First of all the website information does not match the actual offering on site. Â Happy hour is not 24/7, it ends when you arrive. Â The menu is very limited. Â Fried hamburger, $1 for cheese, fried chicken, fried fish. Â The open liquor bottles had little paper cones inverted atop the pour spouts. Â When I inquired as to why, I was told to keep the flies out! Â What about our open drinks and food?
Review Source:Alright. First off, I have trained bartenders and servers for 5+ years now. This place has potential, but needs to trim some fat to actually have some long-term success. I came in with my friend to see the Duke/UNC game. Was on NO TVs out of the 15 or so at the bar despite the game being on ESPN. One TV had the default Insight cable channel PowerPoint channel (Ch. 2) on the entire time. Embarrassing. I asked for the channel to be changed and the bartender said "Why would you want to watch that shit?" With delayed horse racing and a default channel currently on TVs. This bartender was wearing a JACK DANIELS dirty-looking white T-shirt and was obviously in his 30s. Balding, and having an attitude towards customers. This person should NOT be in customer service, or bartending at all. Lest be forget, he's not in Tennessee, and in bourbon country. Someone should've made sure that t-shirt was not EVER worn behind a bar. Came across as really lazy and unprofessional. Also, he didn't have a clue what a "John Wall shot" was, poured draft beers straight-on with foam overtaking everything creating an amount of waste that I would've been furious at if I ran the bar or owned the place, and when his "tedious" customer service was done, he went and proceeded to sit at the bar and talk to his coworkers the whole time rather than doing his job. Also, a drink was spilled and he didn't offer to clean it up. The patron had to clean it up himself and he didn't ask to replace his drink either. The other female bartender did, which was nice to see at least so at least there is some potential there in regards to service. The crowd was OLD, and didn't lead to us wanting to stick around at all after our one drink. In short, this place needs help, but with the right people in place there's a chance it can work. Cut the jerks completely out of the picture. Hire people that are positive, want to be there, and are willing to help the business grow and success. Otherwise, this place might have a short life just like Shooters, and Crossroads did before it.
Review Source:I live in the neighborhood this is in and have been looking for a solid local place. Â So I am rooting for this place before ever going inside.
I was disappointed to say the least. Â
First, the service; the other reviews are right. Â I had to flag the bartender down despite him seeing me sit down AT THE BAR. Â Then after handing me a menu he returned to the end of the bar to cavort with the rest of the staff with his back turned towards me. Â This lasted so long and was obnoxious that the waitresses he was talking to kept glancing over at me uncomfortably knowing he should turn around. Â Finally the waitresses just walked away as he kept trying to talk to with them and not let them return to their tables.
The food is a MASSIVE step down from when it was Crossroads. Â I ordered a mix of minis that included mini-burgers, mini-ham/cheese and mini pulled pork BBQ.
The min burgers were "sour" tasting and like another reviewer said the buns they have chosen are second rate and I like the Hawaiian style (why would this place especially not use those!) much better.
The mini BBQ's were actually spicy, despite the menu not mentioning this in any way. Â They were bad.
The mini ham/cheese was the best of the 3 but only OK.
In summary, I would say that I am rooting for this place and hope they turn it around but they simply have too far to go. Â With a staff that appears to have walked out of a horror film sporting neck tattoos and questionable hygiene leading the charge, I just can't see it, or me giving them a 2nd chance.
Now I miss Crossroads.
