John Purdue Room

One of my family members (who has a serious food allergy) had a business/casual lunch at the John Purdue Room in early July. The restaurant was told days in advance about the allergy and the servers seemed to be aware of it. However, the communication from the servers was conflicting and at times contradictory (first they said the food is free of the allergen, then no, and then yes again). As a result (and a trip to the emergency room later), a week's worth of work was missed. We were told that the food (if you could eat it) was not bad, though.

We did contact the people in charge of the restaurant. They offered an "apology," claimed they would improve their communication, and offered us a free meal (which we declined).

We understand that the John Purdue Room (part of Purdue HTM) is a place where future restaurant/hotel managers are trained, so mistakes are not inevitable. However, because this is a teaching environment (where comments should be valued and factored into future instructions), it is doubly disappointing that our comments were not taken as seriously as they should have been.
