Marker 59 Lounge and Restaurant

It was a tradition with our family that the last day of vacation we stop here for their breakfast buffet.  So as usual we stopped there yesterday.  We knew there was new owners of the hotel, so we called to inquire if they still had the buffet.  We were told yes and asked if they still had the omelet and waffle station.  We were assured they do.  So when we were seated we were told they did not have that anymore..But we decided to go ahead and eat there anyway.  They food was very disappointing in taste and the bacon was cold...And they had just opened.  The cost for 3 adults and 1 child was over $51.  We could have gotten a much better and cheaper meal somewhere else!!!

As guests at the Holiday Inn Resort Beach House we came here to have breakfast in the middle of the week.  They were serving off the menu at the time but I understand they serve a buffet on the weekends depending on capacity of the hotel (which may make this an ok option).

One word sums up my experience here.  SLOW.  I take that back...two words: REALLY SLOW.  If I had to estimate I would say the following:

Time to be seated: 4 minutes
Time to be acknowledged by a server: 10 minutes
Time to get drinks: 12 minutes
Time to get food: 45 MINUTES!!!
TIME TO EAT MY FOOD AFTER STARVING: 3 MINUTES

Anyway, you get the picture.  I would not recommend this place simply because of the service (although no one was rude).  You are better off going to a grocery store and stocking the room fridge with some easy items like yogurt, etc.

I ordered an omelette and it was ok.  Nothing special.  The order came out correct so that was good.  Someone else ordered something with the name 'mound' in it.  It came with an egg ordered over medium but came out over hard.  

I should note that the restaurant wasn't extremely busy although they did seem understaffed.

Well the ambiance is really wonderful. Completely remodeled and on the beach. We were one of 2 tables. Service was pretty slow. It took quite some time to get 2 beers. We joked that she was waiting in line at the Tiki Hut for them.

The shrimp appetizer was sent back. It was dripping with water, obviously frozen.
Friends said the beef was good. I had the salmon and it was served upside down and was about 2oz for $22. The potatoes were instant and unflavored. The frozen vegetables were soaked in a seasoned sauce. Balsamic like. The salmon had absolutely no flavor not even the sauce that it was sitting in.

Being locals this is not a place I would recommend or frequent.
