I had the Thai salad with chicken, it was good, no wow factor, which for the price & atmosphere was pretty good
    Nice outdoor patio, with good

Maggie McFly's is a big place with a little parking lot. THATS the first thing to know! They offer valet parking on the weekends.

This place reminds me of a nicer TGI Fridays. The menu is about 16 pages long, but there are few goodies tucked in here and there. Especially on the dessert page.

Bar is a good size, but this place has the possibility of getting loud and obnoxious. There seems to be a steady stream of too-old frat boys who like to party and drink and be very boisterous. Which is fine for some, others hate to be around that sort of scene. The bartenders are always very nice, sometimes forgetful, but nice.

The food usually hits the spot for me, as I am there at the end of kitchen hours and just trying to get some quick food after a long work shift.  I stick to the appetizers, and the nachos have seem to been the best so far. Artichoke and Spinach dip seemed to have more cheese in it than any of the other ingredients, and was  a bit disappointing.

Like I mentioned earlier, take a piece of carrot cake home with you, and it might make the experience a little better.

I'd been interested in visiting Maggie McFly's for a while - greet the new restaurant in town - but tonight was my first actual visit. We arrived at about 6:30, found an actual parking space in the lot, and were quickly guided to a table. There were some other people waiting, but I think they were in larger parties that needed something bigger than a booth.

Maggie McFly's has a very open interior, with lots of small light fixtures suspended everywhere. The color scheme is mostly dark wood with orange seat cushions, which rather surprised me. I haven't seen that color used much since the 70s, and I'd rather assumed (from the name, I suppose) that the dominant hues would be green. Expectations aside, it all has a comfortable and oddly contemporary feel.

The menu is enormous. It comes with think front and back covers, which emphasize rather than obscuring the large number of pages between. They list a large number of wines, beers, and cocktails, but I did have to ask what was on draft, and quickly ordered a Back East Ale as soon as our waitress named it.

Being somewhat hungry, we ordered an appetizer sampler, comprised of chicken wings, tex-mex egg rolls, and a spinach/artichoke dip. They were all competently done, and served on a vertical rack rising from the table. The dip was accompanied by a couple of different breads as well as sliced broccoli, carrot, and red pepper - and quite a lot of all of them.

We both ordered the same special, which was a beef filet with a blackberry sauce. That's a bold and potentially risky combination, but this really did shine. The sauce used the tartness of the blackberry to compliment the steak, while at the same time the fresh blackberries that adorned the plate were the sweetest I've ever had of that often-sour fruit. It's an impressive dish.

The primary reason I'd never visited Maggie's before is that it had always seemed really crowded - more than once I've driven around the parking lot and then headed out again. And it was certainly full tonight, and loud. Even when the dinner rush was waning, and the booths were starting to empty, the noise level stayed high. The clientele seemed to be mostly families. I saw plenty of young children, and more than a few seemed to have grandparents with them as well.

With well-executed food, good staff, and flashes of brilliance, this is a place I'll make an effort to return to.

Literally my favorite place! The drinks are great, staff is amazing-Derek and Chris are just awesome! The menu is huge, not as big as cheesecake but anything we have ever tried is always excellent. The buffalo blasts and the macaroni balls are the best things ever!

First visit was horrible sadly.  We had very high hopes of trying something new and Maggie McFly's happened to be the place of choice.  Our party had 3 adults, a child and an infant.

Waitstaff we had was a bit on the anti-social side and the food wasn't anything special for the price.  Needless to say, we ordered cheapest items we could find and ended up with a $75.00 bill (with tip).

What an insult that you advertise "build your own pasta" and charge extra for the meatball.  Here's another insult - you advertise "kids meals" and have to pay EXTRA for the drink.  I feel like I could have gone to Chili's or Cory's K&M (in Manchester) and gotten better quality food  and service for $20.00 less.

Lesson learned.  Not worth the money and NOT family friendly, I'd advise others to look into putting their money toward a more worth while dining experience.  Sadly, there is nothing unique about this place other than how loud it is in comparison to most other restaurants.

    Hello?! Hello?! Think McFly, Think!

Yes, there were a few service miscues, but all in all I am looking forward to going back here again soon. As others have said, they have a HUGE menu.  This restaurant is where Houlihans used to be, and luckily they have kept the same family-friendly, but not madhouse, vibe that Houlihans had.  They also have a separate bar area and an extensive wine and cocktail list. There was a martini that I had my eye on, but I decided to wait until next time to try it.  The burger I had was good, and the fries were very good. The kids pizza easily served to little ones. And get the table side s'mores for dessert. They come with real Hershey bars.

Love this place!  Great selection and so much to chose from.  Been there a few times since they opened a couple of months ago and have yet to find something that no one liked.  Can get a bit loud when the place gets busy.

