Really simple - they have a credit card scam going on over here. Check the other reviews for confirmation. They took my friend's card and then um...lost it. Yes. Or rather, claimed they never had it. After a major, major scene ensued, the card was magically returned. Very bad, and very damn obvious. If you're going to steal, do it with some intelligence. Don't notify the victim in advance.
Other than that, yep - overpriced, too many men, too few girls, and often gangbanger wannabee urban style mental cases can make things dangerous for all.
They have had some incidents here on a few occassions. Stay away.
My friends and I thought this place was a great place since it wasn't far from where we lived, but we stopped going when they OVER-charged me on my card - I realized how much my tab was the next day.
I'd go here just for their Tropical Lychee...it's really good. The prices here aren't so bad either, especially when it's half off.
I went here two nights in a row, on a Thursday and on a Friday. We came back on Friday because it was supposed to be "80s night," which I wish they would've played more of, not that the other music wasn't good (a mix of hip-hop, pop, R&B, etc), but I guess I expected it to be 100% 80s. No worries, though, we danced our booties off!
The layout, look, and feel is pretty nice; provides for a relaxing feeling and atmosphere; with sectional areas you can reserve for groups, optionally separable via drapes. The place consists of relaxing, soft colors, comfortable, lounge-style sofas, if that's what you call them. I, my wife and her friends went, and we had a blast drinking it up and dancing the night away. We left at closing time, displeased at the thought we had to find another "joint" to frequent to get our freak on!
On another note, this place will cease to exist to be a "lounge" or "club" in a couple of weeks, so I've been told. It will be transformed into a "pub!"
I might be back here when it's a pub...we'll see.
Okay...let's see...let's start with the pros shall we? 10 people party, $250 for two Johnny Walker Black Labels and 12 beers for a table (not bad at all). This place has a nice environment with very strong drinks (try the traffic light or stop light.. whatever). Everytime I come here I usually walk out with a pretty nice buzz.
Cons? Let's see... walked in the lounge - music as loud as standing next the the speakers at a high school dance. Beers - warm. After exchanging the budlight - the mouth of the bottles tasted like pineapple. "Wat"
One of the dirtiest "patios" I've ever seen with cigarette burns on the couches and what not...
Last resort place...VERY last resort..
Arcadia's comin' up in the world (in my world, anyway). I had a solid sloshfest here on a Saturday night. Although you'd think you were walking into a rundown lounge since it's under the bowling alley, you are pleasantly surprised by the beautiful zen-like decor and cool vibes. The staff gel really well with one another and with the guests and drinks are strong and well-priced. The DJ made me shake my hips in my seat and if i hadn't been at a wine festival all day long, I totally would have created some smoke on the dance floor.
And all you drink nights for $25? Get it.
Been going there lately because the new management has been doing some great things.
As of now Wednesday Nights are ladies nights where it's
$15 for the girls and $30 for the guys!
Also no cover charge now on any night!!
Great deal if you ask me.
Also they are starting to have theme nights on the weekends where the waitress dress up in outfits, like sexy school girls, for example
They are also doing different things like live bands
It's changed alot in the last 6 months and all for the better if you ask me.
Great place to go even if you just wanna have a drink alone the people there are usually friendly and talkative!
I came here with my husband on Sat. night for a friend's bday. He closed out the whole place for the party. It was so cool.
As I was walking down these two set of stairs I was hanging on to my husband fearing of slipping and tripping because I was in these high ankle boots heels. So Ladies do be careful!! When we walked thru the front door there sat a big Buddha statue and I immediately thought, "hey this place is very zen"... I like the decor.
We sat at these comfortable bench and the staff were very attentive. The DJ plays great hip hop music top 40s I suppose, btw he also takes request. The dance floor is very small but they do have one. We had such a great time mingling and dancing.
I had their chicken wings and they were very good. The greygoose were fantastic because of the bottle service, the ice and tonic kept coming.
I might come back and just experience a regular bar atmosphere to see how its really like. 1020 can easily be miss because of its location, it is underground and right next to the bowling alley.
Went here on a Saturday night for my friend's birthday.
Located below the bowling alley and parked in the back.
Showed the bouncer our ID and went downstairs.
Pretty small place for a joint where everyone can lounge. They have a special deal: buy 2 greygoose and get 1 free. Which cost $160-200
There was about 12 of us and the bill came out to be $531.
This place is alright ...
