Eh... It's a bar...has drinks...bar food. Even tho I hate the wk nite hrs (close at 11), I never considered this to be a place to go specifically for food. I go for drinks and if I happen to snack while I'm there so be it. I've only been a couple of times and once had an order of fries. They were the greasiest, waxiest fries I've ever had. Still I didn't think twice about it because it's a bar:-/

The place is decent, but somehow the atmosphere is too open, almost as if there once was karaoke or some type of live entertainment... It'd be nice if there were some cozier, more intimate areas...

Other than that, whatever, it's a basic bar...great place for meet-ups.

I just don't like this place. It has never been good. I gave it a few tries and now writing a review. I do not eat any other meat besides chicken so can't say anything about their burgers but the chicken sandwiches, quesadillas were just terrible!! I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. The restaurant is lean and that's all I noticed about it. Hate the food here. Never coming back.

Ashley the waitress sucks. Very uninterested, took a long time to bring drinks. $10 pitchers are a little pricey. Burgers were not made to order, definitely over done. Stale popcorn, old French fries, stale buns on burgers.
I was very disappointed. Especially after hearing they were the best burgers in town.
Finally, the place was freezing. I hate complaining, but thus place was one if the worst I've been.

Ah.good old Mr Joe's. In a nutshell, this is a place that will be packed with area office employees at lunchtime, some of whom will return after work to watch the game side by side with the locals/regulars.  If you haven't been in years, have no fear-the smoking ban has done this place well. You can now leave without smelling like a bowling alley-they've remodeled the whole place to ensure that much.
The food is about consistent for bar quality in the area - maybe a smidge better.  Service is decent and prices are okay.- If your expectations are not unreasonable, I would think a stop into Mr. Joe's would be a fine idea.

Cheap drinks. I like keeping this place in the mix. Not the greatest beer selection. Lots of big tvs, popcorn for every table.

I have had their coney dog and friend pickles. Delicious. Comes with Better made potato chips which is always a plus.

Interesting mix of people there. Old and young... Mostly old men but that is okay.  I like coming here when I don't want to be hit on by creepers and just meet someone for a drink.

Great place to watch a game, have some Bar food and have a beer. TV's line the restaurant. There is no place in the bar where you have a bad view of the game. Service is ok.

Awesome hamburger!  Delicious juicy to the point! I met a friend there for drinks and dinner and i guess Wednesdays are hamburger night specials. Had no idea.   I ran into a couple people i knew and they all ordered burgers as well.  Fries were also great and i heard from friends the coleslaw is fabulous but you have to ask for it because it does not come with your dinner.  Wow it looked it. I sat at the bar and the people sitting next to me were so loud at times, i could barely hear my friend talk.  Next time i'm in the mood for a burger you can bet i will be thinking about Mr. Joes.

Mr Joe's is what it is.....a burger bar.  Sure, throw in some chicken fingers or a reuben and you diversify the menu a bit, but it's still a burger bar.  They've always been pretty good burgers, though, and even though they don't serve the infamous Cherryburger anymore, the Piedmontese is a pretty decent replacement if you're trying to avoid fat grams equalling your age.  I haven't been there in times other than lunch hour for years so I can't attest to what it's like then, but for a decent burger at a reasonable price in a comfortable environment that's close enough to be back at work by 1:00p, it's my first choice.  (Now if Miller's was only closer.....)

Departing from my normal Fancy Breakfast Thursday (FBT) routine, my friend Jeremy M. suggested having lunch (FLT?) at Mr. Joe's, mostly in that it's within walking distance from his apartment. Without other options presenting themselves, I figured why not? Plus there was rumored to be popcorn.

I arrived at Mr. Joe's precisely at 1:00 pm. and was amazed at the busy lunch crowd. After holding the door for what must have been a party of twenty (just think, 4 Scott Wolfs! If only, if only. . . ) I entered what I found to be a quintessential American sports bar with an intimate lighting scheme. The room was flanked with some large televisions showing Little League championships (Japan vs. Curaçao) and a few smaller monitors for Keno.

Menus were on the table and popcorn was provided upon request. The best part was double ketchup! There were two bottles of Heinz (every American's fantasy, right?) in the caddy along with an assortment of mustard. Jeremy ordered the "cold plate" which had scoops of tuna salad, chicken salad, and cottage cheese and was served with pita, packaged crackers, and tomato slices. After making fun of his selection (the way good friends do) I ordered my grilled cheese (on Texas Toast) with fries. I also had a coffee which seemed extra fancy since it was served in a glass mug--our server totally joked with me saying, "We're nothing but first class here." I loved it.

