Looks like there's a ton of self produced "reviews" here. Shame because I'd rely much more readily in a realistically quick "good food" prop than a page long dissertation....Happy customers are usually brief. Unhappy customers tend towards greater detail.

Stopped in on a 12 degree day with my daughter. The previous tenant had failed and, being a supporter of local business, we decided to try the new place out. It was like one of those hidden camera shows. It looked like a regular cafe. Tables, menu's, staff, but it was set up like a take out place. They have a long, cluttered counter that reminded me of  and "order here" "pick-up here" kind of setup without any signs. The few patrons seemed happy enough but it seemed ...sterile, didn't even have an aroma of something cooking.  Not one word of welcome from the staff as we eventually decided to take a table. 10 minutes later we're still sitting there....waitress making table stops doesn't even look our way. So we figure we order at the counter.....stand there for 5 minutes, nothing.....a couple of sideways glances from the half dozen folks wandering around behind the counter trying to look busy but still not even a "welcome to Marie's" much less a smile. All the trouble of dressing the place up and not a clue. But at least the pie's always good at Baker's Square right down the road. ...half-assed apathy as a business model...shame.
Two recent lunches at Marie's make me wish I lived a little closer. An excellent place to stop in, relax, and try some amazing food. The menu is consistently packed with daily specials, and cafe staples. Soup, salad, sandwiches, you can't go wrong. Signature and do-it-yourself burgers look mouth-watering; unfortunate for my vegetarian diet. That being said, they have something for every taste; even the pickiest eaters will find something to their delight. Cooked fresh, made to order, everything we've tried so far has been superb. Roasted Veggie Salad and Mediterranean Veggie Wraps have been excellent; both fresh and packed with all the veg your heart could possibly desire. Married with goat cheese and kalamata olives, the Med Wrap was definitely a crowd pleaser. Â It's easy to see why Marie's gets such high marks...they really know what they're doing. Prices are fair, staff is friendly, decent location, and comfortable atmosphere and decor. Definitely worth stopping in for lunch; no question we'll be back.
Review Source:I have nothing but good things to say about Marie's catering. I used them Christmas Eve 2012 for the first time, after having used another popular local eatery and catering service for years to feed my very large family of over 30 people. The food was delicious, the portions were generous and delivery after noon on Christmas Eve was not a problem.....in fact Marie's worked with me to make sure my food came at the last possible minute so I wouldn't have to worry about keeping it warm for 5 hours! Â AND the delivery person was helpful, and offered me assistance to put things away! Oh and Marie's also provides serving spoons and tongs, something no other caterer in the Beverly neighborhood has ever done for me before......believe it or not this is a god-send to the harried hostess who does not have time to run around looking for large serving spoons and forks at the last minute!
My party guests could not stop talking about the sausage and peppers and the stuffed shells. The seasoning was spot on, and if you wanted to make things a little "hotter" Marie's supplied an ample amount of peppers to satisfy everyone's spicy desires! Â The Italian beef was tender and the rolls were fresh! Â AND the salads (especially the roasted veggie salad) were terrific! The Caesar dressing was SO good. I have never had all of the salads eaten before.....but this time you could lick the bowls, nothing left!
So, if you are searching for a new place to have your next party catered, try Marie's. Take it from a party throwing pro, they are the best I have ever had.....THE BEST!
Thanks Marie's Cafe and Catering, you were a hit!
Since the last review I think I've worked through all their burgers and lots of others on the menu. Man, that Goomba Burger is good! Fried ham and salami with hot giardiniera on a burger? Why isn't everyone doing this. It's great! This burger tops my list, recently besting their Campfire Burger, an awesome over-the-top mix of burger, chili, and Fritos. Don't be bashful, try it!
Good soup too, try the tomato garlic with a grilled cheese.
Also, private lot in the back of the building if you can't find street parking.
