I have been to pillars about five times now. Personally I think it was a great addition to the neighborhood because it's a more modern take on a coffee shop/diner hen what's available. along with the fact that they have some more humane/vegetarian options (I am not a vegetarian but I do appreciate social responsibility in businesses). An example is their cage free eggs. Their razorback Benedict's are my favorite breakfast dish and their spinach salad my favorite regular menu item. I have had one experience where the staff (seemed like the manager was a bit abrupt and seemed to be in a bad mood when I stopped in to buy a drink close to closing time, no returning your smile or even facially acknowledging any attempts to make funny comments in order to lighten the mood... he was like zero empathy holding my change with the expression of "I have no patience for this" but I only had that happen once and with that particular person. All other servers I had --maybe because it was earlier in the day?-- had always been polite and empathetic, sometimes a bit slow when you ask for something or they forget but that doesn't bother me as that is just human error not an attitude problem.