This place has been changing hands over the last few years,, I grew up in Arcadia, ,,and there was a time when the Bowling Square had a cool bar INSIDE,, but this basement Joint , that is Trying to be some kind of High Class West Side hotspot, falls VERY short of being a cool place to hang out,, SUPER EXPENSIVE DRINKS!,,,Rude staff,,, I am a DJ and Musician, and when I spoke with the owner regarding Entertainment, he told me I could rent the place for private events, or I would have to Guarantee him 1500$ at the door!...(with NO ONE in the place!.on a wednesday ??..Sure bro.)...promote your own night with your own "High Drawing DJ's" ..
In Short ..A Joke...go to Pasadena
RE:Comment Below...Nope man, I could care less if you dont need my services...I have Plenty of work....This Place just Sucks!....Don't Believe me?...I can get a PITCHER of Beer Down the Street for 5$...your SPECIALS are 3$ for Cheap beer on a WEDNESDAY?..
WEAK...Go ahead..go and be disappointed....I'll spend my money elsewhere!
Came here Saturday night for drinks. If you want to come and hang out with friends, then this is a good 'lounge'. Â The atmosphere is fairly somber and private in ways. Â If you want to come meet girls or dance, try your luck elsewhere.
My biggest complaint is that drinks are too expensive here. $10 for a shot? $12 for a mixed drink? I'd rather be in Hollywood if I have to pay these prices.
I've Read a few review about this place, was hesitant about going to a place under the bowling alley in the beginning but my friends do like coming here. So far, i've been here quite a few times. The Place does have a nice decor. I also like the fact that it is so close to home, don't have to drive back so far while buzz and if i'm drunk not so far for someone to pick me up.
The drinks are quite pricy, it cost about the same as going to a club or going to most decent looking lounges. However; this is the first place where i spent less money and got buzz, i do notice that the bartenders do put more alcohol in the drink then any club i've been to. Best thing to do if you do go in a group is to get bottled services, it's cheaper than a club. A club normally is 350 for a grey goose bottle, at lounge 1020 it is about 165.
Someone mentioned fights or gangsters at this place, so far i have not seen any. Seems like a nice quiet place to chill and hangout, also i've seen more fight and more gangsters at clubs.
Music is pretty good, there's a dj wed-sat, the music played is pretty good. If you ask the DJ nicely he can play almost any song you would like to request. The Dance Floor is small but it's a lounge not a club.
Usually the people that are there are hanging out with their friends. There are some nice people that i've met there, but usually as long as your respectful to the other people they're willing to socialize. Overall, it's Good place to hangout, or have birthday parties if you don't want to hit a club or if you just want to have a couple of drink before heading home.
Mixed reviews for this place, came here on a Friday night for a friend's birthday. Showed up, no cover, just a simple pat down by the bouncer and we were able to walk in.
-Interior
As you walk down the stairs they have some dirty seats with tables so you can smoke there (very small area). They also have a bar handle on the door which was deceiving because I kept trying to pull but there is actually a door knob to open it, go me! As soon as you walk in you're greeted by a giant Buddha head, walk a little more in and you'll see the bar to the left, a high counter to chill, then the lounge itself, they also have a private karaoke room next to the bar.
The seats are nice and you can have some privacy between you and the next group but pulling a curtain, doesn't really do much though. When we came it was dead, only another group besides us but it picked up eventually. Good for large parties, but the bar can get crowded. Supposedly it smelled really bad down there but the night I went it was fine and everyone who been there before said it was gone.
-Service
Bottle service, a bottle of goose was around $160 I believe. Bartenders aren't stingy with the alcohol and some of the drinks are heavy. Had the infamous flaming lambo and it wasn't as festive as I remembered, definitely worth a try for someone's birthday; drink fast or else the straw will melt. Waitresses were friendly, they were OK as well, that night they had a Go-Go dancer as well, and you can request a song with the DJ (use the girls to request).
-Drinks
Bartenders were chill and I would say very patient, I think one flaming lambo was $15(?) and apparently it's not on their site anymore. There was a youtube video where they would just throw some 151 around the drink to keep the fire going. I didn't get a chance to try anything else they offered but their bar is fully stocked, anything you can think of they can probably make it.
