Really chill vibe. Staff has always been friendly enough in my opinion. We've never ordered food, so we've never really needed anything more than the check after getting our drinks from the bar. Good selection of beers on tap. The live music can get REALLY loud, which makes it hard to hear the person sitting next to you.
Review Source:Food is awesome. Every time I've been to Jamian's, I've gone with a relatively large crowd (5+), and they are very accommodating. Before seeing a show at Count Basie one night, I went in with 7 people with 3 more meeting us and they actually made a table for us in an open space that wasn't being used (where the band usually goes). That's a plus in my book. Food is above average and I don't remember drinks being all that expensive. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is the service was a bit slow. I've really only gone on busier nights, but it's consistently slow. More than one server in the dining room would make sense to me.
Review Source:Good place to hear some great music but their service sucks. Â You'll be lucky if the waitress makes one round in the place once every hour...and every time we've been in there the bartender is never friendly. "What'da have?" no smile, no how are you, nothing....surly dude. Only ate once at the bar.....the calamari was way over priced and way over cooked.
Review Source:Great place to go for an awesome meal and drinks. Very chill atmosphere but more "upscale" than just a local dive. Very friendly bartenders and staff.
Food: Chicken nachos beyond delicious!!! Pulled pork sandwich, and crab mac and cheese are also phenomenal. Decent drink prices.
Definitely recommend to stop in to anyone!!
is it Jay-me-ans....or is it jah-my-ans? I was seriously hoping it is the latter. In my mind it was going to be this like hippy, real chill, comfy, repurposed art kind of decor....like I said in my head, that's what it was. Sadly, it was quite the opposite vibe. Too modern for me even with all the wood accents and "trendy" art.
A true mix of patrons, young to old, sweats to dressed up.
Beer selection pretty swell. Food was "eh" - we shared abunch of appetizers, our friends god the lamb and polenta - lamb yay, polenta nay. We shared wings and panko shrimp. To be honest everything tasted as if they were defrosted from costco, dips tasted as though they were out of a jar.
They had live music, the crowd loved it. It was loud and I'm sure you could have a reall great time here to party.
Id go back for a beer, that's about it. Not my style
great music (dead cover, reggae, ) . Â and very very loud
bar food - nachos are your best bet.. Â suggest eating some place else, and recommend teak.
my 1 big gripe.. and it irks me, the prices posted on the big blackboard aren't what rings up.. and if you question the staff (i did.. both waitress and bartender -- new guy), they say its been wrong for a month.
crowd tends to be 25 and 50 (Count Basie Theatre )
to bad they don't have wifi :-(
This is one of the few bars my friends & I frequent and we like it because they have decent draft beers (Stone, Dogfish Head, Carton) but there is just too many cons for me to give it a good rating:
-Food is really lackluster
-Drinks are EXPENSIVE. Some of the most basic drinks on earth they charge minimum $7 for - this is the kind of price you'd see somewhere in NY, not NJ.
-It gets loud later in the evening, so they decide it'd be a good idea to have a band play on a Saturday night when people are just trying to talk in an already crowded, loud bar.
-Service is slow and in some cases just plain irritating. Waitress asked if we wanted to open a tab so I gave her my card and later in the evening (2-3 hours later, many drinks later), I split the check with a friend and used a different card. I forgot to get my card back (for obvious reasons) from her, but she also never reminded me I had given her my card. I realize its busy in a bar with many kinds of customers over the night, but how could she ask if I want to open a tab and then forget she even asked? Â I called the next night and they couldn't find it). So it had to be cancelled.
I don't know if any good bars exist in the Middletown/Red Bank area. I thought Jamian's was one of the good ones, but over time, it's really just "meh." I wish someone would open a bar in the area that is reliable, has good drinks, and always good to be with friends there. (Oh yeah, Twin Lights Taphouse. Get well soon!)
