Good food. But it's like sitting in an ashtray and eating. Since Marion Co went smokeless all the smoking office people from the 96th and Meridian area come here. I'll never understand why they let people smoke in a bar. Only 24% of the adults smoke in Indiana. So they make 76% suffer. Contrary to what bar owners say it's bad for business.
Review Source:I'm not a smoker. So I feel like just walking in to Jimmy B's leaves me covered with soot and eau d'pub for the rest of the day.
On the other hand, somehow they manage to make REALLY GREAT bar food, and every once in a while, a person just needs a tenderloin.
In the warmer weather, they put a few tables out front, so you can take your casual business meeting or whatever and enjoy the world's biggest portions of yummy badness "on the patio".
My veterinary clinic is two doors down, and we have always had great experiences with the owners and staff. Very polite and accommodating if we need to borrow a can opener or something. We used to have a bench outside our place for clients, but the weekend partiers kept yakking all over it so we moved it inside. You'll have that.
Overall, a Home Place neighborhood institution.
I'm a routine patron of Jimmy Bs and overal I'm a fan. They do allow smoking inside, which can be bothersome at times, especially when I'm trying to eat. For a 'bar' I think their food is pretty decent: they are known for their Tenderloin, which is amazing. Most--probably a quarter to half--of their menu items contain some form of their Chili, so I wouldn't say they are too terribly diverse. The only item on their menu I've ever had disappointment in was their taco salad, which was actually more like an actual salad WITH chili (go figure) on top of tortilla chips -- I'd call it 'chili salad nachos'. As for the dress code, there is none. You can wear your best or your worst and no one judges. There's a couple pool tables always filled with the same 10 Asian kids, a couple claw machines that dispense porn, a couple mega touch machines, about 4 flat screen tvs, and a jukebox. It's always clean, the bathrooms are well maintained, the staff is relatively nice--some are awesome (Lindsay and Rob) and some just aren't, but no one has ever been rude to me and I always get what I ordered althought sometimes it can take a little while for the food. I have NEVER seen a fight, it's a pretty relaxing place so I'm not sure what people would be fighting about. It's not a party place, very low key. The crowd is diverse in ethnicity, age, and sex and everyone is very respectful of everyone else.
