As a native New Yorker, I take pizza pretty seriously. In Carmel, it's impossible to find anything close to the big honking slices of cheesy crusty greasy goodness that I'm accustomed to. While Luca's isn't as good as Bella Pizzeria, I think it's a close second. Much better than other local chains such as Puccini's and Mellow Mushroom and Bazbeaux.
Also, for the girl who walked in 10 minutes before close and was denied service--pizza takes at least 15-20 minutes to prepare. Most restaurants start closing their kitchens 30-40 minutes prior to closing time. I work in a kitchen, and when people walk in right before we close, we give them death stares. At least this guy had the balls to tell you to go home. And on that note, I give this place 4 stars!
Luca is pretty good. It's close to work and very quick- Can't beat that! Every time I've been in, the only two employees I've ever seen have been very friendly.
I was able to get pizza and a couple pepperoni-stuffed bread sticks for $6. Cha Ching! Â
If you've never had Luca Pizza before, it's really thin pizza, but big- like, bigger than my whole face. I'm not sure exactly how they do it, but they make pizza, then they throw the slice(s) that you order back in the oven to warm them up. They're a bit greasy, but soooo good.
