If you want a killer burger get the Knockout!!! Other food is decent.  Apricot Mango beer is good the others are so-so. All in all It's a fun clean place to hang out with some friends.

This place is a great local hangout. Great beer selection. The double IPA is bomb! the Tailgate burger is also amazing and its huge. The fries are perfect. Shit now i feel like coming back for dinner today.

My brother and I have been here many of times to watch football over the years.  Food is solid for the sports bar and I'd rank it over Buffalo Wild Wings in terms of quality.  Beer selection is a little limited, but they cover the basis on the ones that they offer.  Service has been a little hit or miss, but more hits than misses.  Management has always been very accommodating on changing the games due to the amount of fans that are in place.

Went for an early dinner on Friday night, the place was a little empty which we expected.  Ordered the grilled kielbasa which said it came with vegetables.  Guess they ran out since all I got were strips of red and green bell peppers. Not my expectation of vegetable.  The special mustard sauce is good if you like horseradish, which was a little overpowering for my taste.  The plate looked totally gross when it arrived, should have just sent it back.  My husband ordered a burger which was okay, very little BBQ sauce had to ask for more and the French fries-COLD!!   The place didn't fill up much by the time we left which I thought was strange for a Friday night, but now I now why.

I went here for lunch.  I was there at about 1 pm and my party was basically the only ones in the restaurant.  So service was pretty good.

I love onion rings and the waitress said that they would be good.  They were just OK....  A little too much batter that wasn't cooked all the way through.

I had the shrimp special it was very bland, reminded me of a frozen tv dinner.  It wasn't horrible but I wouldn't order it again.  One of my guests had the pulled pork sandwich which they said was very good, she did eat the whole thing.  It actually did look pretty tasty.

I really think it deserves 2 stars, but it is a sports bar and I can't expect too much.

Stopped there again today to watch a basketball ball game while having lunch.  Just like a prior trip, the bar was closed closed for a private party and we instead went to another sports bar.  I have never experienced that at another sports bar and you should view this as more of a catering center.  Sure wish we had a decent sports bar in San Ramon.  As much as we try, Jacks continues to disappoint.

First of all, I just have to say that I am LMAO at Marilyn B's review. What does she expect from a sports bar??? If she wants lowfat food, I suggest going to the 99% of other restaurants in the area where trying to find deliciously unhealthy food is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Secondly, Marilyn B. clearly didn't even read the entire menu if she thinks everything here is deep fried. There is an ample selection of CHARBROILED chicken sandwiches, for one thing, and an interesting variety of entree salads for another. I myself enjoyed a surprisingly delightful GRILLED salmon salad. Husband had the Black Jack burger which he loved, and two year old enjoyed mini corndogs. I also had a Grid Iron Amber which was probably one of the best ambers I've ever tasted. My family will definitely be back soon!

Great for happy hour since 4 hungry girls descended on this place with a huge appetite! :-P They were so kind. When I ordered nachos with sour cream (which it comes with) on accident they made a special dish with out sour cream just to make sure my friend was happy --- she hates any white sauce (little did I know).

Good wine selection and great beer selections.

The place has a Elk's lodge feel, and would probably be a great place to watch sports if I was into that kind of thing :-P

The 90s called: they want their deep fried heart attack menu back.  Everything here is deep fried except the burgers.  The night I was here, most of the patrons were really overweight.  I think Jack's menu might have a role in that.

Waitress was friendly, had the prepared bill in hand when she asked if we wanted dessert and it was on the table as soon as "no" left our lips.

Beer was good but I need to drink more to be sure.

Jack's is a great sports bar with great traditional American bar food and drinks with attentive service. I enjoyed their IPA and seasonal wheat beer called "Boys of Summer" which is light and refreshing. For all the times I've been to Jack's, it has been fairly quiet. It's an excellent place to discuss business over beer or even enjoy dinner with the family.

Been here quite a few times, we try to come during happy hour, and I always get the island chicken skewers. There always so delicious. There typical menu is a little on the pricey side, but the foods always better quality than I think it's going to be, I got the chicken teriyaki stir-fry which was delicious. My dad got the burger, and he really liked the meat.
Happy Hour is the best deal, so try to come then.

