La Escollera

Truly great Mexican food. I've been here three times and each time has been fantastic. I recently came here with a friend, and ordered 2 tacos and a Corona. He ordered a torta and 2 horchatas, and our bill was $15. Great food, awesome price!

I also brought my mom here recently, and when the waitress warned her that she was about to order one of the spiciest dishes on the menu, she said she was ok with it.  I have no idea why she did this because even normal salsa at a chain restaurant can be a little too much heat for her. Needless to say, she couldn't finish her meal because it was too spicy. So yes, mom, when they say it will be spicy, take their word for it.

This review is strictly regarding their lunch specials because at the moment I have not had the pleasure of dining at another time.  However, I did enjoy myself immensely.

We got there right as the specials were ending (we're never on time for anything in this world) but they let us order them anyway.  I believe it was like $5 something for a burrito and a can of soda and $6 for a chimichanga and a can of soda, both served with rice and beans and, of course, chips and salsa.   We got one of each and some cheese dip.  I think there was nothing left on the table when we finished.  So, so good.

I really want to try more of their authentic dishes and some seafood and hopefully be able to add an extra star.  We are pretty close to this spot now so I foresee that as becoming a reality very soon.

Authentic Mexican food.  Authentic Mexican restaurant!  

The menu is staggering.  A majority of the items are seafood dishes or spicy dishes.  The seating is "cozy" to say the least.  Helpful staff is bilingual and ready to describe the bountiful dishes on the menu in greater detail.  Although the food is very fresh, tasty, and authentic, I believe that similar restaurants within 5 miles or less might be a better value.