So I guess some tips for coming here are:
1. Come early, you might be able to avoid the cover charge if they do decide to do it.
2. Bring your friends, a bunch of them, my experience here was great because of friends.
3. Kick back, relax, and drink, no need for any drama here.
All in all, I had a blast here, the only problem I had was the sticky floors. Also noticed the trash can next to the urinal in the men's restroom which was perfect because someone walked in as I was about to go out with his hand over his mouth and pointed him to the trashcan and he gave me the thumbs up.
we met Mr. Creepy at Monster MAssive when he tried to hit on my friend. He told us he worked at 1020 and actually seemed not so creepy once his eyes weren't rolled into the back of his head.
When I finally did make it to 1020, it was a Tuesday night and it was because my boyfriend's friends had heard it was Ladies night, ladies drink for FREeeee!!! :D Â the master plan was to send the girlfriends in rotation to smuggle drinks and get shmammered without paying a penny! (well, plus tip)
*ALWAYS TIP AT BARS EVEN IF THE DRINKS ARE FREE**
but anyways, mission failed. because it was a Tuesday.. or because we got there late.. or maybe just because the moon was full, the place was dead. and Ladies-drink-free-night turned out to be Ladies-$30-for-all-you-can-drink-night.. damn double meanings!
The decor is really nice, kinda reminds me of Tao because of the Buddha statues but its teensy weensy... so kinda like Tao's bathroom?
service was okay, the girls are cute but seem kinda stand-off ish. Mehh, you're not that hot honey.
at the end of the night, even with our 5 "Ladies Night" discounts, we were still charged $300 for an hour of drinking... and a couple orders of french fries and chicken wings. The food is expensive...... $10 an item, but the french fries are BOMBBbbb =9
Honestly I never figured this place would be this bad. Â Seriously, it seemed ok from the reviews and the pictures showed a nice decor but WOW. Â How bad can it get?
So I made a visit to this "Lounge/Club" on a Thursday night. Â First off the place had 5 bouncers standing out front of it and it's in Arcadia. Â Should have been my first sign to leave but I didn't take heed. Â I'm with 2 girls and 2 guys and the door man looks us up and down and then says $5 for the girls and $10 for the guys. Â Now my first question should have been when the hell did a place in Arcadia start charging a cover, especially on a Saturday night. Â Again, another HUGE FLASHING SIGN, but I didn't pay attention. Â I proceed to give the guy $60 and he digs in his pocket to get me change and he pulls out crumpled up ones, hands me back my money, and then try's to count out change. Â This is all out of his pocket, not a cash box or register, just his pocket. Â BURNING WARNING SIGN IN FRONT OF ME!
So we proceed to enter this place and as soon as I walk in I should have left. Â The girls I brought with me increased the female count my 200% seeing as they were the ONLY 2 women in the joint. Â It was nuts, never have I walked in a night spot and only seen guys. Â I swear we were in West Hollywood, if you know what I mean. Â It was mind boggling. Â This place has a great decor, exposed wood beams, a circular projection screen, several plasmas; the DJ was actually doing a hell of a job wit the music. Â
What I found stranger than anything was the fact that they had a go-go dancer come out after about 40 mins of being there. Â She danced for about 5 songs and left. Â I totally understand why....when she hit the stage it was like she was stripping. Â Guys trying to give her $1 bills and gawking at her the entire time she was up there. Â We honestly felt bad for the girl. Â After about 1hr and half we gave up and just left. Â The total woman count in the place was 7, including the 2 with my party, and about 40 guys. Â
This place needs to FIRE the promoter and get a real one. Â It has great potential to be a great night spot but unless the owner doesn't care about $ he needs to make some major changes.
Side note: 99% asian males here; just a heads up.
Whenever I pass by this place and see that there is an actual line of people waiting to get in (and of all places in Arcadia) I just kind of laugh. Â Finally one night out of boredom I decided to check it out and honestly, in my opinion it was just okay. Thank goodness there wasn't a cover charge or line when I went. The place itself wasn't anything special, it was kind of cool I guess, just kind of-decor wise. The music wasn't too bad.
Here are my complaints:
$12 for a (makeshift) LA dirty water! Are you kidding me!? For what seems like a 3 oz glass of mixed alcohol with ice. Oh please...you must be joking right? It looked as though the bartender wasn't even sure what she was doing.
There was a mess in the area in which my friend and I sat at. I know it was our own choice to sit there but at least keep clean up after other patrons that have already left.
I ended up smelling like cigarette smoke after leaving the place. No bueno!
