I almost walked by this place. I just moved to the neighborhood and I was looking for a place to grab some lunch. Great Wall really is a hole in the wall and I was amazed at how fresh and delicious the food was.
I had the shrimp in black bean sauce and mooshoo pork. No sooner had I ordered than a man in the back began chopping fresh garlic and vegetables. The shrimp were huge and very fresh. The portions--I ordered smalls--were still huge. I had lunch and dinner the next day. I can't wait to try more menu items.
I had to wait a hot minute for my food but I would've waited even longer for it. This place embodies the idea that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. Go here for some mouthwatering fresh seafood the next time you're in Rogers Park.
Have had bland, cold yuck from here enough times to give up on it. Staff have been surly more than once, too. Not worth the trouble It's a shame there's no other Chinese places nearby but consider Rice Thai instead -- their care and preparation are like night and day compared to this place.
