There are two things this place has going for it: Â Ample parking and they serve Magners cider. Â Magners is the only Irish thing you'll get here. Â The clientele is sketchy, the bar staff is really slow, and the inside is a bit dank. Â The service here needs some major improvement. Â Besides being slower than molasses, our server was as smart as a box of rocks. Make sure to double-check your bill when closing out.
Review Source:This bar has the most dysfunctional decorations ever- a sports bar with a few four leaf clovers intermixed and a biker crowd that screams their better days are behind them. If you like bars where you can see a 50 year old woman with leathered skin and a beer belly in a tube top then this is the place for you. The service is meh and the food is bleh. It just feels dirty in there and I like dive bars. The music is wayyyy too loud but it's probably that way because of the older crowd that frequents this establishment. I would not recommend- if you want to go to a good bar just head down to Emerald Isle that's less than a mile away but miles ahead of this desperate place.
Review Source:I had high hopes for this place as I drive by at least once/week. Â Finally I had a chance to stop by for a bite and a beer. Â The beer was good.
The atmosphere was yucky...yes, a childish word, but the only one I can use to describe the place...dark, boring....
Food...dark...boring...
I have no plans on returning. (Two Stars only because my son liked the nachos)
This place is huge! Lots of TV's- Sunday Football!
I ordered a glass of wine and it came in a big huge glass-almost full, not sure but I think it was at least two glasses in there- and it was $6.25
The service could have been better- super nice, just really slow. We had a table of 13- and there is plenty of room here to pull tables together and still be able to watch a football or hockey game.
The wings were great- for those like me who can't stand blue cheese, they have the good "bar" ranch dressing- yummmmy!
If I lived in the hood I could see going here for games.
They also have poker and pool tourney's here weekly.
The food was actually pretty good. The service was awful. And it was dead in there. The server/bartender gal was snarky and rude and didn't come back to our table once after giving us our food. We had to go up and ask for our bill and a box.
This is definitely NOT an Irish pub or bar. Â They had mostly Mexican food on the menu?
Even though the food was good, I'd never go back because of the piss poor service.
I find myself saying more frequently that "we should go to McCarthy's" tonight. Every week they have a different band providing a different sound. Their bar food is decent, though I haven't tried it all. The drinks are decently priced, the wait staff are friendly, and the mix of patrons is welcoming. I haven't had a bad time yet! If you're in the area and are looking for the neighborhood bar feel - McCarthy's is a great place to try.
Review Source:Top o' the mañana to ya, amigo!
Optimus is confused by Mexican menu items in an Irish-style pub that's really just a sports bar with a stage. Yeah, this place is about as Irish as the chili relleno I ate here last week. But hey - it was not a bad chili relleno.
Karaoke Thursday is a hilarious time to watch drunken humans 'sing' - most of the time EPIC FAILING just as much while singing Highway to Hell as they are trying to get back off the stage (OMG is she alright??)
Also, there is always this one older drunk chick that talks to Optimus and Sideswipe like she's got no one else to hang on to, but... well, let's just say it was visit # 3 to this place that we even figured out she was a she. Ladies who smoke: be aware, your voice is going to get deep and scratchy, and your face is going to shrivel up faster than a dog's ass at the vet. This chick could have played Ghost Rider as Nic Cage and the  Spirit of Vengeance all at once - with no make-up! Lady, do yourself a flava and suck on a Chantix once in a while, will ya? Foulness.
Libations abound. Not the best prices, the service is meh, and the scenery as well. But heck... it's right down the block.
Optimus OUT
I hear about McCarthy's at least 3 times a week. This is the bf's neighborhood hangout and I was finally brought here on Friday for a double date. Definitely your neighborhood bar, packed with locals and neon beer brand signs. Lots of neon signs.
Happy Hour just might be one of the greatest things in the US. 2 for 1 drinks and raging drink specials. Add in a little buffet of free chicken wings and tater tots, and you have a prime spot to have drinks and for some, a free meal. I had a glass of white zinfandel, to take advantage of their '2 glasses of house wine for $6.25' deal. I'm not sure what the brand of wine was but it was dry, tasty, and the glass was about the size of my head. To top it off, it contained half a bottle of wine and our wonderful waitress joked that another glass would have me consuming the entire bottle. I opted not to go for that.
With cheap drinks, plenty of tv's, and tons of loyal regulars, I'm considering this the 'Cheers' of Aurora. After a round of karaoke, I'm sure even the guy in the back corner will know your name.
Got super smashed here last night. 3 pitchers of PBR, buffalo burger, and burritos ran us $38 which is not so bad considering.
Food: I was kinda drunk at this point but the buffalo burger was quite delish. The fries, NOT delish. At all. I don't know what kind of fries they are but they are the same as fresh fish company and they blow. Please get better fries.
Drink: $7.50 for a pitcher of PBR. I got 2 sides of green olives with them with no backsass from the bartender.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere here is sweet. They had live trivia and trivia on some tvs as well. A million tvs with all variety of sports. We got the channel changed on one of the prominent tvs no problem.
Overall, I liked this place. If I weren't moving this weekend I would consider coming here weekly.
Not too bad. Â I could not find a waitress for a little while in the pool area and had to seek one out but after that everything was just fine. Â They have Coors Original on Tap which I like :)
Pool is actually pretty cheap too if you are smart enough to read the sign... lol  3 games for 2 bucks! There was a band setting up for what I am sure was a great night!  I lie the set up and the Menu looks great and I heard from more than a couple patrons that the Nachos are yummy!
Not to far away from my new hood :) Ill be back for some Nachos for sure... we shall see if the service gets any better :)
since i havent hit too many bars around here in aurora/denver, this was a treat. had pool tables, darts, abundant seating and a nice atmosphere. service was okay. nothing outstanding. only had to wait a couple times for refills. price for beer was not the best. ive had much better happy hour deals, especially on pitchers. they did have a live band. a little loud for the size of the place, but good music (rock covers) overall. they did start a bit late for me (11:15pm). the crowd was a little on the older side, but it did get busier as the night went on and the age seemed to even out a bit. only had french fries for food which were okay. homemade, real fries. kept the munchies at bay, but i could have really used some in'n'out fries, know what im sayin?
i will probably go here again but maybe not til i try a few other joints. i really prefer the real DIVE bar scene
Friendly, unpretentious, blue collar eating & drinking emporium.
Visiting from New York, we were strangers but once.
Stopped in for afternoon libation and struck up conversation with some regulars. They made us feel so very much at home that we returned the next evening for dinner.
Ate at the bar as we often do. Enjoyed a strip steak, baked spud, veggies, Texas toast and a generous, tasty salad for $13.95.
The menu is varied, including a big selection of pub grub, and our meals were produced quickly.
Nice choice of draught beers and all manner of spirits.
Entertainment on several nights.
This joint could easily become our Denver area home bar.
Thank you Karen for your hospitality.