Good resto-pub food
Very likeable draft list
Unapologetically gruff but helpful bartender
Dropped by on a Friday night before heading out on a fishing trip after seeing the 3.5 stars this place was getting, and I wasn't disappointed. Â The beer selection is a strength - not overwhleming, but a breadth of variety, including some solid craft stuff from around the US as well as some good concentration on local Carton. Â My buddy and I had no problems picking off new enjoyable brews to try through the night. Â For dinner, I had an appetizer and an entree special while my buddy had pizza, and each was A-OK.
We had no trouble getting seated at the bar at about 6:30, and we were able to get the bartender's attention throughout the night whenever we needed him. Â A band was setting up around 9-9:30 up front, and the place started filling in a little more, but still wasn't overly crowded. Â There was a nondescript but lively vibe.
This is the only spot I've tried in Red Bank, but unless I had a compelling alternative I wanted to hit up, I wouldn't hesitate to head back to Jamian's.
Great atmosphere! Â Band was super duper loud---could have turned it down a notch so my husband and I could have a conversation without yelling at each other. Wings are really good and the menu is solid with a vast selection of beer choices. We've been here a bunch of times and we will probably be back.
Review Source:Great beer selection, best in Red Bank, though that's not saying much. Â They now have great local beers, Kane and Carton, on tap. Â My most recent visit was during a Tuesday "game night," where they had a Super Nintendo with Street Fighter 2 for public use. Â I got my butt kicked. Â Maybe I should have used Chun-Li...
I see the complaints about how crowded, and how slow the service, can get at this place. Â Like any establishment, the timing can make-or-break your experience. Â To see this place at it's best, come for happy hour, a weeknight, or before the 10pm weekend crowd hits. Â Judge for yourself if you want to return when it's really thumping.
Came here for a light dinner before a show at the Count Basie Theatre. Â Appetizers were good, but it was all down hill from there. Â Took an hour for our food to be served, while people who came in well after us were served first. Â (We all ordered basic sandwiches and wraps--none of the main dinner entrees, so I have no idea what the hold up was.) Â And the food was not worth the wait. Â No live music when I was here, so I can't comment on the noise level as others have. Â Despite three waitresses coming over to give us refills and "check to see how we were doing," their promises of "your food is on its way" were incredibly frustrating, as we had a reservation two hours in advance of a show that was a block away.
Review Source:Having gone to college in Philly and now living there, I found myself at a bit of a loss when I wanted to find a bar near my hometown to hang out with an old friend. We walked around Red Bank (a bit) and this was the one bar that appeared to be hopping. It was a Friday night and it was certainly crowded - all tables were occupied as well as most of the floor space. Â I was glad to find a small but decent selection of craft beer (a must for me). Drawbacks were that it took awhile to get up to the bar in the crowd to order, and - as many others have said - the live music is so loud (probably because the space is fairly small) that my friend and I had to yell into each other's ears to converse.
I'd probably go back sometime if I knew there wasn't going to be a band and it was less crowded so I could get a seat at the bar.
On average you'll find good beer, great bartenders, and usually good food. The cons are spotty service when not at the bar, and the sometimes inconsistent quality. I like live music as much as the next guy, but when a band sets up here I usually ask for my check because you won't be able to hear a thing.
I've had some pretty good food over the past year here, but lately I've had to send a few things back for being overcooked (rib special that tasted like burnt charcoal, etc.). I'm hoping this place finds its consistency again. That, combined with the prices they charge for beer knocks it down to a 3 star for me.
Come for the beers, stay for the music.  Jamian's has a great selection of microbrew beers.  The atmosphere is great.  Always going here to catch a great local  band (ie Jeanne Westendorf, Matt O'Ree, Quicny Mumford, Random Test, and even Open Mic on Sunday nights.  If there isn't a band playing, there's always good tunes playing over the system.  The food is good too.  I like the chicken sandwich.  It comes with lots of tasty stuff on it.  They also host local artists, who hang their work here.  There's a different artist every month, so there's always something intersting to check out.
