Parking:
From the moment I exited the highway 'til I rolled back on to go home, I had zero problems parking. Â I came in from 294 South, exited at Balmoras Ave and drove right into the garage. Â There are signs clearly stating which way to go for everything: Turn here for the Financial Park, This lane for general parking or that lane for Muvico, Go forward to go up a level, etc. Â Even exiting was a snap: you follow the Exit signs down to the lower level, at which point you're made to decide whether you want to exit onto Bryn Mawr Rd or Balmoras Ave. Â If you've ever been in a parking garage before, then none of this is new-in fact, I'd even go as far to say that this is one of the easiest garages I've ever had to navigate.
I had no problems finding my car again when leaving. Â All the levels have letters assigned to each aisle: 4A, 4B, 4C, etc., so just remember what aisle you're parked at and you shouldn't have any problems relocating your car. Â My friend, who parked on the 2nd level, took about 5 minutes finding his car; I noticed that the aisles on this level weren't assigned letters like they were on the 4th, but again, you're working in a finite space: as long as you know what floor you're on, you'll eventually find your car. Â If you're one of those people who can never remember where you've parked, I suggest you get into the habit of taking a pic on your phone.
Take your ticket with you. Â It seems like all the places here can validate your ticket, which means you don't have to pay. Â According to the hostess at the restaurant we dined at, the validation is for 24 hrs, so feel free to tackle that at your leisure. Â I got my server to do it while settling the bill, but as we were exiting the building, the hostess reminded us to have our tickets validated, which was very considerate of her. Â (It turns out that the exit gates were up in the garage as I was leaving, so I didn't pay , but this was also at 2a and I imagine the exit procedure at 2a versus 2p are probably different)
Dining:
We ate at Adobe Gilas, a group of 20 sans reservation. Â On our behalf, we did call ahead and try to make a reservation, but apparently they don't reserve tables after 7p over there. Â We gave them a head's up to expect 20 people around 8, in any case. Â I arrived first, and had a cake. Â The hostess was cool and asked if I wanted to stow it in their fridge, a much-appreciated gesture since I had no idea how I was going to hide a giant cake from the birthday girl for the duration of the meal. Â
It took them ~30 min to get enough tables together and for the rest of our group to arrive.
Service was exemplary here. Â Our server (Jessica) was great-food and drink came out lickety split, and she skillfully handled the chaos of our group no problem. Â When I indicated for the cake to come out, she had somehow managed to locate a lot of candles (we counted: 16!), so the cake looked really awesome when she brought it to our table. Â While we sang Happy Birthday, she brought us plates and silverware.
The only crit I have is that the food isn't that great, especially for the price. Â The quality is lacking and the portions are small. Â I was drinking domestic bottles that night ($3.50 a pop, can't complain); my friends sipping fishbowls and the like complained about the alcohol-mixer ratio. Â It seems that other restaurants in this area suffer from the same affliction as this one.
This place gets really busy at night (line out the door and around the corner kinda busy); as we were leaving it was getting filled up, and the kind of people filling it were young 20-somethings who partied like they were at a college bar. Â Although a 20-something myself, it wasn't my scene so I was glad we got out when we did. Â That's either a tip or a warning depending on how you like to party.
Next door, at Kings, we played pool. Â $6-7 drafts, but at least they had something other than MGD and Bud. Â Again, friends complained the mixed drinks were weak. Â Still, it was a nice place to hang out and have a few; being a lounge it was of course laidback.
Sum:
I gave this place 5 stars despite the fact that I won't be returning. Â Personally, it's just not my cup of tea - though, I know lots of people that adore this kind of scene. Â It's hard to give a negative review just because my personal preferences weren't met. Â Kinda like poo-pooing a burger when you don't even like ground beef.
The dining is more novelty than quality, but it can still be fun. Â Let's put it this way: Do you have any problems with Bar Louie? Â If you don't, then you will like this place. Â If you do, then this place is like one, giant Bar Louie. Â Yeah.
It seems like the night scene is catered more towards rambunctious party-goers, i.e. those that prefer the more college drinking scene of lots of cheap-price, cheap-quality liquors with pounding music. Â If you're someone who prefers a more quiet/mature night out, then avoid this place. Â Avoid this place at all costs.
Parking garage review:
What a trip the first time around: semi-difficult to navigate the first time around so give yourself some extra time. The left side is general and right side is for Muvico. This is the lot to park in for Toby Keith's, Kings, Zanies, Hofbrauhaus, etc. I thought it was only for Muvico because I could not see the other buildings! Once you get into general parking there are some spots only for ALoft and the layout of the garage takes some getting used to. Once parked bring your ticket with to get validated. When you exit the elevator you will magically see all the restaurants/bars.
The next time will be less stressful.
I really enjoy this huge entertainment district, mostly because its close to my house. Like Stephan on Saturday Night Live says "This district has EVERYTHING!" There are a wide variety of things to do & eat, with several international restaurants, a movie theater, a bowling alley/lounge, a comedy club & an outlet mall opening this summer
