Ummm am I missing something here people? I've heard for so long that Jug Handle had the best wings around, so naturally I was pretty psyched when I finally had the opportunity to try them. Â Well, either they have been severely over-hyped and my expectations were too high, or they just aren't that good, but they fell short for me. Â I think this is another classic example of "big" being mistaken for "good." Â The wings are really nothing to write home about. Â I was disappointed in the sauce too. Â The medium was more like mild, and the mild was basically drawn butter.
I also find it incredibly unnerving that there are chickens running around the premis. Who wants to look at their dinner frolicking and thinking all is right with the world??
Decent beer list, but that's where it ends for me.
A New Jersey stereotype in action. Â Tons of greased up guys coming to pound happy hour wings and beers. Â Happy hour runs until 6 PM and patrons take full advantage, so you have the oddity of showing up at 5:30 to a packed bar and looking around at 6:05 at an empty bar.
Wings are good, but I was disappointed since they were billed by many of my fellow New Jersians as "the best ever". Â Beer list was decent but not great and was mostly bottles, other than the standard macro-fare.
I might come back for wings on an NFL Sunday, but don't think I would go out of the way to come here.
The best wings!
Can't even count how many times I've been there over the past ??? years, (damn I'm getting old). The ribs are really good too.
Be careful, the hot wings are pretty "gosh-darn-diddilly" hot.
Personally, I get the wuss wings.
Usually a beer special of some kind as well as "The new fad drinks".
Also an outdoor bar and an extra bar room downstairs. If it's really crowded, check downstairs.
Almost forgot, Good burgers, and all this is available for takeout.
If you're in a hotel near RT. 73 this is the place!
Take the Jug for what it is, don't expect a super clean and classy evening and you'll have fun.
The place itself is fine they has an upstairs bar and a downstairs bar for the younger crowd. Downstairs they have a separate sit down room for smokers that is closed off from the rest of the bar. They have a pool table, darts and trivia.
The bathrooms are kind of uncomfortable but the writing on them is pretty hysterical.
But if you're just looking for a place around the area that has good bar food I think hanging out upstairs and eating wings would be a decent time.
My girlfriend and I love going to the Jug Handle Inn! The wings are by far our favorite item on the menu to get. It is almost impossible for me to go to the Jug and not get wings. I love mixing sauces, the BBQ/Extra Hot/Garlic combo is out of this world! I never had anything on the menu that wasn't good. The drink prices are fair if not generous. Everyday they have really good specials. You can't beat the half priced wing special during happy hour. This would be an easy 5 star rating if their service improved. I would say about a third of the time they do not send me my correct order of wings, but they are so damn lucky that the wings are sooooo good that I don't even complain. Service can be lengthy as well. The owners are very nice people and are very proactive. It is a really good establishment, they just really need to improve on their service.
Review Source:The first time I went to the Jug, I had to wait for a chicken to walk out of a parking spot before I could park my car... I think that says so much about the feel of this place. And that's what's so great about it :)
But the wings are also amazing. I've had hot, BBQ, hot honey, hot garlic... They're all great, but my hands down favorite is the hot garlic. It's not a sauce that you see too often and it's really really good.
There are always a bunch of great beer specials too.
And my favorite thing about the Jug is the gazebo, although it seems like it's never open! It's so nice to sit out there, relax, and have a beer on a summer night.
My friend raved about the wings at the Jug Handle Inn...so last night we made the trek from Havertown, PA to Cinnaminson, NJ so I could try them out.
They did not disappoint. These are 5-star wings.
We had the honey BBQ and medium buffalo. Both sauces were superb. The buffalo was not as vinegary as other buffalo sauces I've had. Would have liked a touch of heat from a medium sauce, these were closer to mild. Either way, delicious. The honey BBQ were amazing. Sweet, savory, I'd go back today and eat them again if my digestive system could handle it.
The chicken was cooked perfectly...crispy skin, juicy meat. It doesn't get any better. Also these wings are not tiny, they are a nice size.
Service was great...they lose a star for the club music that was blaring in our ears...on a Wednesday night...with nobody dancing. But...wing connoisseurs should not and will not be deterred by something as trivial as loud music. This is but a small price to pay.
Speaking of small prices...order after 10pm and wings are half price...amazing deal for these top notch wings.
Go to the jug handle, get the wings, and enjoy! But if you're traveling from a distance, be warned that your neighborhood wing places might not seem so great anymore when you compare them to those at the JH Inn.
