5 rating is for wings, however the pizza is a surprising 4+, while the burgers are an average bar burger 3, at least all the burgers are reasonably priced at $6.99 not the $9-$10 some places charge for the same. The wings are fried, sauced, then grilled, so they dont coming swimming in some pool of gloppy franks red hot based sauce like most places, these actually have distinct flavors, favs are spicy bbq, tough guy, and flaming a##hole, which, to my chagrin, is a surprisingly appropriate name. Bartenders, waitstaff, always very friendly.

Food here is pretty disgusting...I don't like wings, so maybe they are good, but the rest of the menu is pretty gross.

I really love the wings here.  This place used to so good and affordable.  Lately their prices are creeping up and the service is getting worse.

Drinks are far to expensive for what this bar is...Sports bar that only plays local games and has limited appeal these days. Quite outdated in every aspect. Use to be a great bar, but with the expensive drinks, filthy glasses, ever declining kitchen its just a dive bar with overpriced drinks.

I went there this past Sunday for the Packer Game. My friends and I stayed there for the entire game and ordered food. I tried their boneless wings with their homemade Hot Sauce called Touch Down..I believe that was the name. I like spicy and it was just the right temperature! They were really good! Service was really good to. Bartenders and Servers were really tentative.

    I will be returning!

An update: I have been here almost every Wednesday for wing-night since my first review. The service is still really friendly and we hardly ever have issues (they get really busy so we forgive a missed bleu cheese or two).

While the sampler platter isn't the best the burgers are awesome!

Go here, if you like dive bars and American food, you will not be disappointed.

Magoo's is fun.  A typical Wisconsin tavern with a lot of space, a lot of flat screen TV's and a fun but laid back staff and clientele.  I have to say they do a great job of social marketing.  Become a member of their text club and you'll stay on top of all their (quite amazing) specials such as free bloody marys on a Saturday during a Badgers game.  And these are decent bloody marys!  It is definitely not fancy or chic but it is a down to earth tavern with good food and drinks to be had for all.

    1. 30min before our order was taken, another 45 until we got our food.
    2. Wings and fries were cold.
    3. When the check came, the total was inflated. We asked our server, and she said the price of wings was acutally 60cents instead of the 50cent price on the menu. We asked for a manager. The manager comes out, tells us tough luck, and says if we wern't going to come back, then he didn't care what we thought anyway.
    4. The manager proceeded to insult my mother in front of customers when she argued that this was bad business practice.

Conclusion: Go to another wings joint, or even a BWWs. This guy does not deserve paying customers. Complete a**hole.

Great wings, so-so service. That is the general feeling about Magoo's. And up until my latest visit, the quality of the wings has been enough to keep me coming back (occasionally, mostly on their Wednesday-night specials).

I was there with a group of people on Wednesday night for their 50-cent wing special, and it was going about as expected...slow service, one basket of wings came out cold...little mistakes that you put up with for good wings.

Then our bill came, and was noticeably higher than we had expected. I asked the waitress to explain the breakdown and she immediately said that, oh yeah, the 50-cent wings were changed to 60-cent wings two weeks ago and that "the new menus haven't been printed yet." This change was posted nowhere in the restaurant or anywhere online, and no one informed us about the change until we asked why the bill was too high. Having ordered 70 wings total, it made a slight difference in our bill ($7 for those who don't want to math).

While I was slightly annoyed by the underhanded attempt to overcharge us, I was sure that once explicitly called out, they would change our bill. Instead, the owner came out and tried giving us some line about how chicken prices have gone up, to which I quickly interrupted and stated that our only issue was that they put one price on the menu, and charged a different price on the bill--which is ILLEGAL.

The owner's response: "Well then call a lawyer." and as he walked away from our table, "If you're not going to come back, then what's the difference?"

Magoo's M.O. remains the same: good wings with low-quality service. But this particular incident sheds some light onto WHY their service is so poor. They know that they have good wings, and see their customers as nobody they need to please--a dissatisfied customer is easily replaced by a new customer.

