Great steaks but the macadamia crusted halibut could make me swear off red meat.  Not inexpensive but you get a lot for your money.

My family & I love this Jameson's. Not only is it convenient to get to, but their quality of food is as good as the original Jameson's. 5 stars!!!

Martinis watered down. Bad selections of wine. Food? Go across the street to Around the clock, same quality.

Food has always been good so has the service. I have never had a bad meal here.  Make sure to come hungry because the portions are big and you get a salad with dinner. Oh and the pasta is literally like a 1lb of pasta

Its Friday night, you know you want to go out for dinner. Where do you go? Maybe try something new, a new place that opened up? Oh how about that sushi place everyone is talking about? Jamesons in one of those places that for me and my gf always pops up. Its just one of those places that is always a great experience. I've been going there for over 3 years and have never once had a bad experience. Its get really packed on the weekends so be sure to reserve a spot if you have a little something special planned. You can sit at the bar but the drinks are like $458 a piece. Ok ok so they aren't that much but we are talking Chicago bar prices. The chicken tortellini soup is goddamn delicious and I swear when i tell you a look like a caveman eating it. Its that good!!

    Poor, poor, poor.
Go anywhere else.  Slow service, incorrectly prepared food.  When they are busy, get out because it all falls apart.  Wine by the glass had no choices, so you got a grocery store budget wine.  The manager knew there was a problem and comped a meal that was sent back to the trash 1/4 eaten.  This is a classless place.

I love this place, so cozy and friendly service. The food is amazing chicken rice soup was the best I ever had. Our server was Maria she was top notch check on us we never without needing anything.
As the many reviews states you get soup and salad included, I took my salad to go and most of dinner to go so much food delicious. If you are  Crystal Lake Jameson is perfect for any occasion and fits just about anyone price point.

My meal was titled #thingsyouregretinthemorning. Not because it wasn't delicious, but because it was an immense amount of food.

I ordered the Porterhouse... a petite 24oz steak that comes complete with an army of stomach fillers. With all steaks you receive a starter soup (New England Clam Chowder in my case) which was amazing in both taste and texture. Second you receive a salad (I chose traditional with ranch) that is very standard.

Lastly you receive the steak... It was both epic and delicious. My only complaint is that everyone at our table received steaks that weren't cooked to request. Also the steaks were slightly bland albeit very tender.

Overall I think the meal is worth the price but be careful how cooked you ask for. It's a decent restaurant for the suburbs, but there are better in the city.

Mmmmm, the prime rib was marvelous, very good mashed potatoes and i need to mention you get soup and salad with your entrees. I had cream of brocolli which was awesome and the salad was fresh and refreshing. The prices weren't bad at all and the service was very good also. A very pleasant dinner. The only reason it wasn't 5 stars is because the wife's pan-fried walleye was soggy and a bit greasy because if was served in a lemon butter sauce. It was kinda drowned in it.

One of my favorite places.  Food is excellent - staff very attentive.  A good value, soup, salad and main course with good prices.  LOVE their fish.

We were just here. The crab cakes are excellent. Tip, if you want to save some money and just get an appetizer, go after 4 pm and sit at the bar, they offer half price appetizers after 4pm at the bar only. Our crab cakes went from 11.95 to 5.98. Good deal. I thing the half price apps go from 4-6 pm. The cocktail shrimp is awesome as well. It is extremely delicious. Also, this is a great place for dinner. Their filet mignon is awesome.

Ive been here more than a few times.  First time was when they first opened and everything was amazing, steaks were awesome and the drinks were strong but every time Ive gone since then the quality has gotten worse and worse.  The last visit was also the last straw.  The steaks tasted like they were microwaved, veggies were mushy and drinks were way under poured.  The wait staff is usually pretty attentive but you kind of get the feeling they are trying to push you out.  Jameson's has turned into a typical chain with tasteless food.