I don't know why people give it 4+ stars. Either they haven't been to any other lounges, or they just choose to stay within the San Gabriel Valley. Not to say that my experience was completely terrible but I can definitely tell you that I've been to far better places that Lounge 1020 does not compare to.
I ignored my own instincts and other yelp reviews and decided to go anyway just to try it out. Oh well.
I'm biased because my promoter friend is having an event there and I'm the featured girl on the flyer :) Â I likes that, by the way! Â Â It is very small, only holds like 150, but sometimes that is cool. Â It is very nice and elegant inside. Â You would not expect that from the outside. Â It's under a bowling alley. Â The Asian cocktail girls were hot, and I likes! Â Oops, I might have revealed to much about myself there! Â I'm a straight girl, until I have two or three drinks. Â So, beware! Â The music was cool (mostly hip hop and top 40). Â They had a gogo dancer which the boys seemed to like. Â Everyone was really nice to me, and for the first time in a long time, I had no problem with creepy and scary guys trying to stalk me all night long. Â I had fun and will go back again.
Review Source:Totally cool lounge next to the Bowling alley in Arcadia. Went on a Monday Night, not too many people but my friend and I just had drinks all the way in the back, ordered at Cadillac and have no idea what I got, something in a Martini glass. The server was nice I think she said that she gave me a first time visitors discount. Anyway for sure check this out in Arcadia
Review Source:I enjoyed both my visits here. It's conveniently located near the mall, next to a bowling alley, and near lotsa places with food. Â
Parking is readily available. From the outside the location is quite hidden you have to walk downstairs for this place. Reminds me of clubs in Asia where space is limited. Not a single window around its seriously a basement lounge. The service was a bit awkward I didn't feel comfortable. The waitresses didn't seem to speak English well. As a matter of fact my first time here I was shocked to see that everyone here was Asian. I've been to clubs and lounges in China and Korea with more diversity!
Overall great experiences great fun! Before if you stay until closing Arcadia Pd will be outside watching you as you leave. Designate a driver.
If I could give zero stars, I really would.
Why, oh Lord, why did I ever think a lounge in the SGV would be cool? Â The crowd on a Thursday night was totally random, and the few people that walked in were either wearing dirty old t-shirts (like the kind you pick up at a garage sale, not the cool vintage kind), with their hair uncombed, and flip flops.... or they looked older than my parents. Â Not to mention, they wanted people to pay cover for this place?? Â Never again. Â The decor is really nice, the dj wasn't bad, but for the price you pay, you might as well head down to hollywood or another place where the crowd is cooler and doesn't cause you to shake your head in pity... for them (because they think they're wayyyy cooler than they are) or for yourself -- for being stuck in a confined space with the people mentioned above. Â
I'm really a nice person, but this place is just not worth the money or the drive.
Best Night? Ladies Night!! Wednesdays!! GO THEN!
All other nights? Do NOT GO!
Ok, so on wednesday there will be girls at this place!!! And they will dance!!! Probably get you a NUMBER (that probably will never return your calls)!! Even better there will be PEOPLE at this Place!!! And the drinks won't suck then!!!
Every other night? It sucks, it's dead and the drinks? SUCKs hands down. SUCK! Â I don't know what happened, but for all the other days, bottles came preopened and tasted like theyve been left opened for a few days in the fridge!
I've come here a handful of times, and every time has been really fun!
I drove by this place tons of times (since I used to work in the mall) and have never noticed it. One day a group of my friends decide to go their for their bday party, and that's how I found out about it. It's under the bowling alley.. and looks pretty ghetto from the outside, but once you walk in, it's completely different. The seating is nice, plush, and very accommodating. The la mei waitresses have always been nice and helpful, especially on recommending drinks. Prices (outside of their promotion days) are on the high side, so be prepared to spend. I usually play card and dice games there, along with other chinese drinking games. They have lots of promotions, so you could check those out.
Overall i will definitely be back!
Ultra sleeper, you can live in Arcadia your entire life and not know there was a lounge here. Friend brought me to this place Wed. night for the great ladies deal, totally worth it. No cover, and its all you can drink the whole night for just $15, which is cheaper than cover at clubs in Hollywood.
I would recommend this club more if only there was more "dance friendly". I know its called Lounge 1020 and not  Dance Club 1020...but on Ladies night they should understand that most girls just want to go out to dance.  The DJ was just so-so, more for background noise I guess.