We came on a Saturday night around 8 and were told it would be about 45 minutes. Luckily it was only about 15 or 20, so that was nice. I'm guessing they like to under-promise and over-deliver. Anyways, it took our waitress about 10 minutes to get to us, saying that she didn't realize we were there. That's ok because the menu is enormous and we hadn't decided.
Side note, nothing to do with service or food but the bathroom stalls here are ridiculously small and 3/4 were completely out of toilet paper. Try not to even bother using the bathroom, seriously. The doors open into the stalls so to get out, your legs are pretty much guaranteed to be plastered against the toilet while you squeeze through the tiny little gap. Disgusting.
Back to dinner, I had the French country salad to start. It arrived quickly and was delicious. I had the bacon & egg burger and asked for crispy onions instead of raw, plus avocado. The avocado was great and the burger was cooked to a perfect  medium rare, BUT the egg yolk was solid (sad) and they didn't sub the onions. If I hadn't noticed and picked them off I would have been pissed.
The primary miscues came when my husband's second beer sat awaiting delivery to our table for Idk how long before our waitress noticed it wasn't in front of him. Then, once my husband put his card down, it was honestly about 20 minutes before a different lady came by and asked if we needed our check picked up. Our waitress showed up 30 seconds later. It just took too long. We should have been out of there a half hour earlier.
Very loud from large parties full of cackling women, but there was a good solo acoustic act. At least 10 birthdays happened while we were there, which was annoying because the staff sings and has exploding confetti poppers. No thanks.

Our party of 6 arrived around 5:30pm and we were seated right away (5 adults, 1 kid). We really liked the new look of the place, having last been inside when it was Houlihan's. They swapped the bar over from one side of the room to the other. Everything inside looked more high-end, but they didn't touch the bathrooms, and it showed. The doors on the stalls of the ladies room have really taken a beating. One was held up with duct tape. Not a good look. The paper dispenser inside the wall was falling off the wall. It was clean though, which for me is the most important thing.

The service was prompt and polite. Our waiter was very helpful in making recommendations and making sure we knew that since things are cooked to order, they can accommodate the picky people in our group who didn't like one thing or another. The drink service was a little weird, with the bar order arriving before soda though by about 5 minutes.

The menu was HUGE. REALLY HUGE. It was so big I was a little worried about how good the food would be, knowing they were cooking so many different things. Thankfully, this wasn't a problem.

Food timing was a little off. We had either almost or just barely finished appetizers when food started showing up - and then one entrée was missing...for a while. However, when it did come, the server took the order off the bill for us without us even raising a fuss over it. Everyone seemed to enjoy their order - 4 of the 6 got burgers cooked exactly as ordered. I can't remember the other 2 orders now since it's been a couple of weeks.

I will say that this place is incredibly LOUD. We noticed it right off when we got in, and while the restaurant was over 1/2 full when we arrived, it sounded like there were an extra hundred people running around. Everything seems to echo.

I think we'll go back again and try it out. The food was definitely worth another go.

If you see my other reviews I hope I send the message that I take a lot of care in what I write...show me someone working hard and having a bad night over someone who plops a place in town and doesn't care and I will give some leeway. I like to think MM is in the hard worker category...the people are nice.

Went to Maggie's McFly's with twelve on Saturday later afternoon...reservations etc.

They handled the addition of two extras with aplomb...not an issue...I was impressed...then it started...

Holy cow...drinks were all messed up...we ended up with alot of extra beer, sat for ten minutes for a diet Coke...servers seemed to be teamed up but lacked coordination.

Then the food...not bad...just screwed up...entrees before apps,  mistakes  on the orders...and I had the edamame dumpllings...well little edemame beans wrapped in rice paper...I mean...yea...just beans...bland and boring...recipe needs tweaking.

Ambiance is ...loudest place I have ever been in...OK if food and service is good...it can be fun...

Now the parking lot...I had to walk across the street...like...200 yards and no one has shoveled the path from the street...it wasn't lack of spaces...it was that three cars were going in the wrong direction and we all met in front...people honking,  giving the finger....valet?  what valet...not a soul in sight...this spot has always had parking issues...needs some creative thought.

Mr Harper...  MM has a local feel...don't let it turn into a chain......put you face, name up on your web site...let people know who you are... visit your restaurants ...alot...and shake everyones hand and tell them you are the owner...get to know your staff so they see you in the trenches,...get dirty with them (stop it)...work the line, serve desserts ... and sweep the floor with one of those small brooms and dust pansand let people see you doing it.... talk to everyone...you will build tremendous loyalty and get some leeway when things don't go right...owner visibility is a key to success...

I came here on a Saturday night for dessert/cocktails around 8:30pm with a group of 6 and the place was completely packed-- we were given an estimated 30 minute wait and were seated in about 15-20 minutes. From the outside, this place looks like your standard restaurant/bar but inside, it's far more upscale/trendier than I had expected. They had a guy playing acoustic guitar singing some classics and current songs-- he was pretty good and the group and I really enjoyed him!

We were seated in the bar area and our waitress was very friendly! She highly recommended that we try the warm chocolate lava cake with their featured icecream flavor--peppermint. My fiance and I split that after her recommendation, another couple got the same but with chocolate icecream and the other couple split the caramel apple xango. The bar area itself is huge and they have a few TVs--perfect for watching games. There is also an outdoor patio which has doors leading from the main bar area with a large, long fire pit out front that was basically a cigarette smokers' dream as there were tons of people crowded around it, standing around smoking.