I have been here a few times now and I have never had any issues with service or food to date. So to me, it's pretty darn good overall. I have been lucky enough to eat at some of the best steak houses in the USA and I ranked the taste of the steak here about as good as anything I have had, it just cost less. The last visit I did was a Friday and they had a cowboy cut ribeye on special for I think $29. And considering being a 28 ounce steak, it was a good deal and was cooked perfectly. I have paid a lot more for a steak at for example Shula's that was twice as much and not as good as this one. Yes it can be quite crowded here just about any night of the week so get reservations and expect that you still might have to wait a little when you get there.

This place is still okay.  On this visit, I sat with a group at a table.  When our party grew by one person, we asked if it would be all right if we moved to a bigger table.  Management said okay and we moved.  Unfortunately this table was right by the bathroom and the kitchen, so people constantly walked by.  This was not a bother to us, but it was to management.  They asked us to arrange our seating for the best foot traffic flow around and mentioned moving us to yet another table.  This was annoying.  We were all sitting in a row.

There was a sign on our table that said half price appetizers in the bar from 4pm-7pm.  Our server said you couldn't get the sale unless you were seated at the bar rail.  So why put these signs on all 8 tables in the bar if you can't get it at a table?

The potato skins were excellent.  The calamari was good but the sauce was a poor match.  I still think this place is a 6 out of 10.  Pretty forgettable and the service is nothing to write home about.

While in Crystal Lake for a dog show, we had the opportunity to leave the hotel for dinner, and chose Jameson's. While the wait for a table was almost an hour (we didn't reserve on a Friday night) it was well worth the time. Excellent service, food well presented and hot. Everyone enjoyed their steaks and seafood. My only disappointment was in the char-broiled salmon which I chose at the server's suggestion...flavorful, but over-cooked. Other than that, a  terrific meal!

Don't get me wrong, the food here is above average for the area but the service stinks.  Our waitress was rude and she interrupted our conversation many times to ask us arbitary things which was very irritating.  FYI- they only give you 3 spears of asparagus as a side and mine were half inedible due to the gross, woody texture.  The manager did try and make us happy by comping us a dessert, which was nice, but I won't be going back to Jameson's any time soon.

So disappointing.  My husband and I went out on a date and decided to give Jameson's a try.  We tried to make dinner AND a movie but because we spent so long at Jameson's, we had to forgo the movie.

We went on a Saturday night so they were a bit busy.  We had to wait for about 25 minutes which wasn't a big deal.  Took a while for our waiter to show up, again..not a huge deal since they were busy.  I ordered a beer and a glass of water.  The beer came and no water.  I ended up asking for my water THREE times before it finally showed up.  My meal was supposed to come with soup AND salad.  I ask for the french onion and he said there would be an up charge for that.  Fine, no big deal, however, when our bill came, I was charged a full $4.95 for the soup.  Not an up charge but more like charged full price for what was supposed to come with my dinner.

I ordered my filet medium well, and made a point to ask the waiter about how pink that would be.  He said there might be a little pink  but not much.  when we finally got our food, about 30 minutes later, my steak was basically rare.  Every time I cut into it blood ran into my mashed potatoes.  YUCK!  Hardly medium well.  When I finally saw my waiter again, I told him about my steak, eventually a manager came over, apologized and asked if she could send it back to be cooked longer.  No problem.

About 15 minutes later, my steak shows up.  You would think since they screwed up so badly I would at least get a fresh plate of food but no, I got my two little pieces of meat and a measly sprig of flavorless broccoli.  This time, my steak  was overcooked but I was just ready to go and didn't want to mess with it anymore.

There was no mention of comping my meal or offering some discount for my inconvenience.  The manager never bothered to come back and make sure my steak was cooked properly the second time and eventually the bill showed up with my "up charged" soup.

I know things happen when we eat out, but I would like to think that they would do a better job of making things right.  In this case, they did not.  The food was just okay.  Nothing special.  I could have had the same if not better at any other steak place.  In fact, I wish I'd gone to the Outback down the street.

