I met up with some friends here as they were working their way across America on Route 66. This place is in an awkward setting, but relatively convenient if you're downtown. The food was standard America fare (burgers, sandwiches, salad, soup, etc...). I opted for the mushroom swiss burger and really enjoyed it. However, I got the impression the burgers were frozen before. Our waiter was very prompt and he gave good recommendations to my Slovak and Scottish friends. They really enjoyed the food too.
Review Source:Absolutely great bar. Â
I had to check it out in part because my mom is a librarian and in part because I just got a good vibe from the place.
The decor is very nice, lots of wood everywhere, cozy, intimate little atmosphere, very much with the feel of a library.
The ownership was there and very friendly, even though I was only briefly visiting as an out of towner they wanted to ensure that I felt welcome and had a good experience. Â They solicited my opinion on beers and on what sort of foods I would like to see, not that their menu needed any help, but just to cover all bases.
I got some nachos that were very good, very well done and included perfectly grilled chicken, done cleanly, but still piled all with all the usual suspects of a higher end nachos.
The beer was fresh and the appropriate temperature. Â They steered me away a bit, but I got a local brew that they had that I had not previously tried because that's something that I like to do.
I ended up talking about the Thunder with a local that worked for the team and it was pretty fun. Â There's a small group of regulars that isn't stuck up, too insular or unwilling to welcome new people into the fold, friendly like Cheers, but willing to include others in the whole experience with open arms.
I went to a few nice places in OKC, but this one was the most pleasant memory and the place I'd make sure to return to visit if I ever went back, better than Cattleman's for an overall experience.
I've been remiss in posting a review of this place., but only b/c I'm disorganized, easily distracted, and lazy--but in short, as an out-of-towner, it made my trip and will be the one thing I rave about whenever OKC comes up in conversation..
I stumbled upon this place while in town in March for a convention, and being an east coast city-dweller who loves to check out the downtowns of cities I visit, I didn't go to Bricktown but headed NW from the Renaissance Hotel to grab some lunch. Waaay harder than I thought it would be!! I felt lucky to find a food court on the bottom level of an office building, but  @2:30pm on a weekday, everything was closed...EXCEPT the Library. A group of three was leaving just as I arrived, which left just me and the staff. I was warmly welcomed and seated in an extremely comfy booth. I always like to try local beers when traveling, and the bartender steered me to a great local brew , the name of which I sadly can't recall. For foodage I had the BLTG(uacomole), which was fantastic. Sitting in that comfy booth reading a book and enjoying good food and beer was the highlight of my trip.
I hope the Library makes it--to my (admittedly uninformed-of-local-culture) eyes, its location in an otherwise dumpy basement food court seemed to make it vulnerable. However, every other aspect--ambiance, service, food, drink--was absolutely stellar, and it will undoubtedly be my 1st stop should life take me back to OKC.