The waitress are super friendly, and will suggest drinks for you to try. I love the Tropical Lychee drink! Along with drinks they will provide a big bowl of mixed chips for snacking and keep refilling it with your drinks, once they notice its going. Warning: Drinks tend to be on the sweet side.
Dim with tasteful decor and carefully planned lighting, the atmosphere for this place puts one at ease.
05.07.08: This is where being a girl has its advantages. Who knew Wednesday is the new Thursday? Well my friends use to come here all the time, I visit every now and then but I guess somehow the place just got better. So I actually come more often now.
Located below a bowling alley its private enough away from the underage crowd. Walking into the place the big buddha head suprised me a little. I didn't know if I should bow my head and continue or just walk through.
PROS:
Hot Asian Waitress: Yea I was checking them out..You can't blame me they are all wearing short skirts...ha ha..
Layout: Its a smart layout in which there are lots of sitting space as well as a nice counter bar area to stand around.
Decor: I really like the lantern style thing that hangs in the middle of the place and videos are screen on it..Pretty cool.
DJ: Live DJ! He's actually really freaking good.
Cover: NO COVER CHARGE! They better not have one since it is a freaking Wednesday. ha ha
$15 ALL YOU CAN Â DRINK FOR GIRLS! Serious they let you get whatever you want although they say its only well drinks.
Cons:
No Food..But they do have peanuts and chips for you to snack on thats nice.
No dance floor: Hmmm what's the point of a live DJ? Music is still nice tho.
Well that's it so what you say? $15 all you can drink..Girls Night Out to Come..LETS GO!!
This place is really cute. Â It's a total juxtaposition. . .being underground a ghetto bowling alley. Â I was clutching my girlfriend while we made the treacherous way down the stairs in our heels to the dark below. . .It was pretty scary since it was our first time here, and we didn't know what to expect. Â
But our fear and apprehension waned when we got through the doors. . .the lounge is chic, nicely decorated, with a great ambiance, and a relaxed feel to it. Â There were plenty of plush seats/couches available (this was Friday night), and the waitresses were super cute and friendly. Â We bought our drinks at the bar, sat down, and an attentive waitress realized we were snackless and brought out a bowl of chip-mix. Â Sweet.
The guy at the bar mixed me and my girlfriend some powerful drinks. Â I was blazing red by the end of the night, and buzzing like a bee. Â The drinks, by the way, are delicious. Â My girlfriend had the cerise fondue and the almond jello mixed drink, and I got the tropical lychee drink and the mixed berry martini. Â So delicious, we were having dessert and not cocktails!!!
i love asian bars cos, well simply put i love asian women, but the dudes there who are regulars were really chill and actually inviting, me and Billy being the only non asians at the bar (looking like the Lone Ranger and Tanto) for most the evening actually went out rather well... cute waitressess, cute bartenders, kick ass interior, its a nice bar... plus, the bartender was hooking me up with discounted drinks... it doesnt get much better than this, drinking all night and only a $57 tab... not bad, but we did tip her really well... what can I say, they're like my kryptonite n' shiet... actually we were invited back by the bartender to an event that they'll be having on thursday... (she says she has a friend for me) so it could be interesting.
*oh, things became very interesting...*
I went out of my comfort zone a few years ago and ventured out east with my Chinese buddies. Â I guess they were sick of drinking in Ktown so being the good friend that I am...thank you thank you...we went out to their neck of the woods and drank here. Â
Swanky danky...nice set up. Â Nice plush modern couches and tables, dim colorful lighting...and the bar...ooooh man...what a nice bar. Â Ktown places have something to learn...seriously. Â Shit, ANY bar should take notes. Â I love it. Â
Another first...Chivas cut with green tea. Â Sounds nasty if you've never had it...but it's seriously one of the smoothest and best tasting drinks I've ever had. Â Much props to whoever though that up. Â
But damn!!! Â It's loud as fuck in here and everyone's screaming in Mandarin or Cantonese. Â I think my ears bled a little. Â Just kidding. Â They bled a lot...haha. Â JK! Â Jokes, just jokes!
It was... good, sad, and a sucky night. Went on the NYE night, it was all fun until the cops showed up. We were all asked to leave to do head counts. Sounded as if it was a joke, I thought it might be some kind of strip show that they're pulling off on NYE night because there were cops and firemen but when they asked everyone to go, I was like WXF... are you kidding me!! Â They sure werent! Apparently, local law enforcement isnt very fond of this place so they pay a visit to this place very often. That pretty much ended our night. We decided to pack up and leave early because we felt unease to continue in drinking after knowing the cops are outside and might be waiting for DUIs.