Review Source:The first time I went to Jamian's I was just tagging along with a few friends who were hungry and wanted to go to this place. It's just another bar in Red Bank, so I wasn't expecting anything of their food. Sure, the decor features art with a trendy vibe, bar stools in the center and a line of booths along the wall. However, when the food came out, I was more than surprised. It blew away all expectations. Crab mac & cheese is phenomenal.
(The only drawback to this particular trip was that the live band playing was beyond loud. Even if I yelled to my friends with their ears next to my mouth, they could barely hear me.)
I've been two times since (the atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the delicious food were enough to bring me back) and the second time there was no band. The third time the doors were open during the warm weather and I think that helped because the sound of the band was not as much of a problem. Plus it was nice experiencing the fresh air.
Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a drink and good food. This place is underrated.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Jamian's last week. Â My husband and I came for a little happy hour time on Friday. Â There were only two other people there when we walked in, but if did get more crowded while we were there. Â The bartender (I didn't get her name but wish I did) was friendly and knew a lot about their menu and the beers. Â She also gave us a free sample or two of drafts that we were considering and made some good suggestions. Â The beer menu was good, nice choices of some good craft beers. Â Most beers are bottled, but they do have 5 or 6 on draft. Â We also got the crab Mac and cheese. Â It was yummy! Â Lots of crab chunks, creamy, and served with little toasts for dipping...
Review Source:I came on a slow afternoon, so my experience may be different from other reviewers, but I came away impressed.
The bartenders and customers were all very friendly and I was very comfortable as a traveler stopping in for lunch. I had the fried, panko battered chicken sandwich that was absolutely delicious. The patron next to me ordered my second choice, the ahi tuna wrap, which he also declared delicious. Â And the homemade chips were perfect. Perfect! (and I consider myself a bit of a 'connoisseur' of potato chips).
The only knock against the place is the rather middling selection of beer. Really nothing at all notable on tap. Â Whip that one item into shape and you've got yourself a 5-star neighborhood hangout.
I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town.
Went in on a Wednesday night and the place was packed. Â They had a live reggae band that was very good. Â I wish I could give it more stars, but I was looking for a more chill place to hang out. Â Nothing against the establishment, but for a place that small and to have a band that up-close, I pretty much couldn't talk to my friend who was standing next to me. Â I would really like to come back here during a non-live-band night and check out their food as well.
Review Source:Open mic night on Sundays is def a great night.  There  our lots of local talent on display & a nice friendly vibe thru out the place with a lot of interesting people to meet. A  great alternative to Sunday night football for sure !. There is a TV on if you need to watch but you def wont hear it ( who cares) To much great music being played. It gets a little crowed on weekends but they rock the place with some really good bands. The food is hit or miss. You need to order food ig you want a table. Mostly good ( the duck ,lamb & kode beef) Ive had some great food and inedible nachos.  So i guess it s who is in the kitchen. Its NOT Basils for sure ( Best consistent food & place in town hands down) The bartenders and servers  are all very nice and are quick to serve as fast as they can & our very friendly unlike the owner who walks around with a certain arrogance which is hard to understand IS this his private club or  secret clique ? How about a hello a thank you? nothing  Other then that  its def one of our favorite places in town along with the Downtown Dannys & Basil's when we can afford it. .They sometimes are understaffed for the tables. But they try hard
A great transformation from Echo I hope he makes it . Its a great little spot. They just need to be a little more consistent on the food quality and keep the great music & art coming and tell the owner  to loose the attitude. Big improvement but your not the only game in town so stop acting that way
Great burgers here. I heard from several people in the area that they had a good burger and they were correct! The meat was cooked exactly to my order--raw and pink, the bun was fresh and soft, and the veggies were fresh and crisp. To top it off, they served it with freshly made potato chips.
They serve large, tall drinks at the bar as well.
