamari salad, but I thought that frying the calamari gave it too much of a salty taste and actually cheapened the salad. I would have probably preferred it to be grilled calamari, but the entire salad was still delicious and the taste of the dressing was licking the bowl good.

As for the entrees, again, everything was delicious. The Tuna was cook very rare, but both, my girlfriend and mom felt like it was a TAD bit overdone. The rarer the better. My Hanger Steak was delicious and I really enjoyed the Orzo Salad that it was laying upon. My Dad really liked his Espresso Cowboy Steak so much so that he asked the waiter about the cooking process and which cut of the meat it was.

The real highlight of the meal, besides food, was my Kentucky Bourbon Iced Tea, which I downed two of. DELICIOUS. I plan on coming back just for those with maybe a personal pizza by the bar. I can't tell you enough about how great that drink was.

4 stars for Huntley only because our final bill came out to about $246, which for the amount of food and experience, I thought it really could have been closer to the $200 bill rather than the $250-300. I still would enjoy coming back, maybe even just to hang around the bar.

Went here for our 1 year anniversary dinner and it was incredible! All of the food was perfect and the service wasn't nearly as bad as some of the other reviews mentioned.

For appetizers my husband and I shared Tuna Tartar-- outstanding. It was the first time I've ever tried it and I'm a huge fan. We also shared the angry shrimp spring rolls- also delicious.

As an entree I enjoyed the black sea bass while my husband had the filet mignon- we were both pleased. We shared the pulled pork mac and cheese as a side- definitely the star of the meal! (my husband asked if we could get an order to go!)

We'll definitely be back, but probably not until our next anniversary as the prices here don't warrant a regular Saturday night date.

Came here on a weekday night - no reservations necessary, as there were plenty of open tables. There is also complimentary valet parking.

The service was the low point of our meal - we were unattended by our server most of the night, though we saw him carrying on and having long conversations with his other tables. He never refilled my bf's iced tea even after we asked several times. He was very curt in speaking to us and even left me mid-sentence when I was speaking to him about one of the dishes that were unsatisfactory.

The bread basket had some sort of peppery biscuit that was good and out of the ordinary...may have been the best part of the meal. Since it was free. And tasty. And was brought over promptly by a junior server - NOT by our crappy server.

We ordered the appetizer trio, which consists of mini crab cakes, chicken satay, and tuna tartare. The crab cakes are fried, which the bf does not like - I thought they were good, but nothing extraordinary either. The chicken satay was tender, but was very curry flavored, which unfortunately my bf and I are both not fans of. I liked the tuna tartare - it is served on wasa-like crackers with a wasabi aioli type sauce.

We also ordered the gnocci appetizer with pancetta and a fried egg (has spring peas but I opted out), which was absolutely drowning in a cream sauce. Would've been better with less cream for sure.

The bf ordered the scallop main entree, which came with only six scallops, and the flavor did not warrant its price tag...tasted just as good as Bonefish Grill but with fewer scallops and higher pricetag. Disappointing.

We tried the truffle mac and cheese, and I REALLY wanted to like it - but it just didn't taste like anything...was very bland. Took three bites before I told the server it was terrible (he took it off our bill at least). Also got the side of Rosemary frites - very thin and crispy, and comes with a lot!! (I couldn't finish!)

Bottom line: do not be seduced by the menu offerings and come here. Food is overpriced, and while the descriptions sound great, the tastes do not live up to expectations. Service was terrible.

There's something to be said for escaping the big city and heading for the snow-covered hills to a place like this one with vaulted ceilings and a crackling fire inside. After an enjoyable day exploring the beautiful, suburban side of new jersey, we wanted to dine somewhere charming, cozy and relaxing. This was the place!

The bread basket: the one that really got my attention was the pumpkin bread - small slices topped with toasted coconut! Oh wow. I really wish I had some waiting on me for breakfast tomorrow!

For dinner, I had the Caesar salad. We all know, Caesar salads are hit or miss. This one was a hit. The romaine was fresh, light and crispy and it was lightly tossed in Caesar dressing with shaved Parmesan and polenta croutons. Very light and one of the best Caesars I've had in awhile. For wine, I recommend the cote de rhone - peppery. mmm

My friend had the cheddar, ham and apple pizza: a thin crust pizza (very generous portion) with Vermont cheddar, black forest ham, thinly sliced granny smith apples, caramelized onions- topped with arugula salad and a balsamic vinaigrette. delicious!

Next time I plan a "get away" for the hills, I'm coming back to the Huntley Taverne! service was great as well.

I could use this "escape" every now and then.

We were there tonight, a very busy Saturday night.  We were not able to get seated for several minutes even though we had reservations, but we enjoyed a drink at the bar.  It was packed!  I was little concerned about the service after reading all these reviews.  I had no reason to be concerned.  We had impeccable service.  The waiters who helped us were unobtrusive but at the ready whenever we needed them.  They gave menu suggestions when asked but were not pushy.