HOWEVER, the wings are not SO good that they are worth such callousness. There are plenty of other good wing joints in Milwaukee that respect their customers; Steny's, Points East Pub, Johnny Mo's, Brewski's and Colonel Hart's, just to name a few.

I guess this what you would expect for a West Allis bar.

The decor & set up were okay - it was hard to determine whether or not we should wait for someone to seat us or if we should seat ourselves. Services was so-so and so was the food.

If you want a bar with a better atmosphere and better food, I would suggest going elsewhere.

Has all the makings of a nice down home place but does not live up. Food and wings are pedestrian, place is dirty and the service unfortunately is poor. Better places to go, many better places.

Saturday afternoon and we are hungry, what to eat?  So we headed on over to Magoos to check it out.  Haven't been here in many many years so it was like new all over again.  Bartender / waitress was so very nice.  She was really fun and friendly.  Comfortable upstairs for dining out of the way of the actual bar area.  Menu has a good selection of sandwiches and apps.  We had burgers which were pretty good.

Neighborhood bar that has been around for many years.  Friendly staff and easy eats.  Nice place - check it out if you are hungry and in the area.

I used to come here a lot for wings. Every week for years. Something changed with the prep. Now it taste like they precook them and refrigerate. You can tell by the sauce that is on the wings. It's already soaked into the skin. They are also really dry now. It's a shame because this used to be one of my favorite wing spots. Now the best thing here is the house made ranch dressing.

Went here for lunch today after having driven by two times a day for the last 16 years. I had 20 wings with their "moron" sauce', their hottest. The wings were huge, dry rubbed whcih gives the wing meat a great flavor on it's own and grilled and basted with the sauce.  I can eat extremely hot stuff and would have liked something with more zing but these tasted really good. The bartender was the server and he was right on point. A nice, comfortable West Allis sports bar which does an excellent job..AYCE cod loin fish fry for $10.99  which looked really good too..

Magoo's is as Good as it gets for one Reason... The Wings.
These are in my opinion the best Chicken Wings in the City.
    If you like:

    -Big and Meaty Wings
-The best Home Made Blue Cheese Dressing you can find
    -Wings that are Never Breaded
-Wings that are Fried and then Grilled to give them a crispy and smoky flavor
-Wings that are lightly sauced but packed with flavor.
-Spicy BBQ Sauce.  (This is my favorite Flavor and the One that everyone I bring there agrees is the best)

    Then Magoos is for you.

The other food is good but not spectacular, The bar always has good specials going and plenty of sports on. Not Fancy, not trendy, just a good honest Milwaukee Drinking Establishment with Awesome Wings.

Recently went to Magoo's for dinner Friday night with my boyfriend, sister, and her boyfriend. We were in the mood for bar food and that was exactly what we got. When we walked in, it was pretty awkward. You could see the dining area directly to the left and the busy bar directly to the right. There wasn't any signage about waiting to be sat or anything so after a couple helpless minutes we went up to the dining area and easily found a table enough for the four of us. It seemed like everyone knew everyone there, very casual laidback atmosphere which was really refreshing, but a little too laid back because 20 minutes probably went by until anyone even acknowledged us, so if you're looking for a quick in and out, this probably isn't the place. After this, service was good and a couple different staff members came by to check on us, refill our drinks, etc.

I went off recommendations from other yelp reviews and we made sure to get wings (hot and medium) and the macho nacho. My sister's boyfriend also got the friday fish fry, which from the menu seemed like a great deal with it being all you can eat and $8.00 but when he ordered the waitress informed us that it was no longer all you can eat and about $5.00 more than listed. He got it anyways and it was pretty much what you would expect, nothing spectacular. Wings were delicious. I am not a wing eater, but these I loved. Its a dry rub, none of that sticky sauce, and comes with the choice of ranch or bleu cheese. Only tried the medium because I'm a wimp and it was just spicy enough. my boyfriend at the hot wings, which he said were fine, not as spicy as he had hoped but still good, nothing mind blowing, but hes a wing eater... Now, the macho nacho.... it is $9 and worth every penny. Comes out on a large pizza pan but I wouldn't call it a "mountain". It fed the four of us perfectly and was really yummy. Definitely get it! Its not the most authentic, with that fantastic gooey cheese sauce but everything else on it tastes fresh. Its perfect. Get it.