Beware when you go. It's definitely not a place to go wild and drink up with your friends because you never know who might be outside waiting.
If this place was cheaper, I would come here more often, but its not and sometimes the service sucks. They have interesting cocktail and drinks. Sometimes it can be super crowded sometimes its empty... pretty random.
Go at your own risk...
update: Since I'm getting so much crap for my reviews because I used to work at dream, I think I should explain my opinion on other lounges. i've been coming to 1020 for years. it's a chill place to drink that is close to home, but it would not be my local watering hole unless it was cheaper its like $11ish for a cocktail. They had a really good lady's night deal, like $15 all you can drink, but I'm not sure if they still have that. The bartenders are really nice. i gave this place a 2 bc  i had a bday party here and had to walk to the bar to get extra cups or napkins bc our waitress never came by.  It does get dead here and so does dream. Sometimes i've been here and they have a small dance area and sometimes they don't. They do have good hip hop music on the weekends. I like the new decor that they have, and the ambiance is really nice. But i give it a 2 bc maybe i am spoiled by dream, and expect more alcohol for the money i spend and i didnt have the best service.
Asian bar/club located beneath a bowling alley. Â Check.
Random bouncer dude checking me for weapons. Â Check.
DJ spinning with no dance floor in sight. Â Check.
$10+ drinks, 3 to 1 dude to chick ratio. Â Check.
40-year old creeps drinking martinis. Â Check.
A fewstatue-esque waitresses and okay bar service. Â Check.
Checklist was actually making for a decent Friday night, then a gang of law enforcement stiffs (I counted cops from San Marino, Arcadia, Alhambra, an LA County Sheriff, DEA, US Marshall and parole officer) ended the night prematurely. Â There was a recent crime across the street and the cops were supposedly gathering evidence and looking for seedy characters. Â Cops are about as bad a buzzkill possible, as I learned its pretty damn hard drinking Jack in front of cops standing there with flashlights. Â WTH Arcadia, who knew you had this kind of drama.
So this was our second stop last night and the only reason we even ended up here was because we couldn't find the other place we wanted to check out.
This place is really small and cramped. Â The place is full of nice decor, black walls and red couches fill the bar. Â There's an island between the bar and the couches which makes it a little hard to move around. Â
Most places are fairly busy on Thursday but this place was DEAD, the music was horrible. Â The bartender that served us was cute and really nice, even had a smoke with her on her break. Â The drinks were overpriced, around $14.00. Â The beer selection was awful, I think they only had 5 or so. Â Probably would've been good for a big group because we would've had the place to ourselves. Â Though they did give us chips & salsa and Munchies.
This place is crazy boring. It was dead and they pretty much forced bottle service on us because they kept telling us to sit down and to not crowd the bar. Bottle service was meant for getting away from the crowd, kind of defeats the purpose when there is no crowed to avoid.
$400 bill for one bottle of grey goose and random juice....not even the costco 1.75 liter either, it was that trashy one you get at Albertsons for 30 bucks. The people were in their own group and world, with which seemed like no prospect to meet new people. It made me think why not just drink in your garage? Just straight depressing.
Ladies should head there every Wednesday so they can drink all they want for $15!
Lounge 1020 is nice inside and they played some happenin' music on their round screen, such as Robin Thicke. The scene was totally not hipster or pretentious and the waiters/waitresses were really friendly and helpful. One time they had a large group order ahead of us so it took them a while to get my friend's drink, but she apologized so that was cool!
Even on Ladies Night, I didn't see any dancing or crowds. It was just a nice, relaxing place to just sit and talk. The seats were a little uncomfortable unless you have a big group. They didn't allow us to get our own private, drape room-thing because it was reserved for big groups... but there was nobody in them! That was disappointing because the seats on the side didn't have corners so my friend and I couldn't talk facing each other.
Aside from that, their mixed drinks were about $12 each and they tasted good. However, the waitress pointed out that their mixed drinks were not meant to be strong, but taste good. Thus, they were a little weak. I really liked the Almond Jello and Lychee Soda. Some are hit or miss.