This was not a very good dining experience.  It took about 45 minutes to receive food after ordering....they were not busy either. I had this same issue the last time I went to this Jameson's. My filet migon was cooked perfectly and was very good. However, the boiled potatoes were well over cooked and had clearly been sitting around for several hours. The side vegetable of  green beans was awful. Why do some restaurants insist on ruining a fresh vegetable by crapping it up with oil, butter, salt, and garlic! Outback has way better food and service. Won't be back for a long time, if at all.

Arrived Sunday 1230. Been going there awhile and it has slipped down from excellent to below average. Had the Scottish salmon. Prior to ordering I quiried the waitress, " what makes the salmon a scottish salmon over any other type of salmon?" Her repiy was,"the seasoning it is good." Out comes this hunk of salmon with nothing on it. No herbs, butter, pepper, n o t h i n g. My son odered the pork roast dinner, that he claims,"I can get at any restaurant and would taste as good as this or better." His sweet potatoe arrived as my salmon; naked. Don't they ask if you want the brown sugar anymore? The service was mediocre. Waited for water. Twelve tables and you are waiting for a waitress. Uh? The filet was delicious says the daughter-in-law.  Oh, the person that mentioned the one tomato in the salad is correct.

Went on Friday & had about a 35 minute wait; we were told 30-40 minutes so they nailed it. Drinks were adequate & wife said appletini tasted like sour apple so I think that's a good thing. Riveted was excellent and cooked perfectly. So was my wife's prime rib. French onion soup appetizer had plenty of cheese and onions and was not overly salty like you get at some places. Our waitress AMY was fantastic, she even predicted the time the French onion soup would arrive at the table and she nailed it. Great job by all and plenty of leftovers, Amy threatened I would have to stay until I cleaned my plate. Wish I could have it was a great time.

You would think a steakhouse would have good steaks, not so. Waiter was nice, hostesses were a bit weird, almost like it was their first time interacting with humans. When reviewing a steakhouse I first think steak and then service. Both were poor.

I agree with many of the reviews here both positive and negative.

    On the positive is:
-Their experience is a fairly good steakhouse with a fairly good steaks.
-They have cooked each of my steaks a decent medium rare.
-I have never had an overly grissled piece of meat.
-Decent salads but maybe a bit simple fresh ingredients etc for sure
-The service can be warm and genuine and very polished
-I like options available for beer.
-I feel like they do a pretty decent job at their dinners.

    On the negative:
-I think that in this day and age a salad can be made with beautiful options, I believe there should be a wider variety on their menu especially allowing for vegetarians to dine with those people who want a steak....and especially add in some of the finer leafs...
-Although the steaks are of good quality... It just seems many of the plates aren't given any sort of examination for perfect arrangment etc so the dinner can see that their meal mattered.
-To repeat, the meat seems to be of good quality but also it seems like the meat is too cold to hit the grill... Kind of like they don't pay attention to racking their cuts long enough, therefore my steaks have never quite had the "melts in your mouth" experience.
-Service can by very dry and service oriented, not to say rude, just not happy and friendly.

Try this place if you want a decent meal, with a decent price and you could maybe even good for a special occasion but I would make sure you tell the hostess maybe you would like a very good server as it is a special night for you.

I always look forward to a meal here although I see room for improvement.:)

I usually frequent this restaurant for lunch, however this time we ate dinner. I was quite surprised by the experience.

I had the fillet and lobster tail. My wife just had the fillet. Everything was cooked to perfection. There was so much food, we had to take the rest home.

The only issue was the noise. Ask to sit in a booth because once it gets crowded on a Friday or Saturday night it's hard to converse with your guests.

Overall, I was impressed since my last review and I would definitely return for a nice dinner meal again.

This is where my parents take me to eat when I return to Crystal Lake to celebrate a birthday. The ambiance is nothing special--you can tell the place used to be a Bennigan's. The food I have to say is pretty good, bordering on great for its price point. Jameson's is basically Crystal Lake's take on a Chicago steak house. Sure it's not  Morton's or Gibson's, but it's also a third of the price--and it's still pretty good. The last time I went you could get a steak and a lobster tail for $30. You'll pay almost twice that in Chicago.

