I've dined at this location several times in the past year, but after our last experience I will not be back. The problems were due to both service and quality/taste of food. We arrived around 11:30 am on a Sunday. There was no crowd or wait. We were not greeted upon entering. In fact, we stood there for a few minutes wondering if anyone knew we were there. The bartender had 2 customers, but did see us arrive. Eventually, a hostess came, and seated us in a booth. The server, when she arrived, was not friendly. I get that we all have bad days, but when you work in customer service, you don't have the luxury of projecting it onto your customers. When our food arrived, my order was incorrect. When I finally managed to get my server's attention, her response was "Well, I put it in correctly." As a customer, I don't care where the mistake was made, I just want it corrected. The green beans had so much salt (visible) that I should have known better, but I tried a bite anyway. They were so salty as to be inedible. My sandwich, when fixed, was fine (though cold). My daughter's medium well burger was prepared well done, and charred. After all the issues, I was not offered anything by way of apology for the bad experience. So, it will be my last.
Goodbye, Carmel Max & Erma's. I will drive to another location if I'm craving your delicious chicken tortilla soup.
It's Max and Erma's. Â Not a place I would pick to eat, but alas when there is a group, I'm always agreeable. Â We were staying in the Hampton Inn across the parking lot, so it was convenient enough. Â Free cookies on Wednesdays...that's fun.
It's fine for your all-American plate of nachos/chicken quesadilla/sandwich with fries. Â As someone coming in from out of town, I'm just looking for some local flare, not M&E's fault, no doubt. Â Our server was friendly, she had to look up the specials twice, but she got the job done and no one at our table seemed to have any issues with the way the food was prepared. Â So, I'd say it was delivered as promised, but I would recommend making your way to arts district for a bit more character with your meal.
