I hadn't been here in quite some time. Â Seems this, like other establishments, needed to cut back to get by. Â Potatoes werent as plentiful- bacon was lesser quality. Â I rate the french toast and the mocha five stars. Â Other than that, exactly as three-stars states, a-ok. Â as the food is pricier than most of your other spots. Â The mocha was worth the price I paid, the food, not. Â
I will say, my dining companion loved that when she ordered more coke, it came in a carafe.
If I get a coupon, I may go back. Otherwise, if-y
You know how your experience is going to go when the host greets you unenthusiastically without eye contact. Â You know how it's going to go when the host asks a server if they "want this table" right in front of you. Â We were seated (at a table that should have been cleaner) and greeted a bit later. Â Watched the host walk away and head to a table in a corner and sit down to eat/talk with someone seated there. We ordered and the food came out rather quickly. Â 27 years of experience in the business had me thinking to myself "I hope they didn't just microwave some made-ahead-of-time items". Â Sure enough... tasted and looked microwaved. Â My wife had the California Turkey. Â The sandwich was mediocre. Â I had the Homestead Breakfast. The biscuits were terrible. Â No flavor and completely microwaved. Â They were dry and hard. Â Eggs were ok. Â The potatoes were passable, but only because they were decently spiced. Â As we exited my wife turned to me and said "please don't take me to 'Le Poop' ever again". Â Perhaps the location in Park Ridge is better, but sadly we won't know. Â This location killed it for us. Â With so many good restaurants popping up with freshly made items and quality ingredients; places like this need to step it up and evolve. Â Throwing mediocre food at guests doesn't work anymore. Â You have to be better.
Review Source:Le Peep was Le Disappointing. I ordered the breakfast sandwich. The eggs were cooked in the microwave. The bacon was so "crunchy" it could break your filling and it was served radioactive hot. The potatoes that were served with it were a little scary looking. This isn't like the one we went to in D.C.
Review Source:This is my family's new "go to" place for breakfast! Â We LOVE the homemade strawberry orange juice. There is nothing fresher or tastier. Â We have had a great breakfast every time we go. Eggs Benedict are great, Belgian Waffle is so fluffy and tasty, I don't even put butter on it... just some pecans and a bit of syrup. Kids have had pancakes, eggs, french toast and have finished every last bite. Great addition to Mt. Prospect!
Review Source:Quick lunch here. Â The burger was juicy and not bad. Â The waffle fries were super crispy. Â All in all okay. Â Quick, super-friendly service. Â More stars if the A/C or vent system in the middle of the dining room wasn't super loud. Â What's up with that. Â Looked up and the vents were super dusty, too. Â Which may explain why it felt stuffy in there to me. Â Someone can check into that. Â The noise dominated an otherwise good lunch.
Review Source:Oh Le Peep...how I wanted to like you...but I have to be honest...I did not like it at all...
Maybe it is this location specifically but I was expecting something like Egg Harbor Cafe. Â It looked like Egg Harbor, felt like Egg Harbor, but tasted like Denny's. Â
The waiting staff was unattentive and food was not good. Â It was not bad, but definitely not good. Â I had the typical breakfast foods, eggs, sausage, and pancakes. Â It was greasy and did not taste fresh. Â
I just won't go again...
Go to LePeep in Park Ridge. I'll explain.
LePeep is not a franchise, like, say McDonald's where the menu is always the same wherever you go. LePeep instead licenses the name and menu, but owners can pay for the name and use their own menu. Most LePeep's use the regular menu. This one and the one this company owns in Chicago DO NOT.
I've been to the LePeep in Park Ridge and the LePeep in Champaign, IL and they stick to the main corporate menu ( http://www.lepeep.com/me… )This LePeep uses their own menu and the food is just meh in comparison.
Even the potatoes were different and awful. Pancakes were generic. A party of five just left angry and confused and wishing we'd just driven slightly further to the Park Ridge location.
You might enjoy this location's food, but don't think you've even had a glimpse at what real LePeep recipes taste like. Go to Park Ridge, get real LePeep that actually gives Egg Harbor a run for it's money.