The food was, well, just incredible.  We shared the pork belly and it was divine.  We both had the filet but slightly different wellness.  They both came out perfectly, which we find to be an impossible task in other restaurants when we order different wellness.  By far my favorite was the pulled pork mac & cheese.  Oh. my. goodness. that is delicious.  Again, we shared it which was good because it is so rich.  I would go back just for that!   For dessert we shared the warm apple pie a la mode upon the recommendation of our waitress.  It was not cloyingly sweet but was a nice finish to the meal.

Overall, the food was tasty and fresh and we did not have to wait long for any course.  The word "Tavern" is deceiving because it conjures an image that is less than what is Huntley Tavern.  The atmosphere was really warm and inviting and the food is much more than tavern fare.

The restaurant itself it very nice, the food is not excellent, but very good and the service is decent to poor.

I'm never in a rush to get my food, but the appetizers and dinner took very long to arrive. Our waiter was polite, but once the food arrived, he never came back to check on us or ask if we would like another drink.

I'll go back, but probably opt to sit at the beautiful bar for a glass of wine or a beer.

This place reminds me of a ski lodge offering comfort food but at a gourmet level.  We went here during the autumn season and the menu was seasonal.  I had the duck with pomegranate sauce and mashed potatoes ...it was the perfect autumn meal with a good glass of red wine.  My friend had the chicken and substituted the sides with root vegetables of which she thought it was a divine meal.

They open late on mid-week nights of which many restaurants in the area close at 9 p.m.  This is a plus as this place is great to hang out with friends and get a drink in a cavernous but somehow sophisticated warm setting.

There's an ample parking lot which is helpful so you're not finding parking in the streets.

This restaurant is one of my favorites.  I come here for lunch about once a week, and dinner on a less-often basis, but the food is always delicious.

I had a soup here once that knocked my socks off, and when I asked if it was possible to get a copy of the recipe, the chef came out and explained the recipe and amounts of each ingredient step-by-step so I could recreate it as accurately as possible.  She even sent me home with a couple hard-to-find ingredients to make it extra special.

I highly recommend this place to anyone who asks for a good place in the Summit-area.  Also, they have a beautiful bar, a nice place to meet up with some friends for a drink or two!

    A fantastic experience every time.

The wine list is extensive. The experienced bartenders make perfect mixed drinks. The staff has the right balance of professionalism and warmth to give you a smooth and extremely pleasant dining experience.

Because I am still a student, I tend to stick with the pizzas. But don't let the affordability fool you! Huntley makes some of the best pizza I have ever had. My absolute favorite is the wood fired goat cheese pizza. Its served with grilled eggplant, roasted peppers, basil, and grilled red onions (it comes with bacon too - but I always order without).

And lastly, the ambience. Huntley looks like a large contemporary log cabin with high ceilings that display a criss cross of wooden beams. A large stone fireplace roars in the winter. A wrap around enclosed porch allows for comfortable outside dining no matter what the season.

Fantastic place for dinner, drinks with friends, or a romantic date.

Had a great lunch at Huntley Taverne today.  Basically, this place is really comfortable, has attractive food options and the staff are really nice.  That works for me.

Kind of a old wood and fireplace type feel in here, but not too much of a man-cave, a little more sophisticated than that.

A couple of strange things.  Ridiculous number of burgers on the menu.  In line with an earlier review, they didn't cook the meat as well as we requested it.

Also, a lot of checking in by the wait-staff.  A little too aggressive on the check-ins.  Nice place though.

I was here recently for the first time with a group to celebrate a birthday.  It was a Friday night and the place was quite busy.   The atmosphere is quite nice and the food was delicious.  I especially recommend the wild mushroom pizza.

I was surprised however just how bad the service was -- especially reading the other reviews here raving about the service.  First, although we had a reservation, our table wasn't ready and we had to wait about 10 minutes.  Certainly not terrible, given how crowded it was.

The first server came by to introduce herself and say that she was only going to be dealing with our drink orders.  She then left, without taking any orders, and never returned!  Another server came by to introduce herself as the waitress who would handle our meal order.  Then she left to get a drink for the one person at the table who wasn't having wine.  Finally, a new server came by the table to say that he was taking the wine order -- but that he wasn't going to be waiting on us other than that.  He made a great selection for a red and then seemed a little upset that we had chosen a white wine without his input.   All in all, it was quite confusing as to who our servers were.

The food came out at a good pace, but when it was time for us to ask the check, none of our three servers were anywhere to be found.  And by this time, the restaurant was pretty empty.

In spite of very uneven service, I will definitely go back as I was quite impressed with atmosphere and food quality.  Based on the other reviews I've read, I'm hoping the bad service was just an anomaly.

