Screen Door!
*clang*
Honestly, how many bars or places have a screen door? That deserves 3 stars right there.
In spite of being close, I only go sometimes. But I like the cozy eclectic atmosphere. Roger, the bartender who vaguely resembles Clay from The Sons of Anarchy, is nice and a huge film expert.
This isn't the place for foo foo drinks.
There's a very diverse crowd of regulars, people who wander in after a game, people killing time (all ages and it's very random).
They let you bring in food if you want and there's a jukebox.
The last visit a different bartender gave both me and my partner drastically wrong drinks. We just laughed after he walked away and drank.
I like it for it's kitsch and hopefully to talk to that guy about movies again. Play some stuff on the juke.
(by the way the listing for nearest L stop and the neighborhood are WRONG and have been forever. The nearest L stop is Addison RED and it's in LAKEVIEW. Screen Door! *clang!*)
This rating is based on it being a dive bar. Love all the bartenders, especially Roger. They have Blatz on draft for cheap, served in a frosty cold mug.
For being such a small place I never have trouble grabbing a spot at the bar. They also have a carry out license.
Their sign reads "Sorry, We're Open". Classic dive.