Food was just boring.  The servers don't seem happy at all. Management needs to up their game to stay in business in this area.  Atmosphere was boring, I don't know what all the businesses in this center are so blah. With the exception of Ma jollie my wife doesn't shut up about that place.  The center itself is really nice but the businesses in this center all seem to be lacking.

It's a dive, but not bad for watching a Sunday afternoon football game.  I'd have preferred a different venue by the time the SNF game wrapped up -  the bar patrons were fairly obnoxious.  Nachos and wings were decent.  The bartender responsible for the bar seating area seemed more interested in yapping with his buddies at the bar than his job - service was a bit slow.

Consistently good sports bar food.  Weekday lunch crowd is subdued but would like to experience the place during a sporting event night (football anyone?) and to taste the beers on tap.

Service was attentive which is a pleasant surprise given we were on a tight time schedule (had to get back to work).

    Will definitely be back.

Hey San Ramon. I come visit this town maybe twice yearly since my parents have moved here. I'm a huge football fan and Jacks is the classiest, and only spot in town to go watch football on a Saturday or Sunday. They have their own beers on tap, and easily good enough food to enjoy yourself. If you are thinking Outpost or Firehouse 37 - stop. Just go to Jacks.

Took my Dad here today for Father's Day. He comes here a lot, but it was my first visit. We both got Porters (good!), and burgers with garlic fries. I had the Knock Out burger, which has a couple slices of pastrami on top, and it was really good. There was a ton of garlic with the fries, which is the way I like it.

We sat outside since the weather was nice, and the service was good. They checked on us every now and then, but it wasn't so often that it interrupted our conversation.

I can see why he likes this place, and I think I'll definitely be coming back in the future.

I had great expectations, because I heard the burgers were good. I came on with a group of friends. The night started out good. We placed drinks in, but didn't see the server for about a good ten minutes. When the drinks came, they had a lot of ice on them and one drink (that was ordered weak) was way too strong. The Margarita was $11.

I ordered the buffalo chicken, kinda expecting it to be breaded (the menu didn't say how it was prepared), but it came out grilled. On top of that the chicken was a thin slab, the lettuce was almost thicker. And the blue cheese dressing looked like it was wiped on thin with a knife.

One friend ordered the salmon, however the menu didn't say that it came with garnished and with salsa. And another friend ordered a club sandwich and added a salad to it. It came out as a side salad with an order of fries. On top of that, there was no bacon in the sandwich.

Suffice to say the menu and the servers could be more explanatory. There's to be more information on what you are getting.

On the upside, I still heard the burgers were good from the ones who ordered them.

    Dear Buffalo Chicken Salad Fairy,

Thank you for sprinkling your Buffalo Chicken Fairy Dust Magic on Jack's Brewing Company.  I've never been so happy with fresh leafy greens, spicy and zesty buffalo chicken (grilled b/c I'm trying to be good somewhere) and all the fixings to make a completely delicious salad.

Also please thanks your friend, the Kids Menu Fairy, because the last time I went with my friend and her sweet little baby--We got the grilled cheese kids meal for her and it was delicious also....plus I got to eat some of her fries because I so smartly swapped out the fried chicken for grilled.

Oh and please give a shout out to the beer fairy (aka server/bartender).  Service is consistent and I keep coming back.

    Your Fan,
    Robin L

Great food at reasonable prices, what more could you ask for?!  I've been here about 5-6 times now, usually for lunch while working but for dinner a couple of times.  I've never once had an issue with my order, nor have I been disappointed with anything I've been served.

Tons of TVs with anything sports on whenever I go.  Haven't been there on a game night, but I can only imagine that it's *the* place to be.

The *only* bad thing I could say is parking can get a little interesting.  There's a garage under the buildings in the same shopping complex, but those spaces are narrow, even for my car (mid size coupe).  Outside parking tends to fill up quick!

    Keep up the great work!

Definitely a cool spot to watch the game or grab a beer. I came in on a late afternoon for a quick lunch while at work.

    B -- S
-- Seems like there's plenty of parking
-- Definitely reminds me of other brewing/bar places I've been to
    -- Very knowledgable bar tender
-- Plenty of TVs for whatever event
-- Location isn't typical (in a plaza with random businesses)
    -- Decent salad and chicken
    -- Decent happy hour options

I was the only person in the place around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. The bar tender was very friendly and helpful. He answered all my questions and I ended up ordering the Sesame Chicken Salad. Quality of the salad was just ok. The chicken was good but not anything mind blowing. I thought it was supposed to come with 4 skewers but it came with 3. Not a huge deal.

