It took a year-and-a-half but I finally had another meal at Loose Moose. Â This time I ordered the patty melt, fries, and a side salad. Â The fries and the salad didn't really stand out but the burger was better than I expected. Â It wasn't great but it was good enough. Â It definitely helped soak up all the green beer that I drank on the patio on St. Patrick's Day.
Review Source:Unfortunately, I will probably return to the Loose Moose, but I don't really want to. Â It is convenient for a lot of my friends and we've ended up here a couple of times. Â I really don't like the large room. Â The atmosphere is non-existant. Â Drink prices are not bad during happy hour (I think it was $10 buckets of domestics).
Be prepared for a very random crowd. Â There is everything from business professionals, to college students, and so many others. Â One night while heading to the bathroom I was approached by one of these randoms to have a punching contest on the boxing machine. Â He was not being funny or ironic, just trying to get whoever walked by to have a punching contest. Â Very strange.
The waitresses are friendly and service has always been pretty good. Â I've only been for happy hour/evening though and don't know anything about their lunch service. Â
The patio is nice if there is nice weather. Â They also have live music a lot although the latest time I was there the band sounded like a group of friends trying to do kareokee. Â
With little to no other bar options nearby unfortunately the Moose will have plenty of business. Â I just hope it isn't me.
Love the food. Â Portions r generous. Â We enjoy the sweet potato fries and all cheddar cheese balls. Â Service has always been good whether we had a party or just the two of us. Â We stayed away for about a month after they opened-- give them time to learn and perfect their processes. Â Maybe the other reviewers should give it a second try. Â We will be back for sure.
Review Source:We stopped by the Moose last Friday for Happy Hour, which was nice because they had 'domestic' buckets for $9 (5 beers to a bucket). Â I was a little disappointed that beers like Bud Light Lime are also not considered 'domestics', but I got over it. Â Food was okay, service was good, but the cavernous space kind of bugged me. Â The minimal finishes coupled with faux wooden beams just leaves kind of a generally 'unfinished' feel to the place which just doesn't sit well.
Then today, I stopped by with some coworkers for lunch, and the rumors I'd heard about the super slow lunch service were confirmed when we discovered what appeared to be one server covering the whole restaurant. Â TVs, radio and some other music source all competed for our attention, which compiled to a loud mess of sound as it echoed off the walls.
Plus, I was somewhat outraged to discover that the "melted cheddar Jack cheese" on the nachos was actually just canned cheese... this, in my opinion, is really playing fast and loose with their description. Â To borrow from a friend, "I would never describe a fake cheese that no doubt came from a can as melted jack cheese. Â This would imply the cheese was at some point solid". Â
The Moose is always super busy on Fridays (be ready for a random mix of college students, professionals, construction workers, bachelorettes and families with children), for reasons I can only imagine are convenience-oriented because personally, I wouldn't go out of my way to get here.
This place is right down the street from me, and has been packed since it opened. Â The fact that there are always cars in the parking lot more than a month after the opening really made me want to try it.
I went with some friends and we each ordered something different. Â We didn't have to wait too long for the food. Â And it really wasn't bad. Â My chicken philly had too many onions for me, but everyone else enjoyed their food.
The down side is the service. Â We saw our waitress 3 times. Â Once when she took our drink order; the second time when she brought the drinks and took our food order; and finally when she brought the check.
We all had empty glasses in front of us and would have ordered more drinks, had she come around. Â When we looked around to find her, she was busy talking to the other waitresses in the restaurant.
Hopefully, this is an isolated incident, but I probably won't go back.
We also tried the Loose Moose on Saturday night and my wife was also amazed at the quality of the nachos. Although they looked like a 5th grader made them, I actually liked the way they tasted. They had some big beer on tap special and since they ran out of glasses for it, they gave me 4 pint size beers instead, I was happy with that. Place was packed and it was tough to find a table but we did. As big as the place is, they could probably afford to add some additional tables/seating. Had fun and will definitely return as the alternative across the street is a hillbilly dump.