The chocolate lava cake was standard-- possibly bought frozen and then heated? but it satisfied my chocolate craving and the icecream was awesome (handcrafted from holy cow in Newtown). The peppermint was really delicious-- very creamy and not too overpoweringly minty, just perfect and it really did pair well with the molten cake. The major negative was that both the molten cakes came out a good 10 minutes before the caramel apple xango-- we felt bad eating our desserts in front of them, but the icecream was melting and left us with no other choice. When we asked the waitress, she offered no apologies but said that the xango took longer because "it had to go into the deep fryer." I would have thought the restaurant could have prepared for this and started the xango first and heated up our molten cakes when it was almost ready.

The place itself definitely had more of a bar vibe/was really loud-- a good place to get drinks and hang out with friends.
3 stars for the ambiance/live music. 2 stars for the dessert.

I have now visited Maggie McFly's in Glastonbury twice.  I am pleasantly surprised!  The food is good and I love the atmosphere.  Each time (one weekday and a Saturday evening) the restaurant was packed!  I think it's going to do well there in Glastonbury.

Visited Maggie McFly's on a snowy Saturday night.  My party of 4 was seated immediately in a very comfy round/corner style table.  Service was fantastic - attentive and speedy without hovering.  Server was charming and knowledgeable.

HUGE variety of menu items - almost too many to choose from.  Blue cheese burgers were dy-no-mite.  Hubby said the lobster mac and cheese was okay - not bad but not stellar.

Prices were reasonable.  Atmosphere was open, fun yet high backed seats provided privacy.  This is NOT a fast food burger joint - it's a family friendly, upbeat restaurant No slimey pick up artists, players or people looking to 'hook up' - at least in the dining room area.  (Can't speak to the bar scene.)

It is nice to be served a grown up meal on a real plate with a cloth napkin.

Just wish there were coat hooks beside the tables for out coats. :-)

Here are one man's thoughts after three weeks into launch period:

Atmosphere / Vibe:  Much more upscale than I would have imagined.  Actually went with my wife, five year old son and neighbors who had a 2 year old.  I think we all thought this would be a local version of your basic bar and grill concept, but immediately felt that the bill was going to be higher as we walked through the door and saw leather clad booths, wine closet and very modern appearance.  Not a bad thing, per se, but don't go expecting a middle-class, kid friendly environment.  More of an adult focused establishment.  One very odd thing:  The floors are extremely slippery...honestly, I felt like I could glide across them in my shoes...Not sure why that is, but could easily see a slip and fall in Maggie's future...Liked the bar area in particular...Very nice presentation of televisions and bar very well stocked.

Service:  Service was OK.  Will chalk up the lack of menus to new restaurant glitch.  We were only given 2 menus for 4 adults and another server came over after 5 minutes to ask if we still needed them!  I will say that the menus are leather bound and very nice, but if it comes at the expense of sharing one amongst 2-3 people, I'll go with a cheaper version, thanks.  Service was slow to start in taking drink and food orders, but food / drink came out at good pace once orders were taken.

Food / Drink - Three of the group ordered burgers and one ordered a salad.  Kids had chicken nuggets. Each couple split a French Onion Soup.  We all had beer (with exception of kids, of course!).  Everything was very...ok...Nobody commented that the food was great and when you look at the prices being charged, that is the expectation you are setting.  Burger platters (burger and fries) were $11 - $13, salad I believe slightly more, and beers were all $6+.  When you decide to put yourself in this price range, you are going up against the likes of Max Burger and Plan B and the food was not up to par.

When everything was tabbed up for two burger platters, a kid's chicken nuggets, 3 beers, and a French onion soup...total bill (tax / tip inc) came to $70...let me repeat...$70!  And I know I could have gotten the same amount of food / drink for the same (or lower) price from Plan B and the food would be that much better.  Which is  exactly what I explained to our neighbors and will be the next place I take them to.

I get what Maggie's is trying to do here and appreciate them trying to make a location work that has failed so many times in the past.  Location is ideal for us and having a fun restaurant there would be awesome.  Just not there right now and would not expect the place to last when others in the area are doing the exact same thing and doing it better / cheaper.  Perhaps a deal comes up down the road (Groupon, etc) that provides another chance to try.  For now, will stick to more tried and true bar and grill establishments...

First time to the new addition to Glastonbury. Went for lunch. Lunch menu was easy to get thru but I don't know if I have seen a menu like this one since seeing my first Cheesecake Factory menu.

Krystal was our server and she was absolutely wonderful. She helped us with the menu. I'm always a little worried when they do Mexican, burgers, Italian, Thai, you name it it's in that menu. Krystal suggested one of her favorites  and it was very good. Rolls where brought to the table but since kind of dried out and nothing special I ate one and my wife at a half of one. The rest we left.

My wife enjoyed her lunch as well. If you knew me you would know I like large portions and mine made me very happy. I thought the prices where very good. I have to say that when the bathrooms are not clean we all wonder how clean the kitchen is? That scared me. The restaurant looks so nice but the restrooms are something else. I would go back to try something else.