What a really pleasant surprise!!! I was searching for something to eat tonight (and not the usual suspects, pizza, burgers, italian) and I remembered I really wanted to try this place. I got a turkey club, fries, and a cookie. The french fries are seasoned and are delicious AND I got a ton!! The pesto mayo on my sandwich was yummy. My only regret, the place was empty!! People in our community need to support our local stores/places more. Come here!! Great food and a wonderful atmosphere!
Review Source:I've been past Marie's a million times since I've lived here for the last 7 months and finally decided to try it tonight. It was great! We were warmly greeted as we were looking up at the menu and were encouraged to sit down, relax and take our time looking at a hand held menu which was nice. I ordered a 1/2 cuban sandwich, butternut squash soup, potato salad and fresh lemonade. It was great! My husband ordered turkey club, loaded baked potato soup, french fries. His was great too and I couldn't keep my hands off the fresh cut fries that hand a seasoning with a lil kick to it. They are priced well, similar to Panera, but I'd rather support a mom n pop place. I did find out the only homemade soups are the chicken noodle and the chili. Despite that, our soups were delish so kudos to their supplier. It's nice to see young kids working that are nice, polite and helpful. We can't wait to go back!
Review Source:Great food and great people. Came in looking for sub type sandwiches, they have their specialty sandwiches (which are fantastic) but they didn't have specifically what I was looking for. The workers asked what I was looking for and accommodated me even though it wasn't on the menu. The employees at Marie's are some of the most pleasant and helpful people I've encountered at any business I've ever been to!!!
Review Source:The food was amazing. Restaurant was very clean and the staff was awesome. I had the Farmhouse burger, my wife had the oven-roasted turkey club (on pretzel bun) and my son had the grilled cheese with apple slices and yogurt. We drove from Lockport and will definitely be back. They even offer discounts to active and veteran military. Plus there is a park across the street for our son to play after. We will be back soon
Review Source:I see all the great reviews and i really want that same experience.  I have tried the place twice and both times the food has been so bad i don't wanna finish.  Tried the chicken wrap and it was so dry i felt like i was eating jerky.  The sausage breakfast sandwich i ate half and then had to throw out i just couldn't force myself to finish.  The egg was so overcooked and the bread was so bland and dry.  Nice looking place but  wish the food was good.  Try adding flavor and not cooking everything on a griddle.
Review Source:I've eaten @ Marie's on a couple of occasions and have been very pleased. The menu is extensive and the food is solid. I love the restaurant's decor and the atmosphere is warm and homely. Â The service is prompt, professional and friendly.
The lemonade is fresh squeezed and was fabulous. If you are in the mood for meat try one of their burgers. If you're trying to eat healthy then go for the chicken caesar salad. Try one of the cookies too! It was delicious.
All of the potential is here. Â I love a place that makes a hand made burger and that's what they do here, I do agree with a previous review though that the bun/burger ratio is a little weak and my burger was over cooked. Â It still tasted good with the mustard/garlic sauce and fixin's, but some pieces were a little crunchy. Â It did take a long time too, but if the food is good I'll wait. Â
Fresh squeezed lemonade was yum!
I love that the kids get to pick from healthy sides, rather than fries. Â You could scale down the size of the kids items though. Â
I really hope this place survives! Â Take note of reviews and work out the kinks!! Â I love having a decent cafe to walk to in the neighborhood. Â The menu is great, you can go healthy and your kids can get pbjs or hot dogs.
Also, 8pm seems a little early to close.
I was really looking forward to trying this new neighborhood place. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. The fries were really good, although fairly salty. (I like them salty.) The person I was with ordered a chicken sandwich, and I had a burger, both of which had a really high bun-to-meat ratio. Even an extra 10% more meat would have helped. We did arrive during a little post-dinner rush, and several people stopped by to pick up orders, but the kitchen's timing was off. One dinner arrived at our table 15 minutes after the other. We would have both preferred to have waited and gotten our meals at the same time. The prices were a little high, too, for the area. I liked the decor, and the place was immaculate; the staff was really friendly. I'm giving them a three star review based on the fact that they're new, they're still trying to tweak things, and this was my only experience with them. But after my next visit, I may have to revise my rating down a little.
