Amazing BBQ sandwiches. Â This is a hidden gem!
Came here after a cycling event at the nearby park. I tried both the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches, and they were both brilliant. Â The meat was buttery soft, and was served on a white bread roll. Â The sides were nothing much to write home about, but the sandwich made up for it. Â Best BBQ I've ever had!
One of my biggest pet peeves with most BBQ restaurants is their complete lack of dedication to delicious side dishes--this is so not true at River Road BBQ! The cole slaw is crisp, flavorful, and full of large shreds of cabbage and red onion; the baked beans are loaded with a meaty barbecue flavor and can make a meal in and of themselves. The meat itself is tender, smokey, and delightfully accompanied by a rich sauce that is sure to please any BBQ afficionado. A Sandwich makes a great lunch, but a family dinner here is satisfying and affordable!
Review Source:Just kinda stumbled onto this place the other day. Â I'm visiting for the holidays from Seattle, but grew up in Indy.
This place is awesome. Â I didn't expect to be buying BBQ so I didn't have much cash on me.
I bought a pound of their brisket, and man-oh-man, is that good stuff.
The BBQ is right out front and those folks know how to use it.
The brisket was so tender if just fell apart. ( I couldn't resist so just grabbed it with my fingers.) It's cooked to perfection and tastes fantastic just as it is.
Their sauce is good to, but not what I would call "traditional" bbq sauce. Â It's thinner, and not as, I don't know, it's hard to describe. Â It isn't bad, it just isn't what I think of when I think of BBQ sauce. Â I found myself just dipping my finger into it to taste it, over and over, so it's good. Â Got a bit of a kick, but it comes in a bit late, which I like.
This is a small place with no seating but tons of open park space nearby. Â I hope they can stay in business because they know what they are doing and it's very good. Â
Check 'em out!
