Went to eat here on a Sunday afternoon. Nice hostess sat us down, lots of waiting and rudeness ensued.  Should it take a half hour to get a waitress' attention? We didn't think so. All the lovey dovey reviews posted here gives me the feeling that the owners and their friends wrote them.  I doubt Yelp will post this.

My first time here was on a Sunday morning around 11:00 am. The restaurant was relatively busy but not crowded. I ordered the vegetarian omelette that came with hash browns and pancakes. The food was good and the service was efficient. My coffee cup was refilled several times. The prices are reasonable and and the portions are generous. I usually go to Seven Brothers in Morton Grove but I am glad I came here. I will come back again to try their dinner menu.

We're from Evanston, and we drive by this restaurant twice a week on the way to and from O'Hare.  Last night around 8PM, we stopped by for a late dinner on the way home.  The hostess, who we later learned is the owner along with her husband, was very welcoming .  The atmosphere is pleasant for a casual restaurant, it's well lit and clearly kept very clean.

Great food, prompt courteous service and a reasonable price.  What more can you ask for in a casual restaurant?

I saw where someone wrote about the large portions.  I can attest to that.  We both had leftovers which we'll be enjoying this weekend.

This was a terrific find, and I'm sure we'll be stopping again.  We also like the idea that this is a small business where they're clearly working hard to offer a pleasant dining experience.  The owner was telling us that her husband is the cook, and their children work with them as well.

I ate here once and it was aweful. I kinda knew when we got seated that I was on a risky mission to eat here so I went with chicken fingers, my typical "safe" order. Even the chicken fingers weren't good.

The person I went there with ordered lox....why you would even mess with something like that at a place like this is beyond me but it was huge thick pieces of salmon that just didn't look right. He ate it and then immediately regretted it.

    Sorry, but no bueno :(

I just wanted the chance to thank the owners and staff of Just Like Home by giving them a very positive rating here! I had called ahead to ask for a private room for a group coming for food after a funeral. When we arrived the room was ready and the table was set so beautifully. They had even provided a big bouquet of flowers. It was an extremely peaceful environment in which to decompress after the funeral. I can't say enough good things about the wait staff - they offered us either breakfast or lunch menus, we were able to order anything off the menu, and they even allowed for separate checks. There were no mistakes with the orders and everything went very smoothly. I was very happy that the owner kept checking in on us as well and expressed sympathy over my loss. It really did feel just like home except I didn't have to do the dishes afterward!!! The food was tasty and it was a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend this place for groups.

I came to this place with a big group. We had called ahead to let them know we were coming, and they had our space all set up when we got there - no waiting.

I cannot say enough good things about our server or the owner, who frequently checked in with us to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. I have to hand it to our waitress - we had a lot of somewhat complicated orders, and she didn't skip a beat. Our orders came out perfectly.

The menu isn't just extensive, it's exhaustive. I can't really think of much they don't serve here. They have breakfast available all day (one person in my group ordered the crepes, which looked phenomenal), a large variety of sandwiches, pasta dishes, and fish.

We got a ton of food with each of our meals. I ordered the turkey club and I received not just a huge sandwich that there is no way I could finish, but I also got a huge stack of fries and a big bowl of chicken soup.

Where I knocked off a star was for the food itself. Mostly everything was bland, and needed some seasoning. My sandwich was kind of dry, and another person in my party said her omelet and hash browns needed a lot of salt and pepper.

Overall though, it was a good experience and a great value.

A nice family restaurant. The food is good. The service is good. I go there enough that my family and the staff are on a first-name basis.

Sunday mornings are slammed. Avoid between 9:30 and 11:30.

I have one complaint. The serve too much food. I am a big big man and I cannot or should not eat the whole amount they serve,.

Try the JLH Burger, which a half  a cow with Merkt's cheddar on a giant bun with enough fries to build a room addition to your house. It is very good. Also, their salads are good, especially the cobb or greek salad. For breakfast, their omelets are excellent. If you are looking to add on a few pounds, try the skillets. They are outstanding and have enough calories to cover breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Fantastic food, service and prices!  The best saganaki I can remember.  Very generous portions on everything.  Extremely accommodating wait staff.  Loved the family feel.  Very clean.  Will definitely go back.