Given my current eating habits, I probably won't be back here personally but if you want to come check out a game and grab a beer, I would definitely suggest this place if you're in San Ramon.

My mom and I went here on Mother's Day. Strange pick for mama's day, I know, but she had heard great things about it and so we decided to give it a try.

The interior was really nice...and we were seated and served promptly.
    So far, so good.
Except after receiving our appetizer, I became skeptical about what we were actually in for, as the Spinach & Artichoke Dip came out cold and tasted more like Spinach Pieces With Mayonnaise.
    Ew.

My mom's dish seemed to turn out okay, as I'm fairly certain she had the salmon. I ordered the Shredded Chicken Tacos.
The tacos were decent. No complaints there.
The rice and beans, however, tasted like they had been simmered in chemicals.
    Ugh.

So even if the food was disappointing, the service was great and the restaurant was ridiculously clean for being super busy.

    My overall opinion?
Seems like a great place to watch the game and booze it up.
The sports memorabilia adorning the walls is pretty cool, as well.

    But will I come back...?
If you were to assume so, then you don't know Jack. ;)

Been going since it opening just over a year ago now. Pretty much my favorite local joint to meet the boys for a hand-crafted brew and catch MNF, or whatever games are popping. Stay late and they might put a funny movie on one of the TVs. I keep forgetting to look for the cheesy ferns poeple say are there... atmosphere is ok for a sports-type bar.

I just love IPAs and Jack's are right up there, so for me - this is a great place. If you want Coors Light, hey, you're in luck because that is the only one they sell not brewed by them.

But it's a BAR people, the food will get you through the 2nd half but most choices would not make your personal trainer proud. I found a few items I like and usually stick with them; currently digging the chicken pesto pizza. Service can get jammed up a bit, but they'll always try to make you happy, so go ahead and send the fries back if they're cold or whatever.

Was staying @ the nearby Marriott and the front desk recommended Jack's.  Great choice! I had the Chipotle Pasta and it was INSANE! Also washed them back w/ both IPA's they make...the double was 9%+ and also very good!

Service was great. Hostess & waitress were nice & cute. Good vibe all around.

Would go back again tonight & eat the same thing if I had a ride.

My husband and I tried this place for the first time maybe a year or so ago. The food was somewhat forgettable. Forgettable as I was, I do remember that I ordered the fish and chips and I was very disappointed. I am the type of person who loves anything fried. So you would be hard-pressed to find fish and chips that I won't like. But I didn't like these. They tasted overcooked and burnt. The fries did too. I don't really like to cook, so I can't speculate as to what causes this - whether it's because the oil is too hot or if they were left in for too long. Either way I do remember not liking it.

Fast forward a year and we were going out for dinner and a movie last night. Ever since having the best nachos ever at Ono's at the Westin Kaanapali, I've been on a hunt for awesome local nachos. So before the movie we decided to hit Jacks - give it a second shot.

Once again, the food was not good. It's unfortunate because it's a cozy place. Both my husband and I liked the atmosphere, the flat screen TV's are cool and it's nice and comfortable. I ordered the nachos and my husband ordered a pizza.  His pizza came sliced up in little pieces on his plate - it literally looked like a frozen pizza that they'd added their own toppings to. It was honestly gross. And I'm not a food snob. I don't care how white-trash or fast-foody something tastes, if it's good, I'll eat it. But this was not good. Nor were the nachos.  We definitely won't be going back to Jack's.  And my search for awesome nachos continues....

I've gone here several times to watch basketball games... And I must say that the people are always extremely friendly.  The food service is a little slow, but the people and atmosphere make this place a local favorite.

I'll keep going back for sure!

Gayle and I had a busy day yesterday. We had our first dog training class at ARF in the morning and then decided to visit the Shed Shop in Fremont to help deal with our combined household storage needs.

We were both hungry in between and thanks to Gayle's Yelp App and my preference for Brew Pub fare, we ended up at Jack's Brewing Company. It was also one of those times when my spatial sense trumped anything the iphone directions were telling me. That also helped as Jack's location didn't physically grab us, as we read the street numbers down San Ramon Valley Boulevard.