I didn't scour the nearby restaurants, but does anybody know any good late-night places to dine at after drinking here? Most places looked closed when we got out, but we ate at this great hole-in-the-wall, Thai Classic Restaurant, across the street before going in that night. Unfortunately, Thai Classic Restaurant closes at 10 pm, but even worse, they closed even earlier than their stated time.
Aside from that, this place felt comfortable, had good music and the service was great. I would definitely make return trips to Lounge 1020.
At first glance, you think you're going to a seedy place because this place is on the basement level of a bowling alley. But, once inside, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Â The decor is zen minimalist, it's dimly lit, and you are greeted warmly by the hostess and/or waitresses.
The drinks are on the pricey side ($12 for cocktails and they also serve by the bottle) but you're paying for the ambiance so suck it up. There is a DJ spinning during the late evenings but no dance floor. The crowd is mostly asian and the eye candy and male to female ratio was different each time I went.
I believe they still have Wednesday nights as ladies night - you pay $10 cover and you get an open bar.
It's a litte loud inside so if you want a place to have an intense dialogue with someone, go to a starbucks. 1020 is a nice local spot to hang out and grab a drink at.
Its Tuesday and I am sitting here but barely able to keep upright from the drinks that I killed at the 1020.
This is a pretty classy joint for a basement and though you might think.. " What this foo doing at a place at 1020 on a Tuesday night? Yer be right. I am a fool but I am on the prowl for a drinking hole that doesn't require a friggin long as drive all the way to Hollywood and wanted to scout it out before the weekend."
First off the decor is nifty, even a score above a joint like Moods because number one.. its located in a basement.. that gives it the cool Underground vibe like you are descending into the land of Naughty.
But is this a get jiggy and boogey like there ain't no tomorrow? Can't say.. few places are far out and happening on a Tuesday night. However this is an uberistic place to bring a friend, chat and maybe on one of the cosy couches make out till they kick your ass right out of there.
Drinks that did me in tonight. A Pear thingy...cooler maybe. A 1020 special martini of some kind.. I dinna can remember too clearly as I write this..a Corona and the mother of all kicking my ass drinks and making me its bitch.. a Flaming Lamborghini. Sweet Jesus on Pancakes with Honey butter and syrup ... this drink freaking floored me 15 minutes after.
There were two dudes playing some jazz on the guitar tonight.. added to great ambience yet not the kind where you kick it and just sink it in.. more of the you listen up and try to pay attention cos there ain't alot of people in here right now and if you don't all their efforts maybe for naught.
This is and should be considered a total Asian joint.. it was a dude fest tonight with the guys out numbering the girls 4 to 1 or something.
The waitress was awful nice though the drinks were a little on the expensive side, yet this place is what you would call corporate.
Yer paying for the class, the ambience and the absence of ghetto behavior. Not a place to dance.. on a weekday.. but definitely a quiet let's sit, drink and chat till the big 2 arrives and everyone goes home.
Flaming Lamborghini.. try it out its pretty good here and two would send you into that happy place where its gonna take all your goddamn reserves to roll home in one piece.
This place kicks more ass then a place called Opium in the City of Industry but at Opium for 20 bucks you can tank till you are  sunny side up and over easy.  Here you will shell out alot more but the vibe and class don't come free pal.
If I am making any sense...:P its a wonder.. time to hit the sack and look for the next Yelp on the morrow.
edit: ADDED ANOTHER STAR CUZ DEEJAY SPUN TRIBE TONIGHT...YEA..ON POINT PHIFE? ALL THE TIME TIP!
I saw some good reviews on yelp about this place so my gfs and I decided to stop by and check it out on a Saturday night. The decor of the place was very modern and chic and the music rocked...the dj didn't just play the popular KIIS fm crap, he actually played some Ditty, Method Man, City High and the old school hip hop I like...that in itself is 5 stars. The only gripe I have about this place was that it was small and the scene was very asian. No eye candy so I just kept checking out the waitresses in their tight and tiny black outfits...hey, there was nothing to look at! I also thought their cocktails were mucho expensivo...12$ a drink...and it didn't taste all that great. 20$ minimum a person Fridays and Saturdays...but I guess its something to do if you're in the area craving for some drinks and music.
First off, this is a very asian lounge spot. Â It felt like I was back in taiwan. Â Went there on a sunday just to chill and it was pretty dead. Â It does have a nice decor has some extra comfy couches, a screen to watch music videos and a very micro dance floor. Â I think the drinks are pretty expensive above $10 not even worth it for this lounge.