My boyfriend and I are huge wing buffs and he's always hearing about the Jug Handle on sports radio. Â I grew up nearby the Inn but never made it inside so we decided to check it out for some New Year's day wings and beer. Â
The decor is fine enough -- it's nothing fancy. Â A dive bar and I'm totally fine with that. Â
We ordered 20 wings (because he just HAD to have some to take home) in the hot honey bbq and regular hot. Â They were delicious. Â Very nice size. Â And I loved the extra crisp they had to them. Â I might venture to say the hot was actually a little TOO hot for my tastes -- one of those weird hots that doesn't hit you at first and then a few minutes later your lips are numb from being aflame. Â
I ordered a Bronco burger, medium. Â It was slightly overcooked -- which was fine. Â More of a medium-well to well done but it was still delicious. Â Juicy. Â The bun was soft and fresh. Â We also ordered spanish fries which I thought were delicious. Â There were also tons of drink specials yesterday -- huge plus.
The reason I've deducted 2 stars, and debated on deducting more, was simply because my bartender was absolutely terrible. Â It took her 10 minutes to acknowledge us at all -- fine. Â When we first arrived it was a bit busy. Â We ordered drinks -- my b/f a Lager and me a Bass (the special). Â She bitched slightly about the Bass being "downstairs," so being the understanding person I am, I went with a $5 pitcher of Miller Lite and asked for a food menu. Â She told us to order a tab she had to hold on to a card, so we gave her a card and waited another 10 minutes for her to come back. Â She opened the tab and my boyfriend asked again for a food menu. Â Another 10 minutes, as she ran past me, I yelled for another food menu. Â This is the first time she smiled or showed any kind of hospitality-appropriate attitude. Â She took our order. Â Food came. Â Another 25 minutes or so for her to come back to us. Â With plates piled up in front of us, we asked for boxes and the check. Â She brought back some boxes and then another 20 minutes later, she finally closed the check. Â Awful service. Â Simply awful. Â I don't like having to wait 15 minutes for every request to be fulfilled -- ESPECIALLY when the bar begins to empty out. Â Her shitty attitude didn't help. Â I believe her name was Francis.
I've had poor service cause me to leave 1 star before, but since the food and specials were on point, I couldn't go there.
Went here for the first time yesterday for some wings and football, and they did not disappoint! Â The Hot Honey extra crispy wings with a side of Bald Eagle sauce may just be the best wing combo I have EVER had!
Staff was really friendly and attentive and the other patrons were awesome... great football watching crowd!
I can't wait to go back...
I grew up near this place so I've been going here since I've been old enough to drink (over 30 years now as the drinking age in NJ was 19 back then). This was the first place in the area that served that exotic offering known as buffalo wings. They were hot, crispy and greasy and I loved them and still do. The people who were running the kitchen at the time bolted some time around 1990, but the wings are still pretty much the same as they were back then. The place was a dive and still is, but the people who bought this place a few years ago cleaned it up a little. They also brought in waitress service (you used to have to order every thing from the bar, even if you were sitting at a table) and it's no longer cash only.
I still go there on occasion after work when I meet some friends on Wednesday nights. Most bars are dead on Wednesday, but not this place. Sometimes it is hard to get a table, but usually we can get one. When I drive by it on weekend nights the parking lot is overflowing. I wouldn't consider going there on a Friday night.
There are two bars. The downstairs one has a pool table and quoits. Wednesday night is pool league night so we always sit upstairs. The upstairs is brighter on summer evenings as there isn't much in the way of windows downstairs. There is an outside gazebo bar during the summer, but you'll become a meal for the mosquitos out there. The gazebo doesn't have wings, but you can get steamers there.
I always try to get there before 6 pm because the wings are half price until then. After 6 on Wednesday they have Yuengling specials. But since I get there before 6, I usually start with a Guinness. They just might be the cheapest pint of Guinness in South Jersey. The pour you'll get depends on the bartender. One guy there pours a great pint, but most of them are a little impatient with it, and you might get a two-finger head on it.
We always sit at a table. We always get good service, but since we are semi-regulars the waitresses know us. The regulars who sit at the bar tend to shout to one another, which can be annoying, but they are friendly. I've never seen a fight there.
Of course I always get the wings. They are good but they are not consistent. I've had mediums that kicked my butt, and hots that were too easy to eat. But its gotten better with the latest owners. The milds aren't hot at all, just greasy. I avoid the "bald eagles" (super hot), but those I know who love really hot wings like them. The garlic wings are awesome, lots of garlic piled up on them. I only eat them when my wife is out of town on business because you'll stink up the house when you go home. The size of the wings are inconsistant too. Sometimes they are a good size, other times they are scrawny. My friends sometimes get other things besides wings, and usually they are satisfied with what they get.