Their link sausage is very good - juicy and not too greasy with a nice mild/medium spice mix. Â Their blueberry pancakes are great - very fluffy with fresh blueberries inside - served with a blueberry compote. Â If you pair the pancakes with their lumberjack special with eggs, sausage (or bacon), and a seasoned potatoes, then you will have a large portion of a breakfast standard combo - with much above standard quality. Â I wish they were open later - they close around 2:30.
Review Source:My husband and I love eating at LePeeps. Not only is their breakfast food great, their coffee bar is an added bonus! The place is usually packed on weekends but we've never waited for a table. They do try to keep you moving. It's not a place to linger and read the newspaper for two hours. Just a place to grab some delicious breakfast food.
Review Source:EXCELLENT Breakfast Destination. I am a breakfast lover, could eat it 3 meals a day. I love LePeep's menu because it is more than the basic pancakes, eggs, omlettes, etc. We can do most of that at home. They have so many imaginative combos. Like a good breakfast restaurant when you order coffee they leave a carafe at your table so you can refill at your leisure. The best is Sundays in the Summer the Farmer's Market is kitty-corner - so you get your fresh market, then mosey over to LePeep. Love it.
Review Source:i've been back here several times since my last review, and i must say i don't think i've been disappointed since then. so, no chicken salad for me, but everything else i've gotten has been delicious. i love the brocolli cheese soup and the cafe cobb salad, and i've been wanting to try the salmon salad. a lot of the sandwiches have avocado, which makes me happy.
i've also hosted a couple of work-related lunches here that were super smooth. the service was friendly and fast, everyone's order was correct, and everyone enjoyed their meals.
We went in on a Saturday for a late breakfast. The restaurant was pretty packed, but we were seated immediately.
The decor is cute and cozy and it was nice to sit right next to the window while the rain poured outside. The ambiance was okay, overall, but it was way too cold. I heard other guests complaining about this as well.
The service was pretty quick and we received out food maybe 5 minutes after placing an order. I had the crepe with spinach/broccoli/mushroom and hollandaise sauce. I felt that the crepe was maybe a little bit too mushy inside. The breakfast potatoes were good and my order came with a warm breadstick and butter.
While the breakfast menu is priced reasonably, I felt that the drinks were way overpriced. That's why I didn't order any.
I thought it was kind of odd that you had to pay your bill at the front instead of with the server, but okay. The cashier had no customer service skills, though.
Overall, the dining experience was pleasant. We were in and out in about 30 minutes.
We've talked about going to breakfast here for about 2 years and finally did this am.
Made it in before the Sunday am rush and were sat at a table on the other side of a half wall next to the hostess stand. They sure have crammed the tables in there because you can barely walk between them and there was a constant traffic jam right next to ours. Even worse was the fact that the main phone sits right on that half wall next to the hostess stand aka in my ear! Not something I consider to be part of a nice breakfast.
The staff is the typical mix of high school and college students. The high schoolers need to be taught that yelling at each other across the restaurant isn't proper or good for business.
Our waiter spoke very softly and could barely be understood over the hustle and bustle of the venue. Not to mention that but he couldn't hear us either and ended up getting my husbands order wrong and trying to charge us for an entire extra meal because of how he "translated" the order. Thank goodness that the manager was understanding and removed the additional charge.
Now on to the food. My husband ordered Swedish pancakes, scrambled eggs with cheese and hash browns (although I believe they call them brunch potatoes). He enjoyed his food although the eggs were lacking the cheese that he ordered. My friend ordered the desperado skillet and enjoyed it very much. I ordered the cinnamon roll French toast, the taste was good but the custard batter that they dipped it in made for a very soggy center.
I'd be willing to possibly try eating at Le Peep again but if I do I'll be visiting the Park Ridge location.
well at least nothing was burnt.
very pretty decor. the place attempts to be a shnazzy breakfast spot, but other than great interior, that's about where it all ends. The food is okay at best.