Jameson's is a good Crystal Lake dining option for people looking for a great steak at a reasonable price. I can't say I know the Crystal Lake dining scene, but this place has to be included amongst the best in town.

Went there for a surprise 30th Birthday part, and I think there were 17 of us. The disappointing thing was they couldn't seat us all at one table, or configure the tables so that we were all facing each other... So we sat at 2 different large tables, right next to each other.

I was very happily surprised at how quick the entire wait-staff was to keep up with a table this size. They were so good about refilling drinks, clearing dishes/glasses, and coming back to check if we needed anything.  Our waiter (Mike) was also really good. He had quite a sense of humor, was a fast and super-friendly. It was amazing how he made it look so easy, and we could see that he had several other tables besides our large bunch.

The restaurant itself was nice enough. Nothing flashy or anything. I believe they had converted this from a Bennigans, and they did a nice job.

The food: I personally had a chopped steak (glorified hamburger) that was delish. The people around me had filet mignon, BBQ ribs, fish of some   sort, and they were all VERY happy with their dish. There wasn't a complaint to be had.

Also surprisingly, with the entrees you got both soup AND salad. I had the chicken tortellini and it was decent enough. Most of the others got the Cream of Broccoli and LOVED it.

Overall I'd say it was a great experience. I think the cost was fabulous and very fair, the restaurant itself was decent... I'd definitely go back. Not too shabby for way out in the burbs!

    Would I recommend it? Absolutely.

MEAT!!!!!! Nothing like a good steak house to wet my appetite!

I like being out of town on business. Free food and travel. THere are some similar palces in Michigan to this restaurant. I liked this one quite a bit.

I had to try as my name indicates the burger. This was really good. Half pound angus meet prepared perfectly with some light flavor tasty spices. Decent fries and plenty of iced tea(in a business meeting). I was actually tempted to try the talipia. The other three people I was with had it and loved it(not their first time). Next trip I must try the steaks.

What kind of steakhouse has no drink or dessert menu?

Wait staff was good, but the food was so-so.  Soup was nothing great, but it was OK.  The steak was done well, decent charring,  but was a little weak on flavor.

    Desserts were boring and unimaginative.

It was a Friday night and they were very crowded. They said there would be a 30 minute wait so we stayed. We had our table 20 minutes later and I thought they were a very well run organization. Plenty of Bartenders, Waitresses and Bus Boys to take care of everything. We ordered 3 steaks and the walleye and everything was great!  All the dinners included salad, soup and vegetables. 2 Glasses of wine and our bill was under $100. I will return and highly recommend.

The service in this place sucks, Period!  You have to wait way too long for an order, even if it is not busy.  The steaks are ok, but nothing  to write home about. too little seasoning, too little finesse on the grill.  Sides are ok, but  again nothing that stands out. I know it is a chain, but so is Wildfire and they have great steaks.

My husband received a $75 gift card for this place, so we decided we'd stretch it out and go for 3 family lunches instead of 1 family dinner. This was a great idea.

Their lunch menu is pretty vast - the salads were overpriced. The burgers and sandwiches ran around $8.50 each and come with a BOWL of soup AND homemade chips/fries + cole slaw. I ordered the mushroom burger. The burger was good, but not cooked to medium-well as I had requested. The soup was good and there was plenty of it.

At Around The Clock, across the street, you can get a sandwich/burger for about $8, but it doesn't come with fries or soup. That'll cost you an extra $2 and you only get a CUP of soup. The fries are not homemade there either.

The second time we went to Jameson's for lunch, I ordered a chicken/bacon/avocado sandwich and had the creamy mushroom soup. The soup was delicious. The sandwich was lacking the cheese that the menu said it was supposed to have on it and instead of a whole grain bun, it was served on bread. Don't get me wrong, the sandwich was delicious and the chicken was big and cooked perfectly....but the sandwich didn't come out "as advertised" in the menu.

