Had a great dinner there a few nights ago with my wife. It's defiantly the best new option for seafood in the area. Our server Rachel was great, she recommended we try one of their sangria's and we loved it. The restaurant has a fun urban feel that is a lot different than what you'd expect if you've ever visited one of the more traditional Legals around town. One of the managers saw us joking around and having fun and he thanked us for coming in and checking the restaurant out. We are looking forward to going back soon.
Review Source:A hip and trendy place in Hingham, well whoohoo. Â First you don't go to C Bar for the food, you go to be seen. Â Slick, tapestry walls, dim lighting make it appear to be more club than restaurant. Â
But onto the food.  Littlenecks, very good, fresh, no grit, good start.  Wedge Salad and Chowder, pretty good.  The little ice cream bon bons, ok, need to use better ice cream and then they would be killer. But let's get to why two stars,  Service,  First, when the place is  noticably not full, don't leave people waiting 10 minutes for a drink.  Once the busboy has cleared the table, don't wait 20 minutes to bring the check.  Staff, largely in-attentive and not concentrating on details.  Could see people at the bar waiting for one of the bartenders to stop playing with her phone so they could get drinks.  Will give it one more try, but if it the same it's off the list.
Been multiple times, love this place. Â Service always on point. I love the naked cowboy and merries for oysters. The baked stuffed out of shell lobster is so decadent and delish. Â I've also tried a tasty swordfish here. Â The Thai calamari is outstanding and a must try. Â I usually request a low top table for comfort. Â The wine list is extensive. This spot is just what the south shore needed,
Review Source:This was a big disappointment. Service was average. The noise level was high, probably due to the fact that it was just cement floor and no dividers in the room.
Oysters skimpy. Shrimp cocktails skimpy and tasteless. lobster and avocado salad were OK, but very overpriced. And the green used in the lobster and avocado salad was watercress...strange combination tastewise. Calamari were good. Swordfish were rare inside once we cut it open, had to send it back. Swordfish portion was on the small side. Vegetables that came with the swordfish were good, asparagus and green beans. It's sad that the best part of the meal in a seafood place were the vegetables! On the way out we ran into friends waiting to be seated...we told them to run! Glad to have saved them a bad experience.
Went to celebrate a birthday and it was amazing! Â Very attentive and knowledgeable wait staff. Â While we were looking at the menu we were brought a complimentary crab cake (not a common occurrence). Â The lump crab was delicious and the best I've had outside of Maryland. Â Also had appetizers of Rhode Island style calamari and the fried pickles - very good. Â Our entrees included the cioppino, grilled scallops, crab cake plate, and house salad with grilled scallops. Â The seafood was super fresh and prepared so that the natural flavors were enhanced. Â Two in our party tried the white sangria and the slight tartness went perfectly with the dinners. This is where we'll bring my son and his family when they come up from Texas since Legal C have such a wonderful representation of the beautiful seafood available here in New England.
Review Source:Just tried this new Legal C Bar location at Derby Street Shoppes in Hingham and my initial reaction is that it is far superior to the one in South Boston. Â Granted it was a quiet Sunday night and the restaurant half-full, but many staff members took time to acknowledge and greet guests. Â Our server was attentive, offering both drink and food recommendations. Â The space was open, bright and comfortable--my only concern was that the high-top tables far out-numbered the low-top tables. Â The seafood was utterly fresh, which is why you go to a Roger Berkowitz establishment to begin with, and you get what you pay for--fresh, quality seafood without question. Â Had Welfleet oysters, truffle lobster Mac and cheese and the crab cake with scallops and grilled shrimp. Â For drinks, a strawberry sangria and a hibiscus margarita. Â Definitely excited for this location, and will return.
Review Source:I can say this was an amazing experience based on the meal my friends and I had. (Experiences may vary, of course) We started out with  Raw Nantucket Oysters which were clean and delicious. A great way to start a good meal. The Deep fried pickles (If you haven't had these they are a perfect appetizer) were better than others I have had (just the perfect amount of batter) The Clam Chowder was great (not the absolute best I have had but great) The Lobster Bisque was smooth and buttery although I have to say not too much lobster meat. We were so hungry we ordered more oysters and selected Sherry Oysters from Duxbury, MA. (at 89 cents apiece an excellent value) The Sherry Oysters were just as good as the Nantucket ones if not better! The draft selection was very nice. I ordered An organic Amber Ale and Wachusett Blueberry. (It's great when they have blueberries in the beer too) For Desert we had Banana's Foster, Boston Creme Pie and Strawberry Shortcake. Banana's Foster was perfect, Strawberry Shortcake moist and generously portioned and Boston Creme Pie had the best looking presentation which was almost Flan-esque. The server (wish I could remember his name) was personable, attentive and very well composed. He went above and beyond and when he was a little tied up when we were first seated he came over to introduce himself and told us he would be right with us. I turned to my friends and said "Now THAT is how you handle a customer when you are busy!" (See my previous post at Foxwoods' Festival Buffet) I would be excited to come back here. (I am a parenthesis abuser, I know!)
Review Source:Went here for dinner tonight. Service was friendly, attentive and terrific. Food was good for the most part...had the clam pizza appetizer was yummy. I was in the mood for a lobster roll but it is not on the dinner menu...the waitress said they could make it for me because it is on the lunch menu.
When the bill came, the shocker was they $27 charge for a lobster roll! Really? Other than that, enjoyable experience but that lobster roll was tiny and WAY overpriced!
