JJ's Liberty Bistro

We have attended four wine dinners here and are never disappointed.  While you have to be adventurous with a fixed menu they will change due to any allergies...we always are amazed at the cooking and desserts.  A must-do event!

I've gone to both JJ's in the past and have been extremely satisfied - gread food and service.  I was extremely disappointed this time around when my husband and I both selected a prix fixe dinner at JJ's Bistro de Paris.  The menu reads as follows:
MENU SUD QUEST $30
Choice of Soup (French Onion or Vichyssoise), Choice of Entrees (Boeuf Bourguignon or Coq Au Vin), Choice of Dessert
Our server didn't disclose that "choice of dessert" excludes everything except cake.  JJ's has a great selection of desserts, which you walk past as you enter the restaurant.  At the end of our meal, we find out that most of those desserts do not qualify as "Choice of Dessert", so we each chose a slice of cake.  Imagine our surprise when we were each given a half-slice of cake!  Had we purchased the meal ala carte, the entree and appetizer would totaled $26, which means we paid $4 for a half slice of cake.  Had we known, we would have ordered our meals ala carte and split the dessert we wanted and it would have cost us the same.  In the interest of fairness in advertising, he server and/or menu should have specified that the choice of dessert was really a half-slice of cake.  I wouldn't have expected this type of bait and switch from JJ's.  :(

Went to JJ's Liberty Bistro and unfortunately, walked away unsatisfied and still hungry.  It's unfortunately because the atmosphere is nice and the decor cute and intimate.  It would have been a great local restaurant to go on a date night.  

We ordered a duck dish and a pork belly dish.  The portion of the duck dish was very small and tasted ok, but the pork belly dish was an over-priced chili with lots of beans mixed with bacon.
