Finally! A name that's indicative of the type of food one receives. When I first saw this place I thought it was an actual feed store, when I ate here I realized I was right. The food here is only suitable as slop for pigs. I wish there was a way to give this place negative stars, because I would.
I had the BBQ Beef dinner, if that's what you can call it. I received burnt pieces of meat that resembled beef jerky more than "Beef pulled right off the bone to order" as their menu states. The seasoning was a blend of old grease and fat. The only pieces soft enough to not break my jaw were the large pieces of fat cleverly disguised as meat by the burnt grease that covered them. The red sauce that accompanies the jerky tastes like cheap ketchup with pepper sprinkled in, however the hot BBQ sauce did a pretty good job of keeping the awful taste out of my mouth by burning my taste buds just enough to almost fool myself into believing the slop was edible.
The sides added insult to injury. I had the sour tasting baked apples and ready mix flavorless cornbread that is sure to make inmates reminisce of sitting in a chow hall guarding their milks with their lives.
Needless to say I will not be returning. Having had Famous Dave's BBQ and thinking it was just ok, I now realize it's the best Louisville has to offer and will be returning to Dave's whenever I get a craving for edible BBQ.
That's this critic's review. Until next time, I'll be eating.
Not entirely sure that this was the one we went to, but I know it wasn't the one listed before this. Went there on a 2 family vacation, and surprisingly they sat 8 of us in under five minutes on a Sunday night. Our server was Todd, who was very nice and attentive. My wife and I both got baby back ribs and fried corn. I had baked beans, and she had fries. The ribs were tender and juicy. Maybe a little too tender though, as I don't like when they fall completely off the bone leaving it totally clean. The sauce had a nice flavor, but since we were doing wet ribs, I decided to add a little of the mustard sauce and hot barbecue sauce. This made them even better. The beans, though basic, were quite good. Nice and tangy. The fried corn was very interesting to all of us. I think we all liked it, but agreed that it seemed a little gimmicky and probably wouldn't order it again. The onion strings were very good, and the batter had a great kick to it.
My brother in law had the fish sandwich and said it was one of the best he's had.
The banana pudding with oreos for dessert was ok. Nothing exceptional.
I wanted to give them somewhere around three stars, but I figured that Todd handled us so well, that he earned them an extra star.
I had several people tell me this was one of the best barbeque places in Louisville so I tried it. Overall it was very good and would recommend it to anyone. Â The ribs and pork were very good. Â the fries were OK. Â The beans were just plain pork and beans and I didn't eat them. Â We had fried pickles for an appitizer and they were good. Â I also have burgoo as an appitizer and it was OK, but not what I was expecting or anything like I have had in other places. Â
I live in Kansas City and I travel a lot so I have eaten at many Bbq places over the years. Â I would say this one is OK but not at the top of the list. Â It is may be the best one in this area and worth going to.
Good food. Â I passed by Mark's feed store several times, but was hesitant to go in. Â Finally, one day I went for lunch and have been back several times. Â Everything I've had on their menu is good (Bar-B-Q sandwiches, Burgers and Bar-B-Q Platters). Â The burgers were a little dry, but were still good. Â My favorite is the Bar-B-Q Pork platter. Â What ever you do save some room for dessert. Â The Buttermilk pie is absolutely delicious.