I had chicken crepes with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, and broccoli. I love crepes. the texture was on point, but the inside was a soggy mess. Â The tomatoes maybe should have been placed on top. I figure: hey if it's dry, that's what the hollandaise sauce is for, right? This crepe was sized for 4 people. Â Which is okay if you haven't eaten in a day or two. Otherwise, way too much. Potatoes on the side were pretty bland. Which is too bad, since they fool you with the pretty slices and seasoning.
coffee was bitter like butt. real coffee, i'm sure, but man. I dont favor my coffee tasting like cough syrup.
Service was a disaster. Our waiter went AWOL constantly. He was pretty random, hard to find, and it was pretty obvious he had too much on his plate. Â We'd ask for boxes to go. Then we'd see him seat new diners, take another tables order, clear another table, and THEN get our boxes. Kinna awkward, no? Oh yeah. And all the mean time, walking back and forth across our table with no acknowledgment.
Totally hyped up. Couldn't deliver.
For a place that specializes in breakfast meal, they sure do make one hell of a burger. Their meat patties are very well sized and very juicy. I orders mine burger with cheddar cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce. It was incredible! The cheese was blanked over the bacon which trapped it on the burger. The BBQ was wonderful. I'm pretty certain it's home made.
Their lemonade was fantastic. That too is home made.
All in all it was a pliant surprise. I'll definitely make a return trip to Le Peep... perhaps for breakfast.
I have been to Le Peep several times - however visiting the one in west loop. Â I was hopeful the suburb location would be better - but no such luck. Â Food is average or below.
Signature potatoes had no flavor. Â My omelet was over-cooked. Â Toast had way too much butter on it. Â Coffee was awful - diluted and tasted old.
The server was great. Â The facility was ok, a little too dark. Â
I wanted bacon, eggs and hashbrowns. Â Had a hard time finding it on the menu. Cutesy names for the food.
The hash browns were pretty but not crispy at all, sort of mushy/mealy. The bacon was thick, chewy and TOO SWEET! Gag. Â
Overall an ok place to meet a friend for breakfast. Â
As I said at the start the server was awesome and owner seems like a nice guy.
I liked it here. Â I had the wanderer skillet which was great. Â It had potatoes, bacon, tomato, onion and Monterey Jack cheese with eggs. I chose this one because I like eggs with onion and tomato. Â I liked the potatoes - they weren't too greasy and had nice flavor. Â I do wish there was a bit more bacon but I liked it just the way it was. Â The place was nice and clean and the service was good. Â The price was normal for breakfast places but I think it's a bit expensive. Â They do have coupons though so I will be coming back with my coupons.
Review Source:I had an Omni omelet. I asked for no mushrooms but they gave me one with mushrooms. I told the server and he took it back, apologized, and took $5 off the bill, which was nice especially considering I wasn't really bothered by it, nor did I make a it a big deal. The omelet was very good. I'd get it next time. Their signature potatoes they serve are not too good, in my opinion. They are bland and I'd rather have some hash browns.
The orange juice was good too.
All in all, the service was friendly and the food was very good. It is a little on the expensive side, though (it would have been ~$30 for two dishes and two orange juices, tax and tip included, if it weren't for the -$5 and -$8 coupon). I hear they have some nice coupons and deals though. I'll be back.
By the way, I found out that they deliver.. which is a first time for me with a breakfast/brunch place. Maybe one day I'll give delivery a shot, but something about getting breakfast delivered seems wrong..
I came here with a sandwich or salad in mind but I'm a sucker for breakfast now, thanks to my favorite boy :). I ordered the wanderer skillet (brunch potatoes with onion, tomato and bacon) topped with scrambled eggs and some yummy white cheese. My aunt ordered a veggie skillet with over hard eggs. Our order came out flip flopped and I didn't notice until I nearly bit into a mushroom, of which I am allergic. Initially I thought I had just ordered the wrong skillet because my eggs and toast were correct but after a closer look I noticed my aunt had my skillet but her eggs and I had my eggs and her skillet. Hmmm. Took less than 5 minutes to bring out my new skillet, thanks! My aunt just took the skillet I had been given because I hadn't bitten into any of it. Flavor was yummy! The potatoes were delicious but sorta just a mish mash with the rest of the ingredients. Whatever the cheese was, I'm a fan. Swiss maybe? I dunno.