My son got the kid's pizza both times...and my husband ate a piece each time and said it was really good for a kid's pizza. They also include a kid's take home plastic cup/straw and have goooood root beer that my kid loves. The kid's meal, I believe, was $4.95.

Around The Clock's kid's meals are about the same price and don't include a drink in the price and don't have cute/nice take home cups.

I like how they remodeled the old Bennigan's in the main dining area. Rustic stone, wood and a nice fireplace give a nice ambience and I always like a place where the kitchen is on display.

I say it's probably the best deal for lunch in the town....aside from making your own at home, of course. :)

My Hubby and I came here to celebrate a birthday. I had made a reservation and we were seated promptly. We'd been here once before and the place was packed but not so much midweek. Drinks came in a timely manner as we were seated in the bar. The French martini was bitter from the lemon garnish. All enters come with soup and salad - the soup (chicken "noodle" )was bland and the pasta choice was weird and doughy. The salad was good as it was mixed greens and not iceburg. I ordered the blue cheese crusted chopped steak which was greasy and nothing more than a burger sans bun - I won't order it again. My husband was very pleased with his strip steak and baked potato but left his brocolli.
Since Jimmy's Charhouse is at least 30 minutes away - this is a place we will go to again. I just wish they had a better entre salad selection.

I have only been able to get to Jameson's once since it opened & my wife and I loved it! The service was great & the steaks were perfectly cooked. I don't have too much experience when it comes to aged steaks, but I loved the New York strip I had.
To make it easy on the budget, they give you a free soup and salad before your main entree and a choice of potato with vegetables.
The atmosphere was very comfortable and welcoming...really liked the fireplace when you first walk in. To make it even nicer, the manager came to our table to see how our meal was & offered us a free after dinner drink on the house! Doesn't get much better than that! When we go back, I will definitely be trying the Halibut entree cause I have heard nothing but good things.
Jameson's is one of the only options when it comes to a quality steakhouse & it definitely satisfied.
I have also heard that their Friday fish fry is one the better ones going in the area...not that I would think of going to a steakhouse for a fish fry, but at least its an option.
We had our daughter with us the night we went and couldn't stick around for desert, so nothing to say about those yet.
Long waits on weekends, so make sure to make reservations.

Jameson's sign looks like an oyster, but you'll find no oysters here.  A puzzling start, and not a great sign.... literally.

I brought my nephew here for a well deserved 'nice place lunch'.  The waiter carded him for his beer, as expected, then shot me a weird look and said nothing as I asked for wine.  In California they card everyone now, no matter your age, which is sort of fun.

We ordered the garlic shrimp appetizer first.  It was mediocre.  The shrimp didn't taste fresh, like they'd missed the the first flight to Chicago after being 'shrimp boated'.  My nephew had the NY steak and enjoyed it a lot.  I had the Walleye Pike, being in the mid-west and wanting some lake fish, and it was very tasty.  Both deliveries by the waiter were maintained in the weird theme, quite theatrically. He gave me the evil eye and called Kyle 'young man', then later said 'Good boy, you finished all yours and can have dessert.' and shot me another look.  It finally dawned on me that this Snidely Whiplash look-a-like was treating me like I was a Cougar preying upon a poor defenseless  'young man', erzatz robbing the cradle.  Ick.  I wanted to write on the check "He's my nephew, you idiot.'

We decided to go to Fannie May's for dessert and bought a 1 lb. box of select favorites.

It may have been the best part of the meal.  I will go back however and give it another shot, as most of the issue was with service and shrimp to lazy to catch a red-eye.

Used to be Bennigan's...looks like they bought the building, furniture and everything from the previous owners because nothing seems to have changed besides the signs and the staff.

I had a "chopped steak" here for lunch the other day. It was topped with blue cheese and cost me $9. I had a hard time understanding why this "chopped steak" was different from hamburger, and so did my server. Probably won't try that again, but there were a lot of other choices on the menu that looked decent and the place was packed so there must be some good things on the menu.

Looking forward to going back and trying it again.
