Parking:
From the moment I exited the highway 'til I rolled back on to go home, I had zero problems parking. Â I came in from 294 South, exited at Balmoras Ave and drove right into the garage. Â There are signs clearly stating which way to go for everything: Turn here for the Financial Park, This lane for general parking or that lane for Muvico, Go forward to go up a level, etc. Â Even exiting was a snap: you follow the Exit signs down to the lower level, at which point you're made to decide whether you want to exit onto Bryn Mawr Rd or Balmoras Ave. Â If you've ever been in a parking garage before, then none of this is new-in fact, I'd even go as far to say that this is one of the easiest garages I've ever had to navigate.
I had no problems finding my car again when leaving. Â All the levels have letters assigned to each aisle: 4A, 4B, 4C, etc., so just remember what aisle you're parked at and you shouldn't have any problems relocating your car. Â My friend, who parked on the 2nd level, took about 5 minutes finding his car; I noticed that the aisles on this level weren't assigned letters like they were on the 4th, but again, you're working in a finite space: as long as you know what floor you're on, you'll eventually find your car. Â If you're one of those people who can never remember where you've parked, I suggest you get into the habit of taking a pic on your phone.
Take your ticket with you. Â It seems like all the places here can validate your ticket, which means you don't have to pay. Â According to the hostess at the restaurant we dined at, the validation is for 24 hrs, so feel free to tackle that at your leisure. Â I got my server to do it while settling the bill, but as we were exiting the building, the hostess reminded us to have our tickets validated, which was very considerate of her. Â (It turns out that the exit gates were up in the garage as I was leaving, so I didn't pay , but this was also at 2a and I imagine the exit procedure at 2a versus 2p are probably different)
Dining:
We ate at Adobe Gilas, a group of 20 sans reservation. Â On our behalf, we did call ahead and try to make a reservation, but apparently they don't reserve tables after 7p over there. Â We gave them a head's up to expect 20 people around 8, in any case. Â I arrived first, and had a cake. Â The hostess was cool and asked if I wanted to stow it in their fridge, a much-appreciated gesture since I had no idea how I was going to hide a giant cake from the birthday girl for the duration of the meal. Â
It took them ~30 min to get enough tables together and for the rest of our group to arrive.
Service was exemplary here. Â Our server (Jessica) was great-food and drink came out lickety split, and she skillfully handled the chaos of our group no problem. Â When I indicated for the cake to come out, she had somehow managed to locate a lot of candles (we counted: 16!), so the cake looked really awesome when she brought it to our table. Â While we sang Happy Birthday, she brought us plates and silverware.
The only crit I have is that the food isn't that great, especially for the price. Â The quality is lacking and the portions are small. Â I was drinking domestic bottles that night ($3.50 a pop, can't complain); my friends sipping fishbowls and the like complained about the alcohol-mixer ratio. Â It seems that other restaurants in this area suffer from the same affliction as this one.
This place gets really busy at night (line out the door and around the corner kinda busy); as we were leaving it was getting filled up, and the kind of people filling it were young 20-somethings who partied like they were at a college bar. Â Although a 20-something myself, it wasn't my scene so I was glad we got out when we did. Â That's either a tip or a warning depending on how you like to party.
Next door, at Kings, we played pool. Â $6-7 drafts, but at least they had something other than MGD and Bud. Â Again, friends complained the mixed drinks were weak. Â Still, it was a nice place to hang out and have a few; being a lounge it was of course laidback.
Sum:
I gave this place 5 stars despite the fact that I won't be returning. Â Personally, it's just not my cup of tea - though, I know lots of people that adore this kind of scene. Â It's hard to give a negative review just because my personal preferences weren't met. Â Kinda like poo-pooing a burger when you don't even like ground beef.
The dining is more novelty than quality, but it can still be fun. Â Let's put it this way: Do you have any problems with Bar Louie? Â If you don't, then you will like this place. Â If you do, then this place is like one, giant Bar Louie. Â Yeah.
It seems like the night scene is catered more towards rambunctious party-goers, i.e. those that prefer the more college drinking scene of lots of cheap-price, cheap-quality liquors with pounding music. Â If you're someone who prefers a more quiet/mature night out, then avoid this place. Â Avoid this place at all costs.
Parking garage review:
What a trip the first time around: semi-difficult to navigate the first time around so give yourself some extra time. The left side is general and right side is for Muvico. This is the lot to park in for Toby Keith's, Kings, Zanies, Hofbrauhaus, etc. I thought it was only for Muvico because I could not see the other buildings! Once you get into general parking there are some spots only for ALoft and the layout of the garage takes some getting used to. Once parked bring your ticket with to get validated. When you exit the elevator you will magically see all the restaurants/bars.
The next time will be less stressful.