We enjoyed our time here. We got a nice and comfortable booth by the window and our service was friendly and attentive. The food and the check also came out "on time". Gayle ordered the Anniversary Ale and I chose the Double IPA, both of which were excellent. We also enjoyed the neighbourhood sports bar vibe, although we're not from around here.

I then chose the Fish and Chips (Arctic Cod). My initial take was that the fish pieces looked too over deep fried and maybe greasy. But as Gayle pointed out and I confirmed, the batter was fresh/crisp, while the fish underneath was really tasty. The fries were just OK and both of us agreed that we preferred our cole slaw light and with vinegar, not Jack's sweeter and heavier version. Gayle had better consistency with her Glazed Steak Flatbread and Salad Dish. We both enjoyed the combination of flavours and textures. And both dishes went very well with the beer.

One of the reasons we came here (outside of timing and convenience) was that Gayle wanted an alternative to stopping in Danville. However, if you desire similar cuisine and want to walk around town, Pete's Brass Rail and Car Wash is a decent alternative.

A decent selection of local brews, and what they have is good quality.  I enjoyed the Hardwood Pale, Grid Iron Amber, and Penalty Shot Porter.  Their IPA is quite good too.

I don't remember the food being bad or overly good.  Just normal bar fare, but a decent selection that should please all in your party.

This place has a normal sports bar atmosphere to it, but feels roomier than most and family friendly.  I would go back.

I've only had one meal here so far, and it was for Thursday lunch with colleagues.

Service was prompt, friendly and attentive.

I had the Salmon Salad: Fresh fillet of salmon spice rubbed and grilled. Served atop baby greens, buttermilk ranch, salsa fresca & tortilla strips.

I like my salmon very slightly rare in the middle, to me anything beyond that dries out a salmon, and I HATE dry salmon.  Well my server definitely took care of me , and made sure that my salmon was perfect.  For that, Jack's won my repeat business.    I will be back again when I could try some of their beer.

Went to Jacks today for lunch with a co-workers. It was very busy but we  were seated right away. The server was right there, friendly, quick and efficient. He took our drink order, then brought us water then our drinks. All at a good pace.

He then took our meal order, the food came out quick despite how busy they were. The food was hot but fresh and just what we ordered. He came by to see if we needed anything and when we asked for napkins and more sauce he was right on it.

He saw when we were done and brought to go containers and our check. He thanked us when we walked out. Our server, drinks and meal were all enjoyable.

The only problem I have with this place is the noise level. The way it is open creates every conversation to become one loud roar. So you have to talk a bit louder to hear each other. Not sure there is much they can do about it. Just need to SPEAK UP!!! :)

I've just returned from Jack's website to look at their menu to remember what I had for clearly-not-very-memorable dinner I had there.  On two occassions.

It's a nice looking place - clean and lots of TVs to what whatever game you're into.  The manager and servers are friendly.

And there ends the positives of this joint.  First time was a chicken sandwich, allegedly "generously topped with..." but in reality, not so much.  Bland, boring and a rather skimpy portion IMNSHO.  Second trip was fish and chips.  A bit much on the batter and a little oily inside, but passable.  The goo in which to dip it wasn't particularly good.  True mediocrity.

I think they source all their grub across the way at Costco.  Bad form.

Average would be OK, were the prices commensurate.  Which they are not.

    Too bad.

    Food: Great!
    Atmosphere: Great
    Service: Better

I live in Fremont, and was originally impressed by the Jack's in Fremont.  I expected great things from this place.  There is no doubt in my mind that the food is just as good here, and so it the atmosphere... But the incredible service in Fremont didn't make it to the San Ramon location, but it's getting there.

The last couple times I've been here, it felt like I needed to be wearing a jersey to get any service at all.  I understand that it's a "sports bar" but there are other people in the place that just want good food, and a good time.

This week when we went the server was great.  She was so attentive, and was really helpful.  I loved her personality, and I enjoyed being there this time.  I look forward to going in next time, and I'm crossing my fingers for the same experience.

I still think my original review from the Fremont location is accurate. I like Jacks because the service is quick, the beer is good and the atmosphere is casual. Plus, my boyfriend can stare at one of the fifty televisions while I shove gross amounts of food into my face. Having a meal and drinks here won't break the bank as they are reasonably priced.