Great little place, really good prices for the most part and I'm positive we will definitely be back.

Some of the best bar food in Milwaukee (k, 'Stallis) everything is always hot and fresh. Their fish fries are one of my favorites, really good beer battered cod, and even decent clam chowder. Their other food is just as good, great wings, even pizza. Their text club also has a lot of good deals, definitely lures me in more often.

I attended a private party at Magoo's. Here's the breakdown:

    - convenient location? yep.

    - ambiance. nope. none whatsoever. it's a west allis corner bar.

    - efficiency of accommodation: excellent. the guy in the kitchen even brought out a wooden platform to cover the pool table so the lot of us could more efficiently belly-up to the trough for eatin'

    - food: this was a "chicken wings party" but i ordered the chicken tenders & fries instead of wings. the food was quite good for fried bar food--in an "extra crispy" way, if you know what i mean! ;)

Our first stop on the #Birdy30 Tour of Wings.

I called a few days ahead of time to let them know we would be bringing a group of people in to eat wings for a Birthday party.  I was the annoying person who said I would be in between 6pm-9pm and would have anywhere from 5-15 people with me.   They seemed extremely happy to have us, and even said we could take the party room on the lower level that had a tv, pool table and seating for about 25.

We got there about 6pm on a Friday night.  It wasn't really busy, a few regulars at the bar and another dozen tables full for their fish fry in their upper lever dining room.

Everyone at the bar was extremely friendly and seemed genuinely happy to have us there.  We ended up having over 40 people come, but the staff were Great with making sure we had everything we needed.

Everyone was ordering food separately and the staff had a handle on the whole thing.

The wings were pretty good.  They were breaded with a wide range of flavors to choose from.  Definitely a place to check out if you are looking for good wings.

As it got later, the crowd changed to a much younger crowd that all congregated around the bar and a door man was placed at the door to check id's.  When we left at midnight the place was pretty busy and seemed to be the local spot for the 20-something crowd in West Allis.

Was there for Cassie D's Birdy30 party and I agree with her review.

There's just not much to say. It's a local bar. Everyone around the bar knew each other and the bartenders. However, they were friendly and talkative and welcoming.

We were in a "side" room that was both to the side and down a couple of stairs. The only problem is that the doorway to the kitchen is down there too and we were pretty constantly asked to move so someone could get through with a tray of food.

But the food! We had teriyaki wings and they were pretty tasty - but didn't taste anything like teriyaki. The wings are made on the grill and they retain a very strong "grill smoke" flavor on them. It was tasty, but overpowered any flavoring they may have had. My bf and I shared an order of wings, a half order of nachos and an order of the cheese fries and were plenty fool.

The table behind us got the full order of nachos and it literally came on a pizza plate. They were as huge as advertised. Since it was just the two of us, we got the small order, but the bigger one looked more appetizing. The small order is in a paper boat/basket so the chips are piled on each other. The toppings, including the cheese sauce, sit on the very top layer of chips and once you get through those, you basically have an big basket of naked cheese. The bigger order didn't have this problem, as the chips were spread over the bigger plate.

Despite being a proud Wisconsinite, I will admit to sometimes really, really loving me some processed cheese sauce and the cheese fries were amazing. The fries were thick and had a seasoning salt on them and the cheese sauce was thick and stood up to the fry. They were fatty and fake and so, so good.

All in all, it wasn't a bad joint. I'd go back for the cheese fries. It wasn't spectacular and wasn't awful. Just a good neighborhood joint.

Plus, Cassie won some big cash :)

Not normally a fan of wings but these were very good.  Tried the BBQ & Mild and ate more than i expected.  Also had a appitizer plate that was huge for less than $10.  Four of us couldn't even make a dent in the tortilla chips with taco toppings.  Place is not fancy but certainly a good source of wings.

