I was at the airport with over an hour to kill so I wanted to eat at one of the sit-down restaurants. After having a bad experience at Cafe Patachou, I decided to give the Indy 500 Grill a try. It wasn't crowded, the food was good, my server was pleasant, food arrived quickly, and the TVs had the Olympics on...not a bad way to kill time. I had the BLT which came with fries and I had a small side salad.
Review Source:For an airport restaurant this is a pretty good option. Â
Lots of booths and big tables, plus a big bar up front. Â A pretty good menu with burgers and sandwiches making up most of it. Â
I got the pork tenderloin sandwich and it was really good. Two huge tenderloins on a fresh bun with fries. Â The family had a turkey sandwich (which looked basic) and chicken tenders. Â They all liked their stuff! Â
Service was good and the food was fresh!
The food isn't bad, but it isn't something to write home about. What else to you expect from an airport restaurant/bar? I had the hot wings, which were surprisingly decent, despite being overpriced. They also have a good bar with a decent selection of beers, which would be the only reason I go back there.
The servers are understanding of any circumstance, given that travel plans shift often and drastically.
As airport bars go-eth....not bad ! Â Food is on par with most pub grub offerings...
...but...they do offer local beers on tap ! Â The most recent being a Flat 12 product.
Cool Indy 500 themed decor....nice addition to the airport. Â I think the prices are better than most airports I go to...and I go to quite a few of them.
Very friendly and smart assish staff...which I enjoy. Â I think it takes a very special sort of sado-masochist to put up with jerky boy air travelers like myself.
The airport is cool. Â It has some decent food...and its not such a bad place to go hang out and watch a game...grab some nosh...etc.
I eat here almost every time I'm about to fly out of Indy. The prices are pretty high but I'm sure the there is a crazy high lease on the space being in the airport. That's just the cost of convenience sometimes. I absolutely LOVE the Indy 500 theme here and if it weren't in the airport I'd probably frequent it more often. This is a great place to welcome people to our great city.
Review Source:Typical typical airport restaurant.
There's the usual on the menu from burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups, to a few higher end entrees. Â Decided to stick with a BLT and even I was disappointed with that. Â Bacon was your typical thin market-bought bacon. Â I guess I expected the bacon to be at least a little bit more thicker :P Â Came with seasoned fries. Â
My co-worker ordered the steak sandwich and that definitely looked better.
It has a pretty cool decor since the theme is based off the Indy 500 races. Â Bar at the front with a good selection of beer if you want one before you take off.
Just sucks that even with such a new airport (only a little over half a year) they couldn't put in a restaurant that would break from the traditionally overpriced mediocre airport restaurants.