But I definitely feel that they could spice up their menu and try some different things. The food isn't bad by any means but also won't get people up in arms about it so don't go expecting a five star meal. It is a brewery. And to their credit, they put a lot of focus in their brewing and have done a very nice job.

Oh, a plus about this location as opposed to Fremont is that they have a full bar for you to get shitty! And then you can stumble across the parking lot and find some cougar/sad old men action at Shbooms!

I will round up and say 2.5 stars.  How I miss Bighorn Grill....

After looking at the menu, it sounded good enough, the first time we came here was with co-workers....it seemed to be a cute little spot for locals to come by after work and hang out during the week.  My first visit we ordered a bunch of appetizers which was pretty good.   Everyone seemed to enjoy the food and the staff was good so we decided we would be back.  The second time my co-workers and I came for lunch, about 8 of us.  There wasn't a long wait and we were seated promptly- again the staff was efficient and friendly.....however this time the food was not as good as our first visit.

I asked our waitress if they had soup and they said they don't have any in yet....hm....no soup....kind of weird!  A co-worker asked for root beer and they were out......again, kind of weird!

Everyone ordered something different, so I got a fair analysis from everyone on their meals since no one duplicated orders and all had a "good salad or good sandwich".   Some people got the salads, burgers, tacos, pasta, etc....so a mix of everything on the menu.  I got the chicken tacos.

The chicken on the tacos were good, very tender....that was about the only good thing about my meal.  The taco consisted of corn tortilla, chicken and salsa served on top of a Spanish rice (which was bland) and refried beans (which was also bland)...other than the chicken, everything else was pretty tasteless.

When I asked everyone else how they liked their meals, some said the same, bland...and others said smothered with too much so they couldn't really taste anything.  A lot of the ladies said they had stomach aches after eating here....so all in all, are we going back for company lunch again- probably not.

Stick with the appetizers, beer and sports....skip the entrees!

All I wanted was good food from this new place.  The previous place that used to be here was horrible.  Luckily I was not disappointed.

Of course this is not gourmet or flashy food by any means, but it works very well for a business lunch.

The prices were slightly more than what I expected but $40.00 for 3 people is not bad.

I had the Sesame Chicken Salad.  My big draw to this was the fresh Red Bell Pepper.  I am addicted to Red Bell Pepper.  They put a generous amount on the salad.

It was a nice portion size.  The Grilled Chicken came on these skewers (see photo) that my coworkers told the waitress I wasn't aloud to have because I would use it as a weapon.  So?

I really didn't see what my counterparts ordered.  Someone ordered the Meatloaf Sandwich that I thought about getting.  It didn't look like Meatloaf to me but he ate the whole thing so I guess that was a good sign.

Still don't know if they actually have a full bar.  All I saw was a wine and beer list.  Ill have to double check on that because I didn't see a bar at all.

Ill probably be back for more lunches.

    Not a Fan..

After Big Horn Grill closed...( jack's is in BH old building)

I was looking forward to Jack's opening, then I ate there.

The food was very plain. Calamari was genaric and the sauce was plain.
Chicken Skewers were dissappointing, one skewer was enough... the other 4 went to waste.

I will say that the atmosphere was nice. Everything is new and they have lots of nice TV's and the Manager seems nice and likes to make you feel welcome.

Now if only they can serve some decent food..

    *UPDATE*
Good place to get a cold beer, but stay away from the food.
Nice view of the parking lot from the patio.

I will say that the people who work here give good service. And seem to enjoy where they work

We went here for a work lunch on a Friday and I have to say I was very impressed with out fast their service was for a party of 15.  The beer was pretty tasty.  I tried the mango apricot which is their specialty and the wheat.  I prefered the wheat one. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was just mediocre.   However, everyone else at the table had chicken skewers, burgers, and salads and everyone really enjoyed their meals.

I had gone to Bighorn once and I really like how Jack's has changed the inside to be more open and light.  The many t.v.'s showing sports is also a plus.

I've been to Jack's a few times and I've thoroughly enjoyed each visit.

First of all: the customer service was top notch! The staff was completely attentive to our needs and were always available for extra food, beers, condiments, water etc. I don't like having to wave down the staff so it was nice to be attended to so well.