Just like home restaurant---was more like WORSE THAN HOME.  Had breakfast family of four.  Lets see where do I begin,  2 eggs over easy with COLD hashbrowns and Cold not done toast,  which turned into BURNT toast.  The place was not busy for a sunday morning- I can see why.  The owner of the restaurant came by to see how our breakfast was,  we told her, "not very good"!  She said how did that happen?  How are we supppse to know-  My son had banana pancakes...guess what it's 4 pancakes with a slices of banana on top- no whipcream and very plain.  My other son ordered a waffle-this waffle was over done and hard.
I would NEVER recommend this restaurant and I certainly would NEVER even think about going back.

This is a great place to come with friends. It is spacious and friendly. The selection is very good, ample, and reasonably priced.  Soups and salads are especially good. (I tried several times).  The salad is always fresh.  The soup  tastes home-made and is not too salty.  The food is nicely served and looks pleasing to the eye.  It was pretty empty , which is a shame.  I do hope it will pick up.  Give it a try.  It deserved your support.

Bakers square across the street was packed so my girlfriend and I decided to try something new... I now know why the parking lot of this place was empty. The lady at the front was nice but the lady serving us seemed not interested and took forever to even take our drink order. I had the corned beef hash which imo was runny, overly salted and worse then the usual stuff you can get from a can. My girlfriend got the biscuits n gravy breakfast which we found out after the fact comes with 0 side dishes even though it clearly says it comes with a choice of a few things on the menu.... When asked about it the waitress rudely said the menu is wrong and walked away. Ohhhhhhhkay. The food was sub par, the service was horrible and I can think of a bunch of other better breakfast spots for cheaper then the $30.00 price tag our breakfast for 2 came out to .  I thought the bill was a typo but nope it was all correct. Sorry for cheating on you bakers square

Food is ok service isn't bad however I had to ask for another napkin because they gave me a  used napkin and the person next to me had to send coffee back due to spoiled half & half. Won't be going back there again.

The place just sparkled, so that is amazing. It was so clean. They didn't even have plants all over the place that other family restaurants have - the ones that really just collect dust. I had a while to wait in the area so I stopped in alone for the first time. The hostess was super friendly. There were no tables ready (usually a good sign). A couple enetered a few minutes after me. The tables were ready and we were both seated - except their order was taken a good 5 minutes before mine and they got their food 10 minutes before me. I waited a long time for the food but that was sort of okay because I wasn't in a hurry and they said they were short-staffed so I was okay reading the paper and drinking the coffee.

The waitress was very friendly. The problem was the food. i asked for hash browns crispy but they were mushy and white. The eggs benedict were on the cheapest muffin that was more like bread and didn't even taste like a muffin but more like dough. The eggs were totally undercooked - even for poached - and the hollondaise sauce was sparse, lumpy and had no taste. So i took a few bites, tipped and paid  ($15 total) and left and went to McDonalds across the road and got a $1 McMuffin, since I was really hungry. I did mention when asked by the friendly hostess as I left that the food wasn't great and I didn't eat it. She looked sad but not too sad to offer a credit or anything. I would have stayed longer and maybe asked to have something else made but someone took my newspaper from my booth while i was in the bathroom.

I couldn't go back because although they are doing some things right,  too many things went wrong. I don't think I've ever left a restaurant to go directly to another place to eat. Their prices aren't great either, as I think my muffin breakfast was about $8.00 or $9.00, add coffee and tax and tip and it was $15.00.

    Review is for breakfast/brunch

    The portions are generous.

    Food is freshly made.

    Prices are cheap.

    Pancakes are fluffly and yummy.

Hash browns are awesome---crispy, thin strands of golden brown potato not too greasy or mushy

    Two thumbs up

Driving through the neighborhood I noticed this new restaurant opening up and decided to stop by for breakfast today. I have my places I usually go to for breakfast but decided on something new. So Just Like Home was the perfect choice.

We were greeted by a very friendly hostess that immediately took us to our seats. We noticed that the inside looked very nice, clean, and inviting. A short moment later and we were served water and asked if we wanted anything to drink. We ordered coffee and chocolate milk. Both were fresh and tasty. After looking at the menu and narrowing our selection, we concluded on a gyro omelet and the homemade corn beef hash.