I think there was a Le Peep in Bloomington, where I went to college, and I remember they were known for their brunch. I likey!
Yo, peep this: Â Le Peep is TOPS when it comes to brunch in the burbs!
Brunch can be a killer for anyone's diet plan. Â Woah waffles! Â Bazam bacon! Ping pancakes! Â It's a veritable playground of fatty landmines and you can fall off the wagon easily and most restaurants don't give you much selection on the healthy front. Â That's rough for a gal like me who loves brunching but also loves the feeling of poundage coming off my bootie.
Enter Le Peep. Â Sure, you can go hog wild with their combo plates that serve up Belgian waffles, two eggs, bacon or sausage AND breakfast potatoes, Swedish pancakes, skillets with eggs, cheese, bacon and veggies, etc., but you can also peruse an entire menu section with healthy fare like egg white omelets filled with all kinds of yummy, healthy things and served with a whole wheat English muffin and fruit instead of heavier sides like potatoes and bacon.
I ordered the light yet sublimely delicious North Shore Omelet which was egg whites, spinach, mushrooms and low fat cheese served with salsa, a side of fresh fruit and a wheat English muffin. Â I loved it. Â The omelet was hearty, yet portion controlled (read: not a monster taking up the entire plate) and the veggies were super fresh and tasty. Â My fruit had a nice mix of strawberries, melon and bananas (three cheers for something other than just honeydew and an orange slice) and my English muffin was small and crunchy. Â Yes, small is a good thing, carb avoiders.
Service was top notch. Â Our waiter was prompt with the hot water refills for my tea, regular ice water top offs and he brought us a carafe of piping hot coffee to keep our mugs full. Â The food was delivered on the swift. Â I mean, really, there was no room for complaint.
I'll be back for sure next time I'm out and about in the burbs.
Another good breakfast brunch spot you can count on to satisfy your Sunday morning hunger. Â The simple yet contemporary decor and semi-gourmet menu marks this spot an inviting place to bring your friends and family. Â Plus the prices are really reasonable, expect to pay about $10 a person.
Review Source:Great place and one of my favorites! Â Staff is great and friendly. Â Food is cooked promptly and served quite quickly. Â Tends to get really crowded on Saturdays & Especially Sundays for those that go to church and then come and eat.
Prices a bit pricey but the food is cooked well. Â Only thing is when I order the same dish as I always do, sometimes I get a different Ham and sometimes get slightly less then other times. Â Just the consistency is a little off.
But overall I love this place and I always get my little stamp card punched for future visits.
I agree with others that Le Peep is "solid" but these days are you going to spend money on breakfast for something that's just pretty good or go somewhere that's above and beyond? I much prefer the atmosphere and food at Egg Harbor or Walker Brothers.
The food was good, prices were a bit high in my mind for the quality of the food. However, if you have a Mt. prospect library card you get one entree free with the purchase of another. Saved us $8 and made it very affordable then!
Service was prompt but the guy seemed a bit scatter brained. And the atmosphere was more akin to a chain restaurant like Denny's than what you get elsewhere.
Solid place for breakfast or brunch in downtown Mount Prospect.
- Great tasting freshly squeezed juices (+)
- if you order soda or coffee you get a pitcher or pot on the table so you don't go thirsty during your meal waiting for a refill (+)
- Serves Intelligentsia coffee (+), however the coffee is quite diluted and sometimes served lukewarm (-)
- the kitchen is having a hard time keeping up during busy times so don't go starving or you'll be eating your napkin while waiting for your food (-)
- breakfast dishes are offered with a choice of potatoe, fresh fruits or tomatoes which is a nice plus if you are watching what you eat (+)
On this occasion we ordered the mediterranean omelet: the potatoes were really good (+) but the chicken in the omelet was way too dry (-).
Also ordered the Northshore omelet off the light menu: nice egg whites based omelet with spinach and mushrooms and reduced fat cheese (+), however came with salsa staight out of a jar as opposed to the fresh kind (-).