Our food was presented in a small amount of time. Jeremy's plate looked as I expected, though he maintains it's delicious. My grilled cheese was basically perfect and the shoestring fries were the ideal accompaniment. Sometimes bars over salt things and these were not at all, bonus point for Mr. Joe!

All in all, I would say this was a pretty decent lunch. I was amazed that with tip I was just over $11.00 which is pretty reasonable for lunch. I am curious about their pizza so maybe I'll have venture out again--I know Jeremy's a fan since he can breeze over from his apartment. Also worth noting, the bar was stocked with many a flavor of Three Olives and Pinnacle vodkas--another bonus point for Mr. Joe.

When we left Japan was beating Curaçao 5-0. What an exciting lunch?!

I went to Mr. Joe's on a first date a few days ago. I'd been there once before, a long time ago. It looked competely different.

    Here's the breakdown:

The Good: They've completely remodeled the place. Leather booths, flat screen tvs, the whole shebang. It's really nice. Our server was friendly and competent.

The Bad: The bar primarily caters to a middle aged crowd; this isn't necessarily a bad thing, just not my scene. There was 2 or 3 different sports on tv.  No music.

The Food: Meh. We split potato skins as an appetizer. They were good, nothing special. I had a California reuben (turkey reuben, for those unfamiliar), and fries. It was ok. Not great, not terrible. Just ok.  Beer was on special for $2/bottles, which made me happy.  The pricing was decent.

Overall, it was ok. I probably wouldn't go back.

I have to say this newly remodeled location is a good place to watch a game or find a weekday special.  There are plenty of TVs and a good size menu.  The food is middle of the road so I wouldn't come here looking to be blown away.  The service is always good and so is the beer.

I don't find myself in Southfield too often, so when I found myself around 12 & Telegraph with some time to kill, I turned to my trusty Yelp app to show me what was good.  I saw that I was a block away from Mr. Joe's, and that was good enough for me.  I really should have checked the reviews more carefully first though, because the string of mediocre ratings was exactly indicative of what I got.

A Monday night at 6:30 and the parking lot was full - I think "sweet, this must be the place to be!"  It is - for the middle aged+ bar fly crowd.  Not pretty.

Happy hour, featuring $1 off most drinks, runs 3-6.  I had just missed it.  Ordered a bottle of beer and a black & bleu burger done medium.  The burger was very good, and is served with a bag of Better Maid chips. Ran about $8, which was more than I felt it was worth but whatever.

I don't even know what else to say to finish this review.  It's just kind of boring there.  The bar staff were all middle aged career barmaids...but unfortunately none of the friendly chatty kind, but rather the "I hope you're done, cause here's your bill...I'm gonna go have a cigarette now" kind.

Wasn't the worst but I won't go back.

Good place to watch a game.  Tons of TVs.  Didn't eat.  Beer was cold and cheap.  Service was okay.  Free popcorn for us cheap asses.

Last night was my first time at Mr. Joe's for food. I already want to go back. We came for Burger Night, $3.50 for a burger and fries, and of course, in true Rachel fashion, I decided I didn't want a burger. I asked the waitress what she thought about the "Slim Joe". A take on the classic Big Boy Slim Jim. She didn't sound that excited about it but I went ahead and ordered anyway. How can you mess up ham, cheese and Slim sauce anyway? It came to the table and immediately I knew I would be happy. I have to say, in 100% honesty, it is BETTER the then Big Boy Slim Jim. Apparently at Big Boy they have a new supplier for their buns and they are horrible. I found my new place for my Slim Jim fix.

Not a bad place.  Nothing too special about the place.  The free popcorn was a nice touch, the burgers are good and the beer is cold.  I sat a the bar and had good service from the bartender.  Overall, the atmosphere was pretty good too so it is worth stopping by for some pub food and/or beer.

Pretty cruddy service started when they wouldn't seat us until entire party was there despite the fact that the place was near empty.  When we did get seated our waitress pretty well ignored us.   One of my lunchmates got her food about 20 mins before the rest of us and they screwed up another's order.  They won't split bills either if you are in a group.

I visited Mr. Joe's for the first time last night. It's was good. The building and interior are nice and very clean but maybe lack a little character. The waitress that we had was nice, but not overly friendly or informative.