I really enjoy this huge entertainment district, mostly because its close to my house. Like Stephan on Saturday Night Live says "This district has EVERYTHING!" There are a wide variety of things to do & eat, with several international restaurants, a movie theater, a bowling alley/lounge, a comedy club & an outlet mall opening this summer
Review Source:Not sure why everyone is so angry about MB Park. Sure, the parking lot kinda sucks, but once inside its pretty cool. The ice rink is sweet, the bowling alley is cool, lots of good restaurants/bars, Zanies is always fun and Muvico is solid. Just like anywhere in Chicago, leave early and be prepared for traffic and stop complaining about it. We live in Chicago for goodness sakes and you complain about traffic? Come on, guys. Get over yourselves.
Review Source:This whole complex is a nightmare. Â Tried to find Hofbrau House on Yelp, and there are obvious reasons why they don't want to be here. Â The parking situation is awful. Â We went to the Hofbrau House, two of us, and got a $160 bill for (2) liters of lager, a tilapia dish that was awful, a wienerschnitzel that was below average and 5 apple schnapps shots. Â That is insane expensive. Â Service was slow. Â We are NEVER going back.
Review Source:Contrary to past reviews. i have been a returning customer to Adobe Gila mexican grill and nite club over the past few months. Not only have i found the staff and service to be overly friendly and warm and welcoming but they usually go out of their way to make sure you have a good time. i have been a fitness and marketing entrepreneur for over 30 yrs. and no that  customer service main goal is to over deliver the best customer experience possible and let the fans rave after words. plain and simple the girls work their butts off behind the bar and servicing the tables and the management from ron and down are a class act. i would welcome any visitor from chicago or out of state to get a taste of chicago and have fun with great music and entertainment quality food and exceptional service. i just had the cajun chicken breast bonelss wings last nite . Wow! habernero and delicious.
Review Source:Blah. I went to a show at the Zanies here. First of all, it was a clusterf*ck trying to get into the place. I was waiting in line for 30 minutes to get into the parking garage. The show at Zanies was good, but the restaurants in the place are all crappy touristy places. Park Tavern is a franchise by the Bar Louie people, Toby Keith, yea I really want to eat somewhere with his name on the sign, Adobe Gila, is this a crappy disco or a crappy restaurant, seems like they're still trying to make up their mind. If you're a conventioneer from Nebraska or a 22 year old from Schaumburg you might think this place is good.
Review Source:First of all - if you don't know what this is- the name certainly will not help. Â What sounds like a collection of banking establishments is really a collection of entertainment and restaurant venues that are meant to be a destination. Â
There is the huge Muvico theater establishment, the Kings bowling center, Zanies comedy club as well as Toby Keith's restaurant and music venue.
There are also several restaurants and bars making up the rest of the complex. Â Five Roses Pub, Park Tavern, Adobe Gila's, My Big Fat Greek Restaurant and Hofbrau House (the last two not yet open at this writing) to name those that I remember.
There is a "city common" area in the center where concerts and events happen in the Summer months and outdoor ice skating happens in the Winter months.
But getting here and parking are two of the most confusing things in this place. Â Let's tackle both of these. Â
Assuming you are heading in on River Road- if you turn westbound on Bryn Mawr- go down to the end and turn left just prior to the Muvico theater. Â While intuition suggests you continue straight to go behind the theater- this is in fact, a dead end and will have you (and many others on all the nights I've been there, turning around and heading back.) Â So turn left before the Muvico. Â Go into the parking structure and it's here you have to make a decision.
If you are feeling lucky- that there might be parking in the smallish lots that you can see in front of the various venues- then continue through the parking structure, along the service drive on the south side, curve around, and you will find yourself in the middle of the complex. Â Go slowly as this is a one way street and if you think you can turn around if you miss a spot- you cannot . . .and you will find yourself going back around through the whole thing again.
If you want to park in the parking structure, while the signs say $13, take your ticket with you. Â All of the places validate so that parking is free. Â But be strategic to where you park for unless you get in the middle of the structure and can enter through any of the sets of double doors- you will find yourself walking around the perimeter of the place trying to find your way in. Â And trust me . . the signage doesn't help.
The entire place needs more signage. Â I get that the name "MB Financial Park at Rosemont" doesn't roll off the tongue and that it is way too long for a sign. Â But even if they call it "The Park", they need to help direct people to the destination. Â This place has to function as a destination as there is NO WAY someone might just be wandering by and find it. Â You have to be looking for it
The best thing is the exit. Â For this gal who wanted to go southbound on the tollway- the exit on Balmoral Road practically puts you off onto the tollway (I should also mention that if you are coming from the northbound tollway Balmoral is also your best bet to get into the place).
Once you arrive- the people watching is interesting as there is such a mix of people. Â There are obviously the conventioneers who have walked over from the nearby hotels. Â There are also "locals" from nearby Norridge and Harwood Park. Â And, of course, the people who are coming or going from the airport.
So IF you get past the name, the crazy tangle of roads, and the parking, you're likely to have a decent bite to eat or experience an evening better than sitting at home. Â But that's a big IF. Â It has become a joke for my friends as each time we wonder if we will ever find our cars again!
