My husband and I went to Kacey's last Saturday night. We were greeted by a very warm and accommodating waitress and were seated promptly.  (I'd like to add that we are regular customers, eating at Kacey's at least once a month.)

I should have known that it was going to be a bad evening when after placing our drink order, we noticed that our bartender was nowhere to be found.  Our waitress and several other customers had to go to the bar and get their own drinks.  Then there was the soup and salad bar.  Mind you, we arrived at about 6:30, not 10:00PM.  Several selections at the salad bar were depleted, and nobody refilled them.  Then there was the soup.  I chose the cream of broccoli, cauliflower and carrot.  It was thick, gloppy and tasteless, with pieces of thickener (flour maybe?) floating in it.  Gross. My husband had the beef vegetable soup and said that it was OK, not great.

I ordered the special pot roast, expecting some gravy.  None came. The taste was OK but it was very dry.  My husband ordered the chicken sandwich and said it was dry, too.

Kacey's used to be my extended family's go-to restaurant for Lent dinners and birthday parties.  After Saturday's dinner, I think we'll find someplace else.

Knights of Columbus Lansing Council 3540/Columbian Club of Lansing/Kacey's Restaurant/ACE Catering & Banquets - 3 Stars: These are all related and in the same building. Everything starts with the KofC ... they run their own Council out of this building, located at 17800 South Lorenz - one block west of Burnham Avenue on 178th Street. The building has three main areas.

The KofC restaurant was named the Columbian Club of Lansing (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Flansingkc.com%2Fmenu.html&s=c3f64f74e8ea8bb28aee80f99469770167b02af7bcb8414d991f269584df0274" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://lansingkc.com/men…</a>) and it occupies one end (south) of the building ... probably 30 tables in the dining room with seating for over 100. Full dinner menu and exceptional salad bar; full service bar with very reasonable prices. During Lent the restaurant is always packed on Fridays because of the excellent fish selections - so make a reservation (708-895-7720). On behalf of the Columbian Club the KofC decided to lease out the restaurant business and chose ACE Catering & Banquets (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aceace.org%2F&s=9f9b5df230dfc7b3e2ad60598bbd6abf89b58aa73098078ac2d5e9bb3a4fd23c" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.aceace.org/</a>) - who recently renamed the KofC restaurant Kacey's (get it?). Ray Kosinski runs ACE, and operates the KofC dining room and all the catering ... he runs a nice kitchen and keeps up the restaurant end of the business very well. ACE Catering also runs a number of other KofC's and restaurants in the southeast Chicago area & northwest Indiana.

The middle of the building is a banquet room that can be rented and used for ACE-catered affairs (First Communions, graduations, weddings, etc.) or club special occasions open to the public (Easter and Mother's Day brunches, etc.) ... or used as overflow when the dining room is packed. There also is an outdoor area that can be used/rented for BBQ parties and the like, weather permitting.

The north end of the building is a large sports bar with big screen TVs on the wall. Full service bar, seating at the bar and tables around the walls.

All told, this is a nice place to go - visit the restaurant or the sports bar and you'll have a nice time. While the seniors absolutely love the restaurant, the place is wonderful for families too.