I've been bugging Mama Brian V. to go back to Huntley Taverne for a good two years, and I finally broke her down a when I was home couple of weekends ago.  It's not that she didn't like the food or anything, but there were other solid options a little closer to home and their by the glass wine list was getting a little pricey (seemed tough to find anything under $12-$13 most nights).

Well, now just about every good restaurant in the area is all in the double digits for wine, so we finally got back.  The menu hadn't changed much:  part of me liked this because I've always liked their menu, but the more adventurous I'll try anything that sounds good part of me was a little disappointed.  Then, we got to eating.

I could recommend several of their appetizers (the crispy calamari salad is particularly good), but if you are with someone who's willing to share, I definitely recommend one of the pizzas.  All are good, but the wild mushroom and the vermont cheddar (with red onion, tasso ham and granny smith apple) pizzas are amazing.  The main courses were great also.  Mom had a rack of lamb, it looked like a brontosaurus bone out of the Flintstones was brought to our table.  I bailed on the diet a little and had a pasta special, cavatelli with grilled shrimp, black forest ham and wild mushrooms in a truffle cream sauce.  I brought about 1/3 of the huge serving home thinking it could be good for a late night snack or lunch the next day before I came back to NYC but my sister got to it before I had the chance.  I don't blame her.

Desserts here are solid also if your stomach will still accept food.  We split a warm sticky toffee cake that I thought was great but Mom did not really agree.  Overall, a fantastic meal and I'll definitely be back again soon.

It's been almost 10 months since I've dined here - and since then I have dined in many of the area restaurants whilst in the area for work. I have to say, this was the first of the lot and the best!

Surprisingly upscale for the area - they gave our team a private room for dinner, and everything was very good. I still remember those pomegranate martinis and those brussel sprouts! (Yes your mom was right, eat your brussel sprouts. And yes, they are as good as everybody says)

I remember the service being fantastic as well. Having been (against my own volition) appointed OrganizerPerson for many of our team events, I will definitely suggest the Huntley Taverne the next chance I get!

Huntley is VERY popular and a nice change of pace from other places in the neighborhood, and it is very pretty but it just wasn't for me.  I found it to be stuffy, but not interesting enough to make the stuffiness worthwhile.  And not outstanding.  The service was mediocre, the prices are high and there just aren't a lot of things on the menu that are my thing.

But although it wasn't right for me, I dont want to scare you off. Its worth a shot, and you might love it.  Nothing was horrendous.  It just wasn't me.

One of my co-workers loves the Huntley Taverne and always plans team dinners here.  I have been there twice and both times I have been impressed.

The bar is nice and comfortable and sometimes it is disappointing when the hostess tells me that the table is ready.  However, it only gets better.

The menu has things like steak, salmon and chicken.   I have had the filet both times I have been to Huntley Taverne.  There is a large list of appetizers.  Do yourself a favor and order a couple for the table.  However, make sure you save room for dessert.

The Huntley Taverne is one of the few places I would drive north of the Driscoll Bridge to eat at.

I've eaten there several times in the past 6 months and always find the service and food super. Huge wine list too. The crafts-style interior, fireplace,  and soft lighting creates a comfortable dining setting.  During the warmer months, try to get a table out on the porch which is the quietest and most enjoyable seating.  The bar area is nice for drinks or dining,  but a little noisy when crowded.
The main courses have always been great, and I usually get a side of calamari salad (spicy) and/or the Brussels sprouts.
The only  downside is valet parking, which I am not a fan of.

This is my favorite local eating spot.  The interior is arts and crafts style with lots of brick and dark wood, a real fire place, and an open kitchen.  There is an outdoor eating area that is open during nice weather and can be air conditioned or heated as needed.

The bartender Kevin is a friendly sort with a great intuition as to when you need service and when you want to be left alone.  On my last visit, my Hendrick's martini was great as was my Patron margarita.  I asked for Patron, Cointreau, and lime juice, no Rose's, no sour mix, no orange juice, no crap, and it was prepared just as ordered.  I still wouldn't order anything more complicated like a Pisco Sour, but you will get a nice standard cocktail here.  The wine list is also more than your standard 20 bins of Mondavi and Yellow Tail.

I had the sea scallops entree which was prepared in a tangy soy and lemon sauce with an Asian vegetable mix.  But the best was the side order of Brussels sprouts.  I know that no one eats Brussels sprouts, but they were tastier than my main dish.  Served in a copper bowl, they look like they were run through a cheese grater, but they were fresh and flavorful, a perfect bitter compliment to the mild scallops.

The restaurant manager Kevin recognized me as a regular and was kind enough to send over a complimentary drink.  The crowd is surprisingly friendly for a NJ joint as I've never had a problem striking up a conversation with a neighbor at the bar.  At closing time though you can sometimes find the scary creepy guy that should have cut his losses and left when the crowd starts to thin.  This time the guy was giving my girlfriend the more than once over.

Four stars for a nice cocktail, great food, and friendly service and atmosphere.  Always a great time.
