This could've been just a bad night, but my first time at Luigi's was mediocre.  I went with a friend to get some italian food, and was hoping for a nice atmosphere to talk.  It surprised us that the second half of the restaurant, where all the two person tables were located, wasn't available at 7 pm.  We were instead taken to the larger group section and given a table for four.  The decor was nice, but with the large groups of people, it wasn't always easy to have a conversation at normal speaking levels.  But I digress.  I ordered the meat ravioli dish, and my friend ordered the chicken pasta.  Both came out in reasonable times, and in large portions.  Definitely a plus.  However, I was a little disappointed with the raviolis.  Although they give you a lot, each individual ravioli is so thin with the wrapping so thick, that it tasted like I was eating giant chunks of pasta and not the meaty ravioli I desired.  My friend's chicken pasta was pretty good.  Overall service was nice, but it is a bit on the expensive side (for what you get).  I'd personally rather go to Ninettes or Red Bank for my italian cravings, but wouldn't be against trying Luigi's again.  I think this place would be worth it in a large group, but I wouldn't advise it for a date or a casual two person dinner.

I've been eating their Chicken Parm for the past decade -- best in Monmouth County. Excellent dish called "Chicken Luigi" as well, get it with  Linguine!

Usually I can count on Luigi's to deliver awesome food whether dining in or taking out. But the last two times I have been there, Thursday, April 7th and again today, April 22nd. the food was BURNT! On the 7th I dined in and I received burned bread to the table. The service was very slow and although the entree was it's usual wonderful, my glass was empty and I had nothing to drink for my entire meal. Today I ordered a pizza for pick up. It was burned! Hey! Luigi! Pick it up!

I don't know what going to culinary school means if you go to Luigi's and don't recognize high quality, fresh and authentic Italian entrees and pizza. I have been going to Luigi's for years, where the service is always welcoming and the food is absolutely delicious...and you can get what you want without pushback from the staff or kitchen. Not to mention it's a really cozy place and BYOB.  It's a definitely reliable night out anytime in my book, and I guess i'm glad i can recognize quality, value and a great atmosphere when i see it without my "education" getting in the way! GO!

Their pizza is pretty good (note largest round pizza is actually ordered/considered "medium"?! Their "large" is a sheet pizza. The veggie roll with side of sauce is my favorite!!!

I used to attend BCC just cuz my parents expected me to go to college. Well, a pizza diversion was in order from time to time. Luigi's is one of those pizza joints that embodies how a real Italian pizza should taste. Dude, I could only dream I am sinking my teeth into a slice right now.