I went in for lunch with my mom and 17 month son. We were greeted immediately and sat promptly. Our server and trainee offered up suggestions for apps and drinks. We ended up with the apple tortilla goat cheese salad, the bang bang cauliflower, and no room for dessert. Everything was really good and the service was very helpful and perky. The atmosphere was lively and bustling. I could easily see coming here for drinks with friends. (There is a large bar with lots of seating) It's very modern and sleek with nautical touches- from the heavy rope (tie your boat to the dock) lighting and the slate gray with orange, yellow and red (flag colors). This place is a winner.
Review Source:Used to live in the city and visited Legal Harborside since they opened. I've been to the C Bar location in Legacy Place as well, and love the bar atmosphere.
We went on the first soft-opening night (Tuesday) as well as the following Thursday. Both times we had large parties (4 adults with 3 kids, then 5 adults and 2 kids) and were seated quickly, and received the best treatment throughout the meal.
The food was fantastic, and the waitstaff, floor managers, and even a chef stopped at our table to make sure everything was perfect.
We were curious to try this new spot, as I love Legal and have never had a bad meal there. Â Our group of 4 arrived early Saturday night to a packed restaurant. Â Everyone was friendly and we were seated right away. Â I don't say this to be mean but our waitress had the strangest high-pitched voice (imagine Mickey Mouse) that it was impossible to listen to her for more than 2 seconds. Â Not that you could hear her over all the noise, even from 2 feet away. Â We were all thankful that the restaurant was so loud.
One of the floor managers stopped by to welcome us, and asked us to give him feedback on the meal. Â He was nowhere to be found after that, or we would have told him about our terrible experience. Â Hopefully, he reads the yelp reviews.
Our drinks took about 25 minutes to get to the table. Â Not cool. Our waitress apologized (at least I think that's what she was saying). The bartenders looked like they were working as fast as they could, so obviously, they haven't worked out all the kinks yet.
The tuna burger was good, according to my friend. Â The other entrees were not. Â My Lobster Mac n Cheese had about two small pieces of lobster. Â Not sure what happened to all the other types of seafood that were also supposed to be in there. My friend's Fried Sole was so soggy with butter or something. Â It was not crispy at all, but just soggy and greasy. Â Really terrible. Can't remember what my other friend had. Â It was not very memorable. Â
I ordered a side of kale, which was very sandy. Â I'm not sure why it was so crunchy, but it was disgusting. Â Even without the sand, it was so overcooked and topped with a giant gob of some mayonnaisse-based sauce. Â Ick.
Anyway, we won't be back. Â Aside from the terrible food, we could barely hear each other and we felt battered from all the noise after we left. Â It's too darn loud in there. Â I hope they do something to dampen the sound, like put egg-crate foam on the undersides of the tables. Â That really helps. My 2 cents, anyway. Â I hope you have a better experience there if you go.
My fiancé and I came here on Friday night (I believe the second night of its opening) and were thrilled with our experience.  The vibe in the restaurant is trendy, and its a great place for people-watching.  The bar area is wonderful and we loved the variety of speciality drinks - they even had gluten-free beer, which was a nice surprise!! Â
Food-wise, we were also impressed. Â We're both gluten intolerant, so it was wonderful to see they have a gluten-sensitive menu. Â We had an amazing appetizer (popcorn shrimp with real kettle corn popcorn) and we both had the wood-grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and a veggie side. Â Delicious! Â The one thing we were sad about was that we couldn't order the fries - my guess is that they don't have a separate, gluten-free fryer. Â But not a big deal because there were plenty of other options!
The service was great - not only was our waitress incredibly attentive, we were greeted by multiple staff members throughout our dining experience (including the GM) and asked how our experience was going.
The price was great as well, enough so that we're planning on making this our weekly Friday night date night!
I have to say that I was disappointed with my meal and drink at Legal C Bar. I am a big fan of Legal Seafood and looked forward to eating at this new location. I knew that it was a variation on Legal Seafood where I have never had a bad meal. Each person in our group ordered a signature drink to start the meal. Three out of the food drinks had 90% ice with hardly anything to drink in the glass. The appetizers were fine but my meal was such a disappointment. I ordered linguini with clam sauce that was sitting in a puddle of butter. To the staff's credit, they apologized and graciously returned the meal, unfortunately what was returned wasn't much better- heavy on the butter. My dinner companions' meals were just okay.
The staff was very perky and worked hard to be helpful. I am hoping that this is just the opening days' adjustment.
We had lunch here today, on their first day open for lunch - there was not a hiccup in the service, and our meal was great! Our waitress (Diane? I think?) was awesome - she made a few suggestions, including the merry oysters, which were significantly less expensive than the rest of the other oysters ($.89 as opposed to $2.50). We like our oysters, but I'd never heard of these, and we decided to give them a try and they were so good! We had our baby with us, and our waitress didn't even flinch when he immediately tried to eat the placemat and then threw it on the floor - she just brought him another one to play with :) The vibe here is upscale, but there were tons of families here today, and it's definitely kid-friendly.
The drink menu has plenty of options - we stuck with Harpoon stouts - all the beers are local. But, if you're into the fancy mixed drinks, there are plenty, and a great variety of wine.
We shared the blackened tuna sashimi app, which was good - not my favorite thing we ordered, but it was good. We also split a caesar salad, and the mussels - omg, the mussels. They're in a curry broth with pineapple...I have never had pineapple in my mussels, and I can't say it would be the first ingredient I would throw in my broth, but now I need more of this deliciousness, and I am so happy that this place is right down the street from our house.
The general manager came by our table a couple of times to check in, which I appreciated. And the dessert menu looked pretty good, but we had no room, so we'll be back for mussels and dessert!