Overall, a good place but some details would need improvement for a more enjoyable experience.
The perfect time to dine at Le Peep is for a late breakfast. It's got kind of an elegant feel and if feeling elegant excuses you from doing silly things like dieting then enjoy an 8oz cinnamon roll with a luscious creamy glaze....::drools::
My reviews have gotten fatter and fatter lately... :)
And if you thought THIS review couldn't get any more indulgent I have to tell you to try the Gooey Buns which are english muffins with brown sugar, cinnamon and almonds and CREAM CHEESE! How can you eat something like that slowly? That's something you have one bite of and turn into a Gooey Buns maniac!
If that's not your style, their french toast and pancakes are SO GOOD. And if you'd like to try something dangerous sounding, have the Salmon Benedict...They have some mexican breakfast-y dishes and omelets (haven't tried any of those though) and even some lunch items if you're going a little later in the day.
I think everyone should have a little Le Peep, at least once in their life.
A great place for breakfast, lunch or brunch. Only been there once, but I would love to go back. Everything is fresh and tasty, and they have a nice wide selection on their menu, including more healthy options that don't taste like it.
It is a bit close quarters, but not uncomfortably so. It's nicely decorated and the service was good, with lots of refills on my coffee and the husband's water.
Plus, it's right in downtown Mt. Prospect, so you can wander around and see the other cute shops and in summer on Sundays, farmers market!
Let's just say that I went into this place with not very high expectations. Here is what I expected: I expected this place to be overpriced, under portioned. snobby service, overly trendy decor, and allegedly trendy menu items! I was not expecting a whole lot out of this place. I know I was stereotyping this place big time and I was way off base here.
The place is not very large at all, but the design is perfect. The seats are close together but not too close where I felt uncomfortable. Our server was outstanding, She was very friendly, efficient, and did an excellent job taking care of us.
I ordered standard bacon and eggs and they were solid. I must make mention of the cinnamon rolls. By far the best that I have had anywhere. it blows Ann Sather out of the water! The icing was slightly sweet and more buttery than usual. It was an excellent blend as the sweetness did not overpower it!
This place exceeded my expectations in every way possible. I mean my expectations were not very high to begin with but I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed. The next time we are in the area, we will definitely be stopping by again,
Look for coupons in the Entertainment book as well as neighborhood coupon packs!
I love Le Peep! The food is good and fresh and simply prepared wonderful ingredients. This is not gourmet fancy schmancy stuff. I am talking about a good breakfast meal. They are open Breakfast and Lunch hrs only. The parking in the lot behind this string of stores on NW Hwy has the 2 hr limit and you will get ticketed! You can park on the street on NW Hwy. or around the corner by Caribou as well if you think you will be longer.
The breakfast potatoes are wonderful hunks of red parslied potatoes browned a bit. The french toast is really good. The eggs are all fresh and service is wonderful with a pot of coffee given to you on your table and a carafe of lemoned water waiting for you.
You leave there full and feeling good. Service has been excellent and friendly every time!!!!!
This is a yummy place to go and enjoy for casual dining. Â Hubby always goes for Breakfast and I always go for lunch. Â He ordered some sort of mexican style skillet and I had the chicken ceasar wrap. Â Both extrememly good! Â The service was really great too. Â Our waitress insisted on filling our drinks even if we only had taken a sip. Â Fine by me!
Review Source:I am a creature of habit. Â Meaning that I often find one dish that I crave, and then only ever order that . . . sigh! Â That is why I need to make the trek from Elmhurst to this location in Mt. Prospect, because I crave their Spinach Crepes Benedict like I crave . . . well, you can fill in the blanks. Â Having lived in the far northwest side of Chicago for a while, I used to go to the Park Ridge location, until one day, venturing in, I discovered that they changed their menu and took my fav dish off after at least 10 years! Â This location, however, is far more superb for a breakfast place; it's new, roomy, and cute. Â They do have other dishes as well; they have a great smoothie bar featuring questionably healthy drinks with overly cute names. Â So if you have a craving for spinach, even after the ecoli scare, venture to this location in the nw and enjoy!