If you like greasy, crispy wings, a dive bar atmosphere, and cheap pints of Guinness, then you'll probably like the Jug. Don't let the roosters in the parking lot scare you off.
I have heard so many great things about the hot garlic wings at the Jug that when I finally had the opportunity to try them for myself I jumped at the chance. Â This place is every biker's dream, or at least if I was a biker that's what I would say. Â I'm pretty sure I was the only one in the bar to order a craft beer (and when I did they had to get it from the basement - this doesn't happen often). Â Anything other than a miller light with your meal is out of the ordinary here but it's a great place to watch whatever game is on that day if you are lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar.
Pricing is great, wings were everything I hoped for and more, and the service is quick. Â Everyone sitting around us was very friendly too, no matter how rugged most of them were, so don't be quick to judge if this isn't your usual hangout!
Note: The first thing I noticed before walking in? Â Chickens and roosters walking around the parking lot!
Hi, Yelpers,
Sunday date with the hunny, and he suggested to check out that place that we saw on Food Network's "The Best thing I ever ate" ... he wanted wings! (I love my hunny but he's gonna turn into a chicken wing one day! tee hee)
Well, let me just say, that the service was nice, timely, and friendly. Â The locals were very welcoming and "spirited". Â The Phillies game was on several of the TV screens placed everywhere so that all could see. Â The drink specials were GREAT. Â And Guinness on Tap??? Oh boy ... what are the wings like, right?
Wings were fried nice and crisp, and the sauce .... sorry I was drooling on my computer a bit ... I got the honey BBQ sauce and it is by far, one of THE BEST sauces I have tasted in a long time. Â Actually, I liked it so much I asked if they sold the sauce. Â Can you imagine my elation when they said yes? Â :D Â
The wings were a nice size, not those baby wings that you wonder "where is the meat?". Â And we shared some "Jug Spicy" fries, which were also hot, crisp, and well seasoned.
The Jug Handle is on a big property, so they have an outside chill out area overlooking a crick (y'all Philly folk know what I mean!), and a Gazebo bar with live music that I would like to check out for a next time. Â There is a bar downstairs too, apparently, and we watched 2 guys pull up their lil' raft boat and come in for a drink!
I definitely enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, the good eats, and the drink specials.
So, Go head, cross the bridge, Yelpitos, and find yourselves a nice spot at the bar at the Jug Handle.  Maybe you will see me there because I would really enjoy going back  for some more wings, sauce and yes, Guinness on Tap, baby!
The Bald Eagle wings are the spiciest wings I have ever eaten in my life. With that said, I absolutely love it and come back just to satisfy my bald eagle cravings. I've also had their fries and ribs. The ribs were nothing to write home about.
There are specials everyday and the prices are pretty fair. Wings are half off during happy hour Monday through Thursdays. Clearly, I try to make it to as much of those as possible.
The service is so-so. I've sat at the bar a few times and received good service from the bartenders. As for the waitresses, they are generally very slow (even when it's not crowded) and always somehow mess up my order. One time, a waitress charged me for my food AND the table next to mine. Luckily, I checked and noticed the additional items that were not mine. I may stick to eating at the bar in the future just to avoid the waitresses. They also tend not to check up on your table, which also means they don't refill my water and/or beer when I'm dying from the bald eagle wings.
Just take note, this place is a dive bar so don't expect anything fancy.
Gets 2 stars because of  potential alone.  I went here twice on the same day.  First time at sat at the gazebo bar.  I knew something was wrong as I only saw a portable deep fryer and knew the "renowned wings" couldn'tt come from that.  I asked the rude bimbo behind the bar if food was available and she said yes and handed me a menu.  No wings on the menu.  I asked about wings and bimbo responded that I couldn't get them there.  Ok, so I was dumb not to see the main indoor bar at the far end of the parking lot, but I was not thinking positively about the place already.
Main bar was nice, the bartenders in here were great and the wings were very good and steaming hot. Â It was early afternoon and not busy, but I was very happy and decided to leave and come back later that night.
Place was packed later with seemingly an over abundance of big mouth jersey people who seemingly cant carry on a conversation without screaming. Â One of the bartenders from the afternoon, Â and now was a patron was one of these obnoxious people screaming at the top of her lungs. Â The wings took 40 minutes to arrive and were stone cold and nowhere near as good as 4 hours earlier. Â A cheesesteak I ordered was inedible...80% roll, skimpy amount of meat. Â If you plan on having more than one beer, order them all at once because it will be a long time until the bartenders pry themselves away from talking with friends to refill your glass.
