Marvins Restaurant

Everyone knows in Chicago, if you want good Soul Food, its the Westside. I was in the area on Cicero Ave. and I-290. I decided to stop at Marvins Soul Food Restaurant. I walked in and the restaurant went quiet. I noticed that I was in fact the only white male subject in the place. However the smell of sweet soul food filled the air. There was booth seating and a service counter seating area. I sat at the service counter. I order the Pork Neck Bone Dinner Special. With the order I got Mustard Greens, Mac and Cheese, Corn Bread and sweet pudding. I used the house hot sauce on my meal because I like it HOT. For a small little restaurant they had excellent soul food. I noticed that on the menue they had daily specials Mon-Sun. The restaurant in open 6am-6pm. The waitress Cinila, was a very friendly lady. Other items on the menue were Beef Short Ribs, Turkey Wings, Ham Hocks, Oxtail, Cornish Hen, Chop Steak, Lima Beans, Black Eyed Beans, Gizzards and Rice, Pork Steak, Turkey Legs, Chicken Legs, Salted Pork, Beef/Pork Neckbones, Okra, Mustard/ Turnip Greens and Mississippi Sausage. There is a picture of the orignal owners on the wall that gives it that Family owned atomsphere. The restaurant accepts both credit cards and cash as payment. I love Chicago, I love Soul Food and where its at is on the WESTSIDE.  It soul food Chicago Style.