Second: The beers were very tasty (I had the IPA, and the Hefeweizen... very nice for a hot day) and I highly recommend trying a few of their other brews. The bartender was very nice as well (the one during the day I haven't had a chance to go there at night) and made some good drinks for me and my girlfriend and was very friendly.

Third: The interior is very nice and will probably be my home base come football Sundays. (They have tons of TVs)

Fourth: The Black Jack burger is VERY tasty (add bacon to make it total burger perfection). I also like that when they ask you how they want you to cook it... they actually cook it the way you ask! *so many times I've ordered medium/medium rare and received it well done.

I give Jack's five stars because I'm happy to have a quality pub with tasty brews, delicious food (the fries were very good too my girlfriend stole most of mine) and very friendly customer service.

    Highly recommended!

Jack's is more sports bar and less brewery.

Jack's has potential but they better understand that if the wait staff doesn't know an IPA from a stout, I'll keep going to the Hopyard or even Pete's! They should also know that young and pretty is good, but having a brain is also important.
I asked the pretty waitress what the alcohol level was in the different beers. She had to check. She returned and said, "they're like between like 3% and like 4%, but like one is like 7%".  Like OMG! (actually most are 5.5%...like)
They also charged $7 for 6 small samplers. That's some chutzpah.
To be honest, their beer was ok...nothing special, nothing bad. The 21st Amendment has nothing to worry about.

On the good side, my pasta dish was cooked perfectly and Mike the manager was gracious and very accommodating.
I'll be back, but not soon.

Oh boy - MAJOR letdown!: Tacky decor, fake plants, and the service was slowww (although everyone was very nice, and I understand they had just opened). How can a NEW place already seem outdated? (kind of Best Western Lobby-esque-looking, as my friend put it).

BEFORE Jack's actually opened (meaning; BEFORE I knew there was going to be a sports bar type place there) / when the place was still empty; I would drive by and secretly wish for a hip, urban-vibe, chic, unique, modern, sexy, affordable, 'gastro-pub' type place with excellent FOOD to open up in this spot... a place with simple, fresh, organic/locally-grown options, and creative/tasty ingredients (sort of like 'Sideboard' in Danville, but with great beers and wine).  I was NOT expecting anything "fancy" or "5-star" (heck, I only went to Big Horn twice & wasn't impressed with them, either!).  I just want good FOOD.

The menu is very predictable - your standard 1980's-type deep-fried items, burgers, chicken sandwiches, & salads. The fact that they call themselves a "microbrewery" is laughable - the beers were just plain BAD (tried the Hef, the amber ale, & the IPA - all tasted "off" - even hubby and the folks at the table next to us agreed they tasted like a home-brewer's 'fail').

Their artichoke dip was disgusting (I've made better myself & have had better out of a carton) -super oily coagulated cheese with a weird acidic/sour aftertaste - served with low-quality-tasting, pale, sickly-looking, barely toasted sliced sourdough bread and some tortilla chips (including some dyed, bright RED ones!? ~oooooh, fancy!).

The 'green salad' appeared that some of it must've fallen onto the floor - it didn't even fill up the bowl halfway and had some weird, miniature croutons (cut into 8ths) -drowning in icky, sub-par dressing.

The Fish Tacos were sad - three low-quality-tasting tortillas with a sprinkling of weird, tiny, unidentifiable deep-fried fish bits (picture miniature fish dice), a drizzle of some sort of chipotle-mayo & shredded lettuce (where's the hunk of nice, moist, flaky fish and cabbage?? -we got more breading & grease than actual 'fish'!!).  You can get better fish tacos just about anywhere.

The grilled salmon ($15 bucks) was deeelicious (yay!!) - great grill/char flavor and perfectly cooked! - but the 'veggies' (just some onion & green bell pepper slices??) lacked, and I'm convinced that the side was microwave Rice-A-Roni Spanish rice. Gross.

I don't envision coming back here.  I suppose it caters to families/kids and sports bar type dudes (TV's all over the walls), but we were not pleased with the overall taste, texture, & 'QUALITY'  -or freshness - of the food you get (I've had better tasting food off of a Roach-Coach or Taco Truck).  I guess it would be OK for an after-work drink at the bar, or watching sports with your buds if that's your thing.  Thumbs down, for me.  Sorry, JACK!