The food arrived and the plates were filled to the edges. The presentation was very nice and all garnishes were edible (grapes & pineapple) Both dishes were extremely savory. Our waitress did make sure we had everything we needed and upon request brought any necessary condiments.

The service, the food, the experience is one we will never forget. For breakfast in this area it is the place to go, no doubt about it. We will definitely return and make sure we have lunch there as well. You will not be disappointed in my opinion.

Prices :  Very good in comparison with the portions
    Service : A+

We were excited to try this place after it opened. Who doesn't love a new breakfast place? We were a little disappointed. We came for breakfast and had omelets. Not bad, not great. The selection wasn't very large or interesting. It's standard diner offerings.

I wouldn't be opposed to going back, but we're not in a big hurry. My wife's veggie omelet was actually pretty good with fresh veggies. They did improve the decor from the previous owners.

Went here with my boyfriend and a  lovely group of friends while visiting the Chicago suburbs and was super pleased with the service and restaurant atmosphere.  The food tastes fresh and they are not shy about their servings.  If you hungry and looking to feed your appetite, be sure to stop by JLH restaurant because they have HUGE entrees and plenty of options.  I like the modern decor with the diner feel.  The exposed kitchen is a nice touch and their in-house bar is quite the great addition to the restaurant.

For graduation parties, get togethers, quick bite for lunch or dinner or brunch, you MUST pay the folks at Just Like Home a visit. It's a family run restaurant that leaves you a lasting impression.

    Check them out!

I was sad to see the last restaurant that occupied this space close last year. Since the beginning of the year, I saw some stirrings in the old place. Then a banner appeared, saying "a new restaurant coming soon." Three weeks ago, "Just Like Home" opened up.

This afternoon, at lunchtime, I felt like going to try this new restaurant called "Just Like Home" that opened in our neighborhood.  I am happy to say that it was a very pleasant experience! The decor is very cheery, bright and airy, actually using the same tables and booths from the last restaurant, but somehow much brighter, spruced up, and inviting! They did add a small bar for liquor and drinks, which consisted of the main part of their remodeling, and refinished much of the wood interior.

It is a Greek-run restaurant. I had a chance to meet one of the owners, Sula, who was going from table to table, mingling with the customers, thanking them for coming and asking how their food was. I remember her from another restaurant that they had in the adjoining suburb, also called "Just Like Home." They sold that one many years ago, and the family went to run a cafeteria in a business building of over 1,000+ people. Seems like they wanted to be on their own again, and reopened here. And I'm glad they did! It is a family-run business, with her lovely daughter at the checkout register.

They have two, different menus: one for breakfast (which ends approximately 11:00 am, and a little later on weekends) and one for lunch and dinner. The food is a big cut above average, and you get a lot of it. They also have "Daily Specials." I had a Gyros Wrap which came with soup and lightly- seasoned fries, and a generous roll basket. The soups were a little sparse and could have used more ingredients in them, but the flavor was incredibly delicious. The Gyros Wrap was TO DIE FOR!!! It was about 3-4 inches THICK and cut into two 5-6 inch lengths! And LOADED with Gyros!!! It came with an extra side order of very thick and wonderful cucumber sauce, garnish, and a large dill pickle spear. It was a very sumptuous meal served on very large plates. There was so much that I ended taking half of my meal home. My friend had the "Just Like Home" hamburger (with cheese and sautéd onions), which was a HALF a pound of beefy goodness, garnish, fries, and a pickle spear. Debbie, our waitress, was very sweet and helpful. The wait for the food wasn't long, and we also met Gwen, another gal who I knew who used to work there years ago, when it was under different management.

If the breakfast serving portions are as full as the lunch/dinner portions, I'm there! The breakfast menu looked very inviting, and the prices overall were pretty much in line for restaurants located in that area. Since there are several churches in the area, the Sunday breakfasts can be a little wait, but it is a large restaurant and the seating area for waiting is inside and fairly large.

It is handicapped accessible, but the entrance threshold on the east end is high and very hard to navigate a wheelchair over (from my personal experience). They said that they will address that shortly. The west entrance might be easier. The washrooms are very clean and also easily accessible. They also have a large, separate dining room that they open for overflow and special occasions.

They had everything I like in a restaurant. I'll be going back for breakfast. Oh, and dessert! I'll let you know how that was. My guess might be... fabulous! If so, this review will go up to five stars, no questions asked.