The first wings I had were good enough to give this place another try. Â It would be a shame if this place is like my second visit most of the time.
This is our go to spot when I am in the Maple Shade/Cinnaminson area. We usually hit the Jug for a late night drink and something greasy to eat. Â It is a great local bar with excellent food. Â The younger crowd usually hangs out down stairs. It is a smaller bar area but there is a pool table, TV, and shuffle board. Awesome place to hang out with friends and get banged up. Â The upstairs usually have the "regulars" and locals looking to relax at the bar or table and enjoy the atmosphere. The service is great, awesome bartenders. Â The food is top notch for bar food. Everything is made to order and comes out HOT. Fries, wings, burgers, sandwhichs...its all good...check this place out if you want to have a couple drinks, watch a game, and have a good time...
Review Source:Saw this place on Best Thing I Ever Ate on the Food Network for their wings so after hitting up the mall took the trek out to have some. Â Awesome drink specials- wow too bad it's over the bridge.
Got 20 wings to share and a small fries. Â Fries were great- tasted like the boardwalk. Â Now the wings- deliciously fried, cripsy and juciy all at the same time. Â The perfect cooking HOWEVER they were sitting in a very thin hot sauce, not an actual Buffalo sauce like I had been expecting (Think Anchor Bar style). Â Definitely a disappointment on the sauce. Â We also got the garlic which were tastier but only because it actually had a taste to it. Also the Yelp check in helped with 50% off!
If it wasn't in Jersey AND I brought my own wing sauce I would go back but since it is and I dont typically carry wing sauce in my purse (well sometimes) guess I wil chalk it up to good fried wings!
Sadly if you asked me YESTERDAY this would have been 4 stars for their wings. That's all changed. Tonight we got 10 hot and 10 medium grease wings. No flavor... Just orange margarine. The owner deducted one order of 10 from our bill, saying they forgot to stir the sauce. What? Stir the damn sauce dude. You're renowned for your wings! They put you on food network! Stir the SAUCE! We won't be going back, which sucks because we used to look forward to it. It'll be chickie and petes or dadz for us from now on!
Review Source:Here we go again--- I'm sitting at the bar again. This time is different though, I'm in fried food heaven with 20 wings, a small panzarotti, sweet potato fries that are smothered in honey sauce and a few beers to wash it all down. The locals at The Jug preserve the come as you are attitude that rule this bar. Sports fans can zone in on the game from any of the TV screens. If one TV isn't in focus rest-assure there's another view at a different angle. One warning: 99% of patrons bleed for the Philly teams but eh, rivals can grab a seat too.
Order seconds at The Jug since there is PLENTY to choose from: monster burgers ($7-8), 7 variations of fries, Buffalo wings ($7-$15), baby back ribs ($12-$20) and the starters menu has so much gluttony to choose from that the heart-attack is well-worth it.. Ahhhh yes, this is one of my favorite Jersey dive bars. The food is great, greasy and goes down well with a cold drink. Service is on point and served with a smile.
Leave your dancing high heels at home, a dance floor isn't here but girly girls and hot guys are still welcome and roam the bar. At the game's half-time, rock and country music play on the jukebox, ironically one hit is Bruce Springsteen. Oh yeah, I'm feelin' the Jersey spirit!
Haven't been to this spot in a hot minute but always loved it.
Me and friends used to frequent the basement and always enjoyed banter with Chris and Zack (bartenders) and a decent beer. Food has always been good -- I've never done the wings, believe it or not bu tthey make the BEST BLT I've ever had the opportunity to eat. :)
The outdoor bar in the summer has grilling goin' on just like in your own backyard, without all the work. Check it out!
Apparently Kevin S. doesn't value three star reviews with some qualification. Â After his snide comments (BABY SIZE KEEPS DOWN COST DOWN - what dude? How about an ADULT size like every pub around here for $6?) on my THREE STAR (i.e. - A-Okay) review, forget it. Â This place has clearly defined itself as garbage. Perhaps make a comeback for those that rated you a one or two star instead of going after those that didn't completely pan your good for nothing run of the mill establishment.
Review Source:The Jug Handle Inn serves it's purpose! It's purpose is to feed you some tasty wings and cheap beers!
I don't mind the atmosphere, it's not like I walked in expecting gold plated barstools and mother-of-pearl coasters. It was clean, they let the two of us sit at a long bar table made for 6, most restaurants make you move to accommodate "bigger parties"
$2.25 Yuengling on tap ( this is great because it's hard to find Yuengling on tap in Boston where we moved from )
My husband is addicted to wings, he thought they were "just great" and put away 20 of them, and could probably do more.
