This is a great place for practice and lessons. Most of the regular patrons are here for either of the two.
I often come with competitive dancers to practice. The environment is very much like the scene out of the Japanese version of "Shall We Dance?". It's an old ballet studio renovated into a ballroom studio. There's still the side studio where the barres are still installed. I usually use those for stretching. There are always some youth couples or students that are ridiculously good.
However... Beginners! Don't be scared off! There are group classes on Weekday evenings, listed under the website's "Activities Schedule". The Sunday evenings I've been there, I've always come right before dance parties start.
This place is small, and the parking is street parking and a bit hard to find at times, but the independent instructors are top notch. Moreover, the owners are sweet and caring! It's a laid-back environment filled with hard-working dancers. It's definitely the best dance studio in the Palo Alto area.
This is a best place to learn and practice ballroom dancing I've found so far. (Sorry, Starlight) Â Teachers are simply excellent - both the older generation and younger ones. You definitely will find sombedy you'll be comfortable to work with.
On regular basis, it's less of a party place and more of a practice.
This is a lovely ballroom with a cozy feel to it. The floor is not nearly as massive as Starlite in Sunnyvale, which is too bad, but it has its own charm. You'll find mostly a standard crowd, but there are latin dancers from time to time. I find that the folks who come here are more advanced and more focused than those I've seen at other studios, which is definitely a plus, and it doesn't seem to get too crowded (no bumping into wedding couples). The practice rates are fair.
Review Source:I thoroughly enjoy working as a professional dancer with this ballroom. Â They are easy to work with and very responsive. Â They really care about the ballroom and take great strides to keep things clean, and polished.
I run Swing Dance classes there on Tuesdays and some Saturdays and my dancers have really appreciated the floors and the ambiance. I say check it out for sure!
Hard to sometimes find friendly, open, ballroom dance clubs with super nice and approachable owners and teachers!
The Beginner classes are on Friday night so only go on Wednesday if you want some advanced training. Friday night is a beginner dance lesson from 8pm-9pm and the cost is $15 per person ($12 if you buy 10 classes).
The owners are Former World Ranked competitors and World Class Judges so there is some serious dance knowledge there. They taught Cheryl Burke (of Dancing with the Stars) and many other studio owners. Also are currently training many top competitive couples. Staff includes competing professionals, current/past US Champions and teachers who specialize in wedding couples. This studio has won countless top studio awards from major dance events and the coveted Isadora Duncan dance award, so if ballroom dancing is your passion then go to the Imperial!
This place has potential.
I looked at their website and decided to try out their Wednesday night after class party/practice session. Â If you want to dance, don't go on a Wednesday night!!
The people there were amazing, but it was definitely a practice session since it was 5 couples and there was no changing of partners. Â So, since I went by myself, all I did was watch. Â
I'll go try out the Friday night party one of these days and hopefully it will be more dancing and less watching!
Located on the Second Floor of the building. Â Only street parking, so it can be a walk, so the later you get there, the further you need to walk. Â This studio is reknowned for their International Style Ballroom.

I go to Michelle Kinkaid's West Coast Swing dance, $10 for dance and lesson, http://www.michelledance… the second Sunday of the Month. She gets over 100 WCS dancers, beginners and intermediate dancers and have seen it over 200 at times. The place gets warm in the summers, there is a side room where she lays out snacks. Women's restrooms are tight. The floor is very nice, fast.