The best parts were the free popcorn, delicious burger, and reasonable prices. But no drink specials on the weekend.

The menu is simple. Your basic bar appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, and pizza. Both my meal and my friends were good. All the food we could see coming out for others also looked good.

Lots of big screen TVs for sports viewing.

All in all, an A-OK place.

Good food for a good price. I had the southwestern chicken sandwich and it was excellent. The burger was good, too. Great spot for lunch or to catch a game.

Mr. Joe's used to be a dump.  There is no way you would take your mother there and probably not your father either.

However, they have completely remodeled - floor to ceiling, exterior to interior.  You wouldn't know it was the same place except for the location, the name, and the popcorn.

You pull up and you think you're at a Barnes and Noble or J. Alexander's due to the new facade.

You walk in and you see a great dining room/bar with wood floors, nice (leather?) booths, plenty of flat screen tvs, etc.

You sit down and they bring you a basket of popcorn.  The menu has burgers, sandwiches, salads, and pizza.  That's right - even salads and a nice assortment at that (6+).

And you think, wow this place really isn't a smoky, dirty, dump anymore.

On to the food.  Both of us ordered the Mr. Joe's burger ($5.95), which is what they're supposedly known for.  "Half pound, ground round, cooked to order served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle."  Plus a bag of Michigan's own Better Made potato chips.

Ordered my burger medium and it came out medium rare (if not even a little rarer than that).  Now I typically give a restaurant some leeway as I know it isn't always easy to nail that part of the order, but when it is your signature item, you should be able to do better.

To top it off, the burger was really greasy.  Now I like a little fat with my burger as much as anyone else - after all, I didn't order the lo-cal plate.  However, this was really, really greasy.

The lettuce is chunk - they obviously use the same in their salad.  Tomatoes good.  Onion - white.

Also ordered a side salad ($2.75) which had lettuce, tomato, and cucumber.  Greek dressing was creamy/good.  Solid side salad, but can't believe I've written this many characters about it.

So the moral of the story is that if you're looking for a burger, go to Brady's or JJ Fatt's, etc. instead.  If you're looking for a nice, modern, sports bar where you get free popcorn, go to Mr. Joe's.

Mr. Joes is completely remodeled and has a new larger menu.  Still great for a burger but they added many options to the menu. Still a fan; but remember this is a sports bar and not a high end dining establishment.  Great TVs for sports and Keno.

I had a pretty good lunch experience here... much better now that Michigan has a no smoking policy. I've been here before and it was so smoky that it was hard to enjoy a meal.

I wasn't in the mood for a burger, so I had the fish sandwich instead. It was suprisingly good! The best part of the meal was that it was less than $10 for my sandwich, onion rings, and a coke.

There are televisions everywhere and it's somewhat loud. I'd suggest being careful when leaving because it's super dark inside compared to how bright it is outside. You get blinded when you open the door to leave!!

Mr. Joe's is a good burger place.  They do have a lot of plasmas and two projection TVs going so it's easy to watch the game from anywhere.  The seating is tight but if you go during the week, many times the place is dead.  They have specials on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at the time of this review.

Mr. Joe's used to have a "fixin's tray" that used to come out with the burgers.  It had plenty of pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato, etc so you could build your own burger.  For some reason they don't do that anymore... however the cherry burger is still quite tasty and one of their best.

I like Mr. Joe's for the central location to the big roads.  On 12 Mile near Northwest Highway, it's easy to get to from all around w/ I-696 and Telegraph nearby.

They have Golden Tee here and Club Keno if you are looking for some other diversions besides the games on TV.

Mr. Joe's is known for a lot more than it's restaurant, although the food is pretty good (try one of the Michigan cherry burgers). It's a great place to grab lunch and/or watch some sports on the wide-screen televisions. But what's even better is coming here around Christmas time. Why? Well, Mr. Joe's goes all out for the holidays and is adorned with thousands of lights. You can't miss it coming down the street!

Mr. Joes is a pretty average bar. Unlike a chain bar/restaurant like Chili's, Applebees, etc., the dining area and bar are all in one large room. While the do have a number of quality HD televisions, the room is rather crowded to fit as many tables as possible.

I found the environment uncomfortable for eating a meal. If you go just to drink with your friends and watch a game, it is probably a sufficient environment. And like many bars, it is rather smoky.