Magoo's was the first stop on my #Birdy30 wing tour.  We called ahead to warn them we have anywhere between 6 and 25 people coming....Ended up being more like 40 and the staff were amazingly accommodating! I'm a sucker for good service....and bars that make you feel like they're happy to have you. The staff is very friendly and just genuine people all around.

It is definitely a bar full of regulars-Which is always a little intimidating. However, they we're very friendly...Especially when they found out it was my birthday :) Don't let that discourage you from a visit. We went on a Friday, was super quite when we got there at 6...By the time we were wrapping up at about midnight the bar was packed solid. And yes...I may have ate chicken wings and had "birthday beverages" for 6 hours.

And the fact that I won $300.00 on the "Shake of the Day" is neither here nor there. I won't let that sway my review...I have integrity people, integrity!

The wings were solid. No real complaints. Nothing too special, just done well.

I like wings.  So when my co-workers brought me to this place raving about the wings, I wasn't expecting much.  After eating there, I can honestly say I was blown away from the food.  These chicken wings are some of the best I have ever had.  They use a dry rub on the wings instead of coating them in sauce and on top of that, they grill them.  All of the flavor, none of the mess of sauced wings and, because of the dry rub, they really grip whatever you decide to dip them in (eventhough you really dont need to).

Aside from the wings, the drink prices are really good and the staff is very friendly.  Even as a Bears fan I felt strangely welcome in here.  I plan to stop in here everytime I am in Milwaukee on business.

The wings...the wings...the wings....that's all people talk about with this place!  But i don't eat deep fried food.

I did sample one wing.  it was good.

The service was great, but other than that it was just ok.  nothing to write home about (but something to write yelp about i guess).  There were flies in the dining room, the AC didn't work that well, but the company i was with made for a fun time.

would i go back?  probably not.  There are much better places for bar food in the are.

I used to work on 101st and National so I would come here after work with the girls frequently. We used to come for Taco Tuesdays or on Fridays. Their Fish Fry is hit or miss. Sometimes it was too salty. Their Macho Nacho is super cheap and feeds a party of six! No lie. Their wings come in a bunch of different flavors and are delicious! Their drinks are awesome! You don;t need to ask for a double because they make them strong! Get there before six and drinks are half price Monday through Friday for Happy Hour. Sign up for their Birthday mailings and they send you coupons for discounts and free stuff monthly. Your birthday month, you get a free pizza! When I found out I had to go gluten free, they let me order whatever I wanted to that was the same value of the pizza. My favorite bartender is Jimmy. He is always good for a joke and a smile. This place is just like hanging out in your back yard with friends. You always feel welcome.

We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted with an introduction by the bartender. He was friendly, attentive, and introduced us to some of their new drink beverage options. I've gone passed this place a thousand times, and finally visited because of the rave about the wings. The wings are flavorful, meaty, and both fried and grilled. I found the meat to be a little dry, but that's personal preference, I would definitely go back. Wednesdays are a $.40 special. Really like that they have many flavors to choose. I'm still on the hunt for the best wings around...with a special wing night. TVs abound around the bar for easy viewing...I think there are more TVs than bar stools!

It took me awhile to get here, but there's a new King of the Wing.  What a welcoming bar to walk into, also.  When I gave my credit card to the bartender to start a tab - he stuck his hand out to me and introduced himself.  Places like this are rare and should be cherished.

Now onto the wings.  They're the best.  I have an extremely high bar set for the buffalo wing, and Points East has been my favorite for years... but these are just as good if not better.  Their traditional "hot" flavor is very much like Points East, and it was my favorite flavor.  We also tried Hot Teriyaki, Thai, and Tough Guy.  They were all good and even though I guess I'm a purist in that I like a spicy buffalo sauce the most... I appreciate the options.

West Allis is 15-20 minutes away from me, but me and my friend WILL return.  Excellent place and I can't wait to go back.