I ordered my wings "dry" with delectable Honey-Hot sauce on the side to dip myself, and my traditional "Liar's Salad", side house salad, which was fresh and did it's job of making me feel better about eating deep fried crunchies
We just moved to Mount Laurel and I think we've tried most wings in the area, these were definitely awesome, thumbs up :)
ps. I love seeing the chickens running wild and crazy around the property when we pull up
The Jug Handle Inn has the best wings in South Jersey. A bold statement, I know, but it's true! Â I realize it's a dive bar, don't take children, but the crowd isn't bad. Â The hot honey wings are my favorite but others are great too. Â I have even tempted fate with the bald eagle wings, they taste great but are extremely hot. After eating them prepare for your stomach to hate you.
I do have to mention the service is terrible. Â I have had problems getting beer quick enough to cool my mouth so order plenty or go to the bar. Â One time the waitress lost the order, she entered it again but it took forever to get my food that night. Â The wings are sooo good that this doesn't bother me.
Pro tip: Order the wings grilled. Â It's not on the menu because it's a pain for them to do but they cook and then grill them for even more crunch.
Crowded? Yes.
A dive? Meh, if you're going to be a snob about it.
The best deal on a pint of Guinness in the area? Hell. Yeah.
If you don't mind not being able to hear the person sitting right next to you or getting a little inventive when it comes to finding both a seat and a parking spot, then you'll have nothing to complain about at the Jug Handle.
The cheap booze is worth jostling for a place to stand, the food satisfies the drunk munchies like nothing else, and there is just such a great atmosphere to this place. I'm always a fan of hanging out on deck whenever the temperature allows, but the bar has plenty to offer inside, too.
If not for the ominous graffiti tags across the street, I'd definitely spend more time here.
I have been served here since I was about 17. Love, love, love this place.
Please don't waste your time coming if you're going to look down on jeans, tshirts, and maybe no shirts. This is a bar, with alcohol, wood stools and some booths upstairs, and some kick azz wings. That's it. Nothing fancy, just good times to relax.
The food network has recently given koodos to the Jug too.
Woohoo! Grab some wings.
I haven't been here in a couple years, but in its day, it was a great dive bar where a lot of off-duty cops hung out. Â The prices, obviously, are dirt cheap to match the decor. Â
Just a warning: I've witnessed several tense moment where a large, angry drunk was about to fight someone. For me, that's a plus but for others, not so much.
The Jug may not be for everyone, but I've been there plenty of times and have always had fun. Â The second time I went the bartender had two different particular beers in his hand in two seconds. Â He remembered what my friend and I had the prior time there, which I found amazing, considering the crowds they get. Â I don't know much about upstairs, except live music on weekends, etc. Â
Downstairs, ...one pool table..you need to put your name on a chalk board to establish your turn in the rotation...winner stays on. Â Most of the locals who play there are good fun. Â Sometimes a little tough playing shuffle board when it's real busy, because it's in a high-traffic alley next to the bar...and the later the night gets, the less inclined the patrons are to move for ya.
But like I said, good old fashioned, no frills, drinking bar with great wings, which is just the scene I like to blow off steam.
Welcome to a no-b.s. New Jersey bar (it doesn't get more NJ than a jughandle). Â You might find an awesome blues band upstairs, and you'll always find table shuffleboard & billiards downstairs. Â During the summer, there's an outdoor bar area with plenty of shade. Â Cheap drinks, friendly service, lots of parking.
Review Source:The Inn sports lots of rooms and multiple floors (we gathered downstairs for a birthday celebration). Our bartender's (Ed) service was excellent - he flagged our friend after he had too much to drink, kept everyone watered, and the cleared the tabletops often.
They do shots and bomb shots too. I tried some of a Washington Apple shot (smooth and sweet) and someone did a Jagerbomb with me. The most expensive shot set me back $4! Unfortunately, this is a cash-only establishment, but they have an ATM on-site.
I had ten Bald Eagle wings (~$8), which reminded me of Hooters wings somewhat (regarding wing size and sauce consistency) but that's where the similarity ends, thankfully. They were actually good packed some kickin' heat. The hotness was acceptable but opt for the bleu cheese instead of celery sticks. While scarfing the wings down (with plenty of napkins, thank you), I watched a random football game on one of the TVs. If you finish an order, you receive a pin which reads: I CAN HANDLE THE BALD EAGLE AT THE JUG.
The Jug Handle Inn a good place to kick back and relax, with a pool table, jukebox, shuffleboard, and great staff. Recommended!
