I really wanted to like the place. It's in a cool old building, smells great, has a really interesting setup and the beer wasn't bad at all.
However, the head brewer is a complete jerk. We went here, ordered some beers and got to talking. I went up to him as he was sitting at the bar to as a quick question about their brewery. His response was "I don't brew here."
Thanks chief, if you don't want to talk, that's fine but don't lie to me.
I won't spend another dime here.
Rhodell is filled with fine hand crafted ales, ranging from lighter fare for the un-intiated to complex, and often high ABV, brews on the other end. Â The brewmaster certainly has a special knack for belgian style and scottish style ales. Â The place has a feel of the old whiskey warehouse it is in, that is down to earth, and quality product inside. Â Its truly a gem of Peoria.
For those of you who may bring guests that don't like beer, or like good beer, they keep a small selection of domestics, ciders, and shmirnoff's for such an occasion.
As far as food goes, peanuts and pretzels for bar snacks and Butch's pizza for food. Â You are welcome to bring in food from elsewhere though.
Finally, there are board games, card games, pool, and even Jenga to keep yourself occupied if you please.
Worst service ever. Â Some people seriously have attitude problems. Â The Bartender took forever to get to, gives me the worst look and starts yelling at me when I asked for something to drink. Â I brought in my friend's drink since he wanted something from Kelleher's with the street festival going on and getting a little lost with this being my 1st time at the Peoria bars... Â but instead of someone telling me straight up what was wrong, the bartender decides to yell and swear me off.
