The place has Nascar decorations... The menu  has breakfast/lunch/dinner choices. We had breakfast and my biscuit was nice and hot, my coffee was nice and very hot just the way coffee should be served, scrambled eggs were alright. We also liked Biscuit and gravy. Try this place you don't have to like Nascar to enter the restaurant
:-)
We came to this location after a long road trip, on a holiday weekend. Â Perhaps those are factors, perhaps not.
When we arrived, it was about 30 minutes until closing. Â There were only about 4 occupied tables in the restaurant. Â The garden with the waterwheel at the front was interesting. Â We were seated without much delay. Â Good points, the restaurant was pretty clean, and the music level was enough that you could carry on a conversation without having to yell.
A server took our drink order and brought them. Â She informed us that another server would be taking our order. Â It was evident that preplanning for closing was taking place, servers rolling silverware and having meals and such. Â We waited... and waited... and waited some more. Â After about 10 minutes, I'm wondering when someone is actually going to take our order. Â We had to ask another server, and it turned out that the server who was supposed to be taking care of us, was sitting at the silver-rolling table, facing away from any of the tables. Â So finally we got a food order in.
I got the salmon with mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, and a salad. Â My friend got the tuna melt with fries. Â My salad came first with the dressing already on it, and it was rather a lot of dressing. Â I would have preferred the dressing be in a ramekin or something. Â Still, the greens were fresh. Â As a side salad, typical, nothing special. Â Our meals arrive shortly thereafter. Â Warm, but not piping hot. Â My salmon had nice grill marks on it, but my first cuts revealed it to be a good bit on the dry side. Â Not inedible, but noticeable. Â It didn't have much seasoning, so it was overall rather bland. Â The mashed potatoes were of a uniform consistency, suggesting large batch cooking that is either instant or pre-processed, and the gravy was of a canned or jarred variety. Â Here is where the warm but not piping hot opinion comes into play, since by the time I worked through the salmon, the potatoes and gravy were only just warm. Â I had to send my cottage cheese back immediately, it had a thin layer of water on top of it, very unappetizing. Â When I told my server, she gave me an analysis of what she thought might have caused that. Â Honestly, I don't care what caused it. Â Knowing what might have caused it is pretty immaterial. Â I'd just like it fixed. Â The second bowl I received was better. Â My friend's tuna melt was adequate, not an incredible amount of flavor, and it looked to me like the bread was only slightly toasted or grilled, not much crunch.
We didn't see our server again until after we'd both finished, no follow-up check done at any point during the meal. Â We got the check, paid cash, and left.
Again, I mentioned at the start about having come in shortly before closing. Â I understand the desire to close up, especially on a holiday weekend. Â However, the last customers of the day need to get the same treatment as the first customers of the day, and it was pretty evident that most (if not all) of the staff were more concerned with closing and the holiday than taking care of the customers. Â The food was unimpressive, nothing that stands out, nothing to make me ever want to go back. Â Not a horrible experience by any stretch, but certainly nothing that would ever warrant a return visit.
